Was having theft in my business--an employee's pocketbook was broken into on 2 separate occasions--$75 times two = $150 gone. I gave the girl her money back and bought this device for $300 and NABBED the theif within one week of setting it up. I bought this camera and installed it by drilling a tiny hole in a ceiling tile with a nail and duct-taped it into place.

I also bought a Cisco wireless router for this purpose. I ran some extension cords through the ceiling to an outlet in my office. We planted money in the girl's purse and when she came in to work I pressed the record button in the camera software on my office computer and just let it record for the whole work day, which was about 10 hours, which translates into about 6 gigs of avi files.

The AVI's are recorded into 845 meg files which makes it easy to search through and/or transport. There is a motion detection setting on the camera but I was worried that there could be a delay when it started recording and I might miss something. So she let me know when the money was stolen and there it was on the video file, PERFECTLY captured.

The thief snatched her wallet and took it up front...then came back 40 minutes later and placed it back in the bag, drained of money of course. The other thing that is cool about this camera is you can log into it remotely from your home computer using the dyndns.org redirect service so I had a few friends watching it as well. The set up was a little tricky at first because internet explorer refuses to install the active X control, but the manual on the install cd shows you how to temporarily disable the IE security to install it.

I also had trouble getting the camera to be recognized on the network and the tech support guys on this site spent an hour trying to help me--they can log onto your computer using a remote desktop type software--they were very patient and friendly----it ended up being that I needed to connect another wireless device to the network (it was the first time using the router)---and then it suddenly showed up on the network after that and worked flawlessly after that.

There are many settings you can customize on the camera...user names, paths to record the video files, email alerts, ftp service, etc. Anyway--I would HIGHLY recommend this camera for anyone having a theft problem at work. Works exactly like it should..and there really aren't any other devices out there that I've found that have this set of features.

There is an option to get a longer cable from the camera to the wirelss device for $40 extra--I wish I got that because then it will make it easier to use it in different set ups. And it is cool that you can have up to 9 cameras monitoring all at once. I might get a few more for certain key areas of the business that could have theft. So Thank You spycameras.com for having such an awesome device for sale! IT WORKED GREAT!
