Warranty was worthless!

Prior to purchasing the wood, I made it clear to the sales person that I had experienced cupping (warping) of a wood floor that I had previously installed in my home (office room). This is typically the result of moisture coming up through the concrete slab. So I obviously did not want to have that same problem again with this new install (installed in two separate bedrooms). He guaranteed me that the glue that he was recommending had a moisture barrier mixed in it, that it was the best product on the market and that I should not have any problems. The clincher for me was when he said that if I did have problems, that I shouldn’t worry because the glue, wood, and install (used their LL recommended installer) were all under warranty.

In just 3 months after the install I could see the wood beginning to warp. After spending 8 months trying to get them to honor their warranty, I have given up. During that time I found out that thier installer was suppose to do a min. of 2 moisture tests (one in each room) on my floor prior to the install, especially since there was already evidence of moisture problems in the third room. He only did one test and that one was not even done to industry standard. I replaced the wood in the office room that I had the original problems and confirmed with the installer that there was moisture coming up through the slab. The bottom of the boards had black mold and mildew. I gave all this info to the LL customer service people and their reply was simply that the moisture test came back good and that the cupping was probably due to excess dryness. Excess drying is a condition that I have found out is more common in arid regions like Arizona not in humid South Florida. Also, since when has excess dryness caused mold and mildew?

The bottom line is I got nothing but the runaround and they did not honor their warranty as promised in their famous ads, which was the only reason I chose to go with them in the first place. If you decide to use them for your job, good luck if you have any problems with your floors.
