My experience was similar to some of the other reviews that I read dealing with Millennium Camera where I placed an order for a Samsung LN32A450 LCD TV online. This is a new model and not a lot of retailers stocked them yet. I received an e-mail after placing the order online that said I had to call customer service for verification purposes. When I called they offered to include HDMI cables, power conditioners, wall mounts and extended warranty plans at what I thought where rather inflated prices. After refusing all of these extras, the sales person came up with the statement that I needed to buy a stand because the TV didn’t have one. After I bit on the stand, the salesperson offered for an extra $19, to throw in an LCD TV starter kit that was to include a power conditioner, an HDMI cable and a one year in home extended warranty. Including shipping, the price of the TV came to almost $200 over the price advertised on Millennium’s web page. I didn’t cancel the deal because this final price was about what other retailers where charging before shipping and/or taxes.
When the TV arrived (to their credit, though, it did arrive in about 3 or 4 days after my verification call), there was no power conditioner, HDMI cable or information on the in-home service plan, but the stand was there. So, I call customer service to inquire about why the extra items where missing and they said they had no record of a starter kit being included. As for the one year in-home service plan they said I just need keep my invoice and to call Samsung if the TV should need service (I sure hope I never have to find out if this is true or not) in the next year. They shipped me a free two meter HDMI cable (which I don’t need at this time) for my inconvenience. I am compelled to mention that their rep offered me an RMA number to return the unit if I wasn’t statisfied, but I could not see spending $50 shipping to just get out of this deal when I was still a little cheaper that other retailers that where selling this model.
This experience was definitely a life lesson and I will spend more time in the future checking up on online sellers before I spend my hard earned money. I am sorry I didn’t come to this site first
