STAY AWAY FROM THESE THIEVES!

They are plain old criminals that charge you without any intention of shipping goods. I had exactly the same experience as many reviewers here - low price, quick charge on the card, pathetic excuses, promise of a refund, and nothing two months later. I am thinking of contacting Kings County authorities in addition to cancelling the charge - precisely this type of fraud gives Brooklyn bad reputation.

Even though I finally received my order, I have to say that I am completely dissatisfied with the way Monarch does business. They are totally lacking the most important aspect of a client-oriented business: COMMUNICATION.

I sent a short e-mail asking if there is a chance to get an order by a certain date – no reply at all. I also filled-out an online status request form – no reply, phone calls got routed to an answering machine and they never returned a call.

Also, they make it nearly impossible to figure-out the order status or get a feel for a shipping date – my order was sitting in limbo for a couple of days without any status at all, then a status showed-up with some vague verbiage about typical processing time and no firm dates whatsoever.

Their pricewatch.com advertisement states that they ship 97% of orders same day or within a day. The order status finally showed-up online after about day and a half: “Your order has been submitted to the warehouse for processing. Shipping from this point typically(!) takes 2-3 business days.” I had a very simple order – they just need to slap a shipping label on the box, so I really don’t get what kind of orders fall into 97%, if a very simple order takes 2-3 days after another couple of days just to ship.

UPDATE: They called me, somewhat apologized for the mess and made sure that everything is fine – that was a nice touch. Hopefully, they did it because they are trying to improve things and not because I left a bad review. I might give them another chance…

Absolutely horrible experience – STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS. I placed an order two weeks ago and I have no clue about what is going on with it. Their website is showing “pending” status for two weeks, they didn’t answer several requests submitted through the “contact us” form and there is no way to get a live person on the phone (I called many times during normal business hours). Apparently, there is also no way to cancel a “pending” order either, so I’m pretty much stuck.

That site is a scam. Somehow, they had managed to get a "Top Service" rating from Yahoo, but in reality, that's just another creative Internet fraud based on gray-market products, fake inflated ratings and false advertisement.

I've ordered a Sony digital camera from them because of the perfect Yahoo rating and a very low price. Then, I was informed that I MUST call them to confirm an order during normal business hours.

First of all, the sales rep tried to sell me all kinds of expensive accessories - I refused. Then, he politely informed me that my camera comes with NO WARRANTY AT ALL.

Actually, that was really a Japanese market camera that would take 2 WEEKS to deliver. The funniest thing is that their web site happily charged me extra $$$ for 2-day shipping without any indication that that's impossible. Also, there was virtually no indication on their site that that’s the case. After looking for 10 minutest at their product description I found a tiny “warranty: import” under TECHNICAL SPECS few pages down. As a normal human being, I knew what I was buying and didn’t bother to read “TECHNICAL SPECS”.

Then, the very polite sales rep informed me that I could actually buy a US-market camera for the extra $75. I had no choice, because I needed that camera for a gift and had absolutely no time to go to the store, so I agreed to pay extra $75. The next day I actually tried to find that +$75 US model on their web site, but I couldn’t. So, I don’t even know if that $75 is the right difference.

After that, the sales rep even more politely mentioned an insurance that they would charge on shipping and that it would add few more $$$.

GRAND TOTAL: $613 for the camera advertised for $475. I could buy it at the Circuit City for about the same price.

As a final touch, they mailed the camera via UPS with “Signature Required IN PERSON” option to my home address. So, I couldn’t even ask my neighbor to pick it up. I had to re-route a UPS package to the different state to get it. I bought stuff on the Internet probably 300 times, and nobody ever did that.
