It's truly amazing how a company that performs such abysmal in both product and service could last this long. It looks like X10.com puts more resources in advertisement, which caused it to go Chapter 11 in early 2000, than in product and customer service quality. And now, even when I decided to give X10 another chance, it's failed miserably again. My order (the home security system) died within one day of use. All sensors were unreliable (they worked whenever they feel like it and not when they are supposed to). And came the notorious customer service at X10.com. Actually there was absolutely no service other than causing the customers lots of headaches and pain. They also dragged their feet in refunding my money after the whole thing was sent back to them on an RMA.

The once known sleaziness of their websites has improved quite a bit with much less bikini clad women in cheap poses. The image of the company has not improved, but in fact, tarnished by its own extremely bad customer service. So, do yourself a favor: don't waste time and money on this company. Let it dies on its own weight of incompetence and poor management.

We ordered a system that included 16 cameras and a DVR. Two out of 16 camera stopped working after 2 weeks and the DVR had intermittent problem with recording. In dealing with Q-see tech support we realized how horrible the company was: they had a team of most incompetent individuals answering the phone. If they didn't mislead us in diagnosing the problem, they gave us the wrong web links to look up FAQ. Beside long waits on the phone, we got nothing solved with the online option. Q-see got us to sign up "customer profile", where all problems would be kept track by "incident numbers". But all those incidents were listed "solved" after 24 hours when none was actually resolved! When we finally got to speak with a supervisor, she claimed they "never got the response" from us. It looks to us, Q-see just wanted to collect personal information from us for purposes not related to providing support to customers. So, this in itself should raise serious questions.

So, to sum it up, Q-see's products are just as inferior, terrible, and low-quality as their customer service. Please don't repeat our mistake in doing business with Q-see. We ended return the whole system back to Costco, which is the only positive shopping experience we had in this particular case.
