We appreciated your working with us to get a solution on this one. It was a tough one because the symptoms pointed to a possibly bad board.
For others of you with overheating problems with CPUs, make sure you check to make sure that the mechanism holding the fan to the board is applying even pressure across the CPU face. Sometimes the face of the heatsink can come into contact with the edge of the ZIF socket, causing the sink to ride up slightly off the CPU.
