I purchased a new Panasonic 3D TV on ebay from Greystone Appliance/Dave. I have to say they were very prompt. So new $1000+ tv arrived in normal looking box, but when I opened it and set it up the picture was obviously defective - half of the picture was just vertical lines. I immediately contacted the Seller who says I was to check product to insure no physical damage before I accepted delivery, but all claims regarding defective product need to be addressed to the manufacturer. How was I to do that - tell UPS man to sit tight while I drove home and set up and checked the tv? So seller tells me to call Panasonic who in turn tells me to take my brand new tv to their approved repairman 15 miles away to have repaired. They said I can not return to them for replacement - only their dealer can do that. Not what i bargained for. I expect a "buyer friendly" Seller to go further and help their customer when new product arrives in a nice undamaged box, but is in a totally defective condition. I JUMPED GUN IN BEING NEGATIVE AS SELLER MADE CONTACT WITH MANUFACTURER FOR ME AND SCHEDULED TV TO BE PICKED UP AND REFUNDED ME INF FULL ASAP.

“As we explained to the customer, we clearly state in the terms of our eBay listings as well as in the returns section of our website, that if there is a defect the TV must go through the manufacturer for servicing. This includes if the TV is defective out of the box. We can only accept a return if there was physical damage to the TV. This is all clearly stated in our terms. We informed the customer when we sent the tracking info to check the TV to make sure there was no physical damage, and if there was any damage to refuse the delivery. However, it is not possible to set up the TV and check to make sure it is in complete working order while the carrier is present at the time of delivery, thus we do not ask the customer to do so. Every TV comes with a 1 Year Manufacturer Warranty, and if there is any defect it will be repaired at no cost. Since the Manufacturer was not able to repair the customer's TV in a timely manner, we had the TV picked up from the customer's residence and issued a full refund.”
