Excellent company for Instrument Financing
"Through using the financing service for Zzounds, I was able to provide my husband with an expensive guitar for his 50th birthday. This guitar was something he has wanted all his life and something I knew I could not pay for outright with cash. After 12 months, the guitar was paid off and my husband was totally surprised, happy and satisfied.I would not have been able to provide this wonderful experience without the financing service of Zzounds. The transaction was incredibly smooth and I highly recommend this company."
BEWARE!! ZERO QUALITY CONTROL!!
"I purchased a $400 Ibanez bass for my daughter for Christmas. Not having ever owned or played a bass before we were unaware the instrument arrived with a manufacturers defect and "frets out". She recently took a lesson, using the instrument for the first time, and learned there is a defect in the bass that should've been caught prior to shipping IF the shipper tuned and checked their merchandise prior to shipping. Upon contacting Zzounds I was informed we are "outside of their 45 day return policy" and to contact Ibanez directly. So now we have a $400 problem because they didn't bother to QC their merchandise. I should've read their reviews prior to purchasing from them. I'VE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH AMAZON STANDING BEHIND THEIR MERCHANDISE. Wish I'd've just stuck with a trusted and reputable company. "

If you don't get the item you ordered, they ban you?
"#1...I ordered an item. It showed "last one" on their site. The item was suppose to be with another item on the same order, but wasn't there when I received the package. I checked on line and it still said there was only one left, which told me they hadn't taken it off the shelf. I called and they acknowledged the error and shipped it. This time the item showed "sold out" on their site. They tried to charge me twice thinking I bought 2, so I called to fix that! I asked them to make sure they noted the account so I would stay in good standing with them. . . #2...A week later I ordered 2 different items. When the box arrived, it was mangled. They had so little tape securing the box that it opened up from the damage and one of the items must have fallen out. I took and sent them 6 pictures so they could claim it against FedEx. They were suppose to ship me another, but instead sent me an email the next day stating that because there were too many items that went missing (citing those 2 orders as the reason), they would just refund me and not send me the replacement they promised and would rather not do business with me! That's telling me they thought I was trying to scam them. I WAS NOT!!! What? How is that my fault? AND they also cancelled a back-ordered item I was waiting for. What am I suppose to do, pay for something that I didn't get, shut my mouth so I can continue to have the "privilege" of continuing to do business with them? No way! I plainly didn't get those items! So BEWARE!!! If you don't get what you ordered even if it's not in your control, they blame you and don't want to do business anymore!!! I still have 2 payment plans with them and have bought probably $5,000 +- from them in the past 4 years! Ridiculous!!! "
"I am surprised by the negative reviews here. I ordered a pair of XLS-215's and received them in two days (excluding the weekend). Thats pretty satisfying for free shipping. Unfortunately, when I opened them, one of the was damaged. This could have been anyone's fault. ZZounds, Cerwin Vega, Fedex, who knows, but obviously they have are accountable to me at this point. So I called them and the guy took my info and said I'd receive an email with instructions for a return from another department within 48 hours. I had the email the next day. I printed the label which covered shipping and dropped it of at UPS packed in the same box it came in that same day. As soon as UPS scanned it into their system, ZZounds sent out a replacement. 2 business days later again now and I'm vibrating out of my seat as I write this review. Honestly, I don't see a way it could have been handled better. I understand that's not everyone's experience, but there can always be issues. I'm judging them by how well they handled it and I will shop there again for sure."
Sold broken guitar
"Bought a "blemished" item for a Christmas gift for someone. The pickups were not working properly, the neck was horribly bent and unfixable due to a stripped truss rod screw, the tuning pegs and bridge were pretty tarnished and the nut was not attached. Customer service would not help at all due to it being after 45 days. The definition of a blemished item states the item is guaranteed to work perfectly, they do not stand by this claim after 45 days mind you. Customer service was also very rude and saw this as my problem and I should have noticed as they said. I was also able to confirm that when zzounds goes to list a blemished item there are no notes taken by the employee who looks at the item, so it could be broken and it would still be listed as it was in my case. Never ordering from them again."
"Ordered a brand new Fender Blues Deluxe, item delivered not working, called Zzounds and told me to return it by dropping it off to UPS (December 28) and once I drop it off I would get a tracking number which UPS will also send them and that they would send me the replacement as soon as they received tracking number from UPS, I tracked the item and it moved to two cities already so I called Zzounds again to see if they had send out the replacement already and they keep telling me their working on it, called them again every day and until now it's January 3 and they haven't sent my replacement yet!!! I will never again give my business to this company ever again! I heard better things with AMS."
Quick delivery and was in one piece!
"After reading a significant amount of negative reviews about this company, all I have to say is that they were somewhat "Okay". I ordered a Roland F-140R digital piano and arrived within the recommended time frame which was good, but when the package arrived, I was in great shock to see the box where the digital piano came from had knife marks and looked damaged which got me worried thinking that the piano itself was going to be scratched and defective... Luckily the piano itself had no marks and works really well with no defects, all the components were wrapped in their original bubble wrap and packed with the original styrofoam covers. My only concern is the box packaging and I am hoping that the damaged box packaging was caused by FedEx due to their shipping methods. Overall, this is a company that I may consider shopping from again due to their attractive financing deals!"
ZZOUNDS, a company you can trust for your music needs!
"My name is Julio Torres and I've been purchasing from Zzounds for a while now. Never had a problem and on the contrary I believed it to be the best company for any musician out there. Today when I thought I was going to have my first major conflict by not getting my new order placed by Christmas... they really went out of their way by sending a duplicate order and shipping it first Priority Overnight!!! What can I say! It doesn't get any better, and I truly recommend them to all of you. Way to go ZZOUNDS! Thank you! "
Good deal on a Blem 112 speaker cab.
"I was looking at this speaker cabinet for guitar. Found one a zZounds as a Blem. I took a chance. This is my first order from zZounds. It was a $30 discount on a $160 product (round numbers).Everything went well, shipping was fast, packing was good. The "Blem" in the product was someone had placed an amp head on the cabinet and it left impressions where the four "legs" were. Everything else was fine and the speaker sounds great. (Bugera 112TS - 80W 1x12" Cabinet)"
"I have bought multiple items from zzounds I overlooked the first mistake I ordered a 5 string bass and they sent me a 4 string. This time is just annoying and their return policy must not apply to faulty product. We ordered new strings at 32.00 and put them on the large one unraveled on first tuning. Although I have made several purchases through them they are not willing to replace the string. Very poor business. Will buy no further products from them."
Man did they deliver.
"I decided to upgrade from a pioneer ddj sx 2 to a ddj rz. I previously did all my business through American music supply. They however would not finance me for eight months only five which made my payments extremely high. I found this out after I placed the order and was kind of in a bind as I sold my sx2 on eBay the day I ordered the rz. The goal was to be able to make the payments out of the money I made DJing on Saturday nights. I was going to go through with it but decided I would see if anyone else would offer a similar financing arrangement. I found Zzounds website and rather then go through all the crap I called them. I talked to a guy in sales who actually knocked another 100 bucks off the price before we even started to place the order. I told him my situation and he told me he couldn't promise that he could finance me for eight months but would process the order and let me know if it went through before he charged my card. I received an email that it was approved and would have it in two days ( before the weekend ). For free shipping. It came in two days later as promised free shipping in perfect condition. Not to mention my payments are cheaper then they would have been through AMS. I have seen a few bad reviews online but you won't get one from me. They handled my situation professionally. Great job Zzounds."
zZounds reps are compulsive liars who say anything to make a sale.
"I purchased a left handed 8 string guitar for $650. Normally this model retails for $1100 so I got a pretty good deal. They listed it as "Blemished" which means used.I called before the purchase and the phone rep assured me that it would be covered under the Schecter used warranty.I made the purchase and my instrument was broken. The volume & tone nobs did nothing and the treble pickup was unmounted and falling into the strings.I called zZounds back and the rep again assured me that Schecter would cover it in their warranty... SO I called Schecter.I was promptly connected with their tech Jake. He noted to me that it is a used instrument and thus not covered by the warranty, which the warranty says in BOLD letters at the very top. He spent a good 6 hours of his time researching this issue for me.He offered to send me all the parts I needed to do the repair or to call back zZounds for support so I decided to call zZounds. The phone rep told me they acknowledged the problem and would be willing to fix the instrument for me. Great! Two days later I got an email from zZounds saying that they are not going to honor the repair and will only take it back as for a refund.zZounds blatantly lied to me on at least 3 occasions and refused to honor their word. I already repaired the instrument my self.Thumbs up to Jake though, he was a superhero. I'd definitely buy Schecter for my next new guitar due to his support in this matter alone. "
Never had an issue until I had an issue but they did finally get back to me
"I had to update my original review from one star to three stars. They finally got back to me, and said they would allow me to return the defective merchandise. But read on because in this case "defective" is a bit of an understatement. I think the response should have been much quicker based on the severity of the issue, that is at least in 24 hours, not over 48. In any case I sent the unit back to the manufacturer for warrantee work as the customer service rep first stated.Full story below. I would have hoped for more prompt service with this.I had ordered new equipment from ZZOUNDS in the past without issue, but apparently I have been lucky.I recently ordered a Tascam DP-24SD digital multitrack recorder from them, and noticed a problem that I first attributed to the grounding on a Fender Bassman head I was playing, that is, mild electrocution. When I was playing my guitar and recording I got a mild shock when I got too close to the dynamic mic when I went to sing. I have since found out through the use of a multimeter it was the recorder and found it was passing 50 volts off the case (I noticed the behavior with another amp, and realized the issue had to be the recorder). I contacted ZZOUNDS via the chat window, and since I was over the 45 day return period (by about 5 days or so) I was referred to the manufacturer for warrantee. I also requested a return via email because the unit is truly defective, but was never responded to. (I finally was 60 hours later)...Now, I know that 45 days are what their policy states (it took me a little while to notice the issue was the recorder because it only happens if I happen to complete the circut to ground somehow, as when I'm playing and singing while recording), but I would think in the case of mild electrocution and an obvious manufacturer defect they would make an exception and give me a replacement or at least expedite the warrantee shipping for me. And quickly! Apparently not. So the question is, why buy from them they do not offer prompt customer service if you really need it? There are lots of other online music retailers and local mom and pop music shops that offer sales support, prompt support, and a credible return policy if needed."
Stay away from Zzounds
"I bought a guitar from Zzounds in July 2015 because they offer a full refund if you don't like the instrument and return it within 45 days. I returned the Martin I bought in less than a week, fully inspected and carefully packed, but when they received it they claimed it had cosmetic damage and refused to refund my downpayment of $163.71. I replied via email that I had inspected the guitar before shipping and saw no damage and that it was unfair to refuse the refund, the full refund that they advertise on their website. They never responded and kept my money. Now a year later, July 2016, with no contact between us whatsoever in the past year, Zzounds is sending me emails asking for more money (actually tried to charge my credit card). Unbelievable! If you play guitar and Zzounds was the last place on earth to buy a guitar from, i would recommend you change to a different instrument."
