Very disappointed with their product! The other two frames that are made of real wood had dimples in the wood to make them look distressed. We were VERY satisfied with that product, and when we needed a frame for a reproduction antique sampler that I just finished we immediately thought of pictureframes.com. Because their unfinished frames were all too wide for this current project, we ordered 3-inch long samples of 7 different prefinished frames. The samples were free (just $2.50 postage) and arrived very quickly. The samples were great -- and allowed us to choose the one that looked best next to the sampler. We have now ordered the complete frame, including acrylic and foamcore backing. Until now. I received frames (Plein Aire custom made) that were so poorly made that I will never buy from them again. Wood was soft pine; splitting and splintering on the back. Sides were not aligned on assembly with mitered corners rough and staples showing through. Holes from knots in wood were gouged out, again on the back side. The frames are not THAT inexpensive that one should tolerate such poor materials. They replaced one of the frames that had a large chunk of wood missing on the back, but the replacement was barely better. I got a splinter from the peeling wood while I was unpacking it. NEVER AGAIN! They've lost a very longtime customer here and I can not recommend them again. If you're a painter, then use gallery wrap canvas. If you need frames, find someone to make them for you. Don't buy from pictureframes.com<br><br>Jan.18th. I tried to get in touch with them via phone and email and they basically blew me off: no return of phone call or email.
