I'm still waiting for Oliver Peoples glasses I ordered 3 months ago. I have enquired repeatedly and been told that they are having trouble locating the frames. This cannot be true as I can easily find the frames online. I feel that after 3 months wait it's fair to give a full refund, but they insist that they should keep 20%. Looking around online I can see that they are scamming loads of people in this way,
"My experience with OpticsFast.com was quite good. Their website showed that they carried the eyeglass frame I wanted, but would not allow me to order in the size I wanted. I called their sales line and Danielle told me the size I wanted was available and that I should place the order from the website and email her with the confirmation number afterward. She would then manually change the order to the desired frame size and re-confirm. Everything went smoothly. The eyeglass frame was shipped promptly and arrived as described and in excellent condition. In fact, the packaging was probably the most impressive I’ve seen with a box within a box – all well padded. I am sure I will use OpticsFast.com again."
I ordered a pair of Maui Jim Sunglasses on 12 January - price was ok - delivery charges ok - around $250.
On 16 January they advised that my order was not available - it was on backorder and it would be 2 weeks
On 25 January, they advised me again it would be '2 weeks'. When I queried this, Becky S. said she 'would let me know'.
On 2 February I emailed asking for progress. They did not respond.
On 10 February I again emailed to ask progress. Becky S. said it would be ‘around 2 weeks’.
As they have clearly NOT fulfilled the order, I told them to cancel the order. I received a very terse response to tell me that there would be a 20% charge if I cancelled.
I then told them that these glasses are for my husband. He has terminal metastatic melanoma – and only expected to live a few more months.
He can only wear this type of glasses, because both his ears have been removed along with the lymph glands in his neck on both sides. This style of glasses are the only ones he can wear, because they spring against his head and will stay up, without the support of his ears. He has a brain tumour and the sunlight hurts his eyes, so he must wear sunglasses.
At this rate, with their service and supply record, he will not live to be able to wear this order.
Becky S. had no reply but to repeat that if I cancelled the order, there would be a 20% charge.
When I pressed her, she admitted that she had no idea when the sunglasses would be back in stock, but that it could be "several weeks". BUT THAT IF I CANCELLED THE ORDER THEY WOULD CHARGE ME 20%.
I ASK YOU - IS THIS THE KIND OF STORE YOU WANT TO DEAL WITH!? "
"Horrible! Frames posted online stated the condition was "brand new" NOT TRUE!! received frames weeks late that had scratched off branding, missing unfit screws, dirt and grime in between frames. Horrible customer service when complaining. This is the response I got from their customer service rep Becky S: What? You are a joke, and now probably making up some story the frames are no good but we know we sent brand new frames.
