"These guys are horrible. Terrible customer service, terrible "Risk Management" group. I ordered my headunit ($1300) and subs ($400) from them the same day I bought my amps ($1000) and components ($400) from Sonic Electronix Thursday 4/11/2012. Sonic calls me the next day, validates my credit card information, shipping address and promptly ships out my order. OnlineCarStero sends me a link to download a "credit authorization" form... I needed to scan my license, credit card, front and back and email it back to them. I get it to them Friday afternoon, 4/12/2012. They sit on my forms and orders... I repeatedly email their customer support and risk management group for 3 days straight, then they finally call me and tell me the headunit is out of stock. So I tell them to give the next model up, which they did and finally shipped it out 4/19/2012 (yes a full business week later). Then after asking what the status on my subwoofers are they email me on 4/20/2012 telling me they were out of stock... These guys are terrible. The $5-$10 dollars you save with these guys is not worth the hassle of ordering anything from them, Trust Me. I will NEVER give them any of my business or cash again."
"I wish i had read these reviews first. I ordered a Jvc arsenal kd-a95bt stereo a week ago today. They charged me the amount of $234 and change. Its a week later and the item hasnt shipped. According to the website they dont charge you untill your order ships. Bullshit. They drafted the pmnt the day i ordered it. I tried emailing them twice. First time i got a computer generated reply with a ticket number. Havent gotten another one but i wasnt waiting 48 hrs for a response. I finally got through to someone this am and canceled my order. Im supposed to recieve an email confirmation soon...havent yet...i checked my order status online and it now says order voided. So thats good. Now if i am not refunded my $234 real soon ill just keep calling and harassing. Theres no way theyre keeping that money, when they shouldnt have taken it yet in the first place. Im trying to get out of this quick, i really wish i had seen these reviews first. I bet what i ordered wasnt even in stock. I emailed jvc and they said the unit in question was just released a few weeks ago. Ill update as soon as this progresses. Im recording all the calls via an app on my phone. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS WEBSITE!!!!"
"TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Placed order on March 1, 2012, got email stating that it shipped. It didn't ship, it is on backorder!! Yet they state on their website: We will not charge any amount to your credit card until the item actually ships.
Well, guess what, they charged my credit card. Just got off the phone to dispute this charge with my credit card company.
"Sent an email a couple days after order that it was out of stock, and alternatives were available, but didn't mention what. Read some reviews here, and decided to cancel order after all. Talked to a live person after about 2 minutes on hold, and he claimed to cancel the order no questions asked, and a confirmation would be emailed to me. And low and behold it was sent.
We'll give them that much, I actually had decent service, for what it was worth."
"I should have read this site before I purchased from them. Without ranting and pouting I will simply say that these people should not be in business, they are completely incompetent. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS VENDOR."
"Selling items that are not in stock! no emails or notification that it is back-ordered or product discontinued. would have waited and waited for nothing to arrive. "
"NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Go ahead and call them and see if you get an answer. I ordered Boston Acoustic speakers two weeks ago and I get an email saying they are on back-order. I used a holiday coupon which made the price $10 lower than anybody on the internet which is why I took the risk with this "company". I figured they just didn't want to sell them that low so I called (over an hour on hold) until I got through and asked if they had them in stock. THEY DID... Look at the reviews people. Don't waste your time. From here on out I wouldn't buy from this place if they were half the price as anywhere else."
"CROOKS...THEY SELL OPENED BOX MERCHANDISE AS FACTORY SEALED NEW YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!
I read these reviews after I ordered and had a problem. These people are telling the truth. Their problems were eerily the same as mine so there's definitely a pattern of the way they do business.
I ordered a Kenwood excelon XR-5S amp. when I got it, the box was torn and the instruction manual, warranty card, and allen wrenches (that are supposed to be included) were missing. The bag they were supposed to be in, was in the box, but torn open and empty. I could see marks where the amp had been bolted down before. I took photos of everything before I hooked it up. The light powered up, but that was all....DOA.
It took a week to get a Return Merchandise authorization from them. They wanted to see the photos (even of the shipping box, which was in perfect shape). I even sent a photo of my ASE Master Auto Technician certification that I've held for 17+ years to prove my competency to install and verify a defective amplifier (as if you need to be that qualified to install an amp)......That's right!! Per their policy, you have to have your equipment installed by a professional and provide a receipt to get warranty credit. Luckily I am a certified professional or I'd be SOL! Who the hell buys stereo equipment online, and then carries it to a stereo installation shop to have it installed? Usually you buy your equipment through your installer if you go that route (where you'll have a warranty on the installation).
Anyway, sent it back and waited a week for a reply. I emailed them multiple times requesting info on what they planned to do to rectify the situation. No replies until today. They first emailed saying they were sending a replacement out today. Two hours later, they email me stating they're sending it off for warranty repair. I contacted Kenwood last week and was told OCS is NOT an authorized dealer and they would NOT honor any warranty claims from items purchased through them. I wonder what "factory" they sent it back to for warranty. They're going to send it off for repair, then send that used POS to me and call us even??? That's a refurbished item at that point..and not even a Kenwood factory refurbished item either. Refurbished amps from Kenwood sell for upwards of $100 less than what I paid for a "Factory Sealed New Unit". Now I know how they sell for the price they do......
"TERRIBLE CUSTOMER TOOK FOREVER TO GET A REFUND-SENT A PRODUCT THAT HAD MISSING INFO ON THE PACKAGE SO THE WARRANTY IS VOID- THERE ARE BETTER OUTFITS OUT THERE"
"I purchased an MTX Amp for the reasons that on the website it stated that it was a brand new factory sealed item. As it arrived the shipping box was in good condition, but when we went to open the box for the Amp itself, it was not sealed with any tape and once it was opened 3 out 0f 5 accessory bags were in ziploc baggies that were very wrinkled and used looking. So I called customer service explaining the whole situation and I was asked to email the manager with pictures. Two days later I had to call in to ask why was I not responded to and then they had put me on hold and during the holding time they then responded to my email saying that there was nothing wrong with the product so they didn't see what the issue was. I asked to speak to the manager (Female, do not recall her name) on the phone and I told her that the only reason I purchased this item was due to the fact that there website stated that it was a brand new factory sealed item I was told by her that is how MTX ships out there items. I then called MTX and explained the situation and the told me that "NO" we do not send our accessory items in wrinkled ziploc baggies. So I recalled the manager for OnlineCarStereo again. I told her that I purchased an item based on a lie. She was so unprofessional that she hung up on me. I continued recalling and each time I did I was put on hold for over a half hour and was never attended to. So I just gave up. I like to shop and save $$, but I have learned that when you deal with nonprofessional businesses like this one you get jacked. I would not recommend this business to anyone. "
"Bought a replacement car stereo, face plate and wiring harness adapter. Everything I ordered arrived well packaged and the stereo has been working great."
"I am extremely disappointed with the way Onlinecarstereo.com handled the return of my brand new unit sold to me by OnlineCarStereo.Com which was defective. I've shipped back and returned the unit last June 2, 2011. Instead of replacing the brand new defective unit immediately, your company repairs the defective unit and make your customers wait many many weeks.
This is the first time I've experienced buying a new defective unit and not replaced with a new working unit, very bad business practice,
Today which makes it exactly 26 days since I shipped the unit to OnLineCarStere.Com. Customer Service said the status is still unknown. I would recommend not to do business with this company."
"Order placed 5/9/11, not filled until 5/12/11, at which time the one of the items, the main item, was no longer in stock. Numerous phone calls did nothing to help. Every time I called I spoke with the same Juan Lopez no matter when I called, and he was no help whatsoever. I finally got the item in question from PacificStereo.com, who went above and beyond to fill my order and get it to me quickly. Buy from them."
"You are seriously taking your chances with onlinecarstereo.com
I ordered an in dash navi system as a present for my niece who was turning sixteen. I intended to get it there before she actually got the license, but onlincarstereo couldn't figure out that the shipping address was added to my credit card so the order was held up unnecessarily in Risk Management. I finally received a notice that it was ready to ship almost a week later. Then, a week after that, I got a notice that it was back ordered and wouldn't ship for another 24-48hrs. A week went by and having heard nothing, I called and was told they weren't likely going to get that product again. Once "customer service" realized I wasn't going to buy a different stereo from them, all they wanted to do was get me off the phone and had no interest in answering my questions or trying to fix the situation."
