"Cheap prices, but terrible support.Buying on this site is like betting - substitutions are usual practice, returns are not practically possible. Avoid it by all means !"
"I ordered a part on their website that I was having trouble finding on any other site. After a week passed without any word from them I decided to call to check on the order status. At this point I was informed that the product was discontinued. The customer service agent let me know that the case would be sent to their supervisor since they could not give a refund. This was fine, although it would have been nice to have informed me earlier that the item was discontinued I wasn't to put off by this. However, getting a refund took another week to get. Since I still needed the part I tried to order it from another website. Not until after the order did I realize that the website actually placed the order with X10 again. Knowing that the item was discontinued I immediately sent an e-mail to X10 to get a refund. I forgot about this for a little while until I finally got an answer several weeks later saying that the case was sent to a supervisor. After another couple of weeks I tried to contact X10 again but with no response. Finally, after over a month and a half of waiting for a return I filed a Paypal claim. To my surprise this somehow got their attention as I got my refund the day after I filed the claim. This made it obvious to me that this company is not one I trust and not one I ever want to ever deal with in the future."
"This seller's communication is very poor. This is the second time I had to contact them about shipping delays even though Google checkout had sent me shipping confirmation emails. It seems that if the item is not in stock they just wait until it becomes available even though your credit card is charged immediately. On this occasion they could not even tell me when the item would be available but still did not see it fit to contact me.Do not purchase from this seller unless you are absolutely certain the item is available for immediate shipping because while their payment is immediate, your refund isn't."
"I order this thing in 7/15 because it's free after rebate. They ship out in a few days and received about 1week. I open the box, try to test it and see the quality, then i found the product doesn't seems working right, then I decided to return it. I paid shipping and ship it back to x10, they received it on 7/30, email me on 8/4. I called them on 9/9 and a lady told me it's still processing and will issue credit soon. 2 weeks pass but no refund, I file dispute with my credit card, I used google checkout and it make things little more complicated because I dispute google, not x10. Finally on 10/12, not sure is it because google, credit card or x10, I got my refund. Almost 2.5month later. Beware of this company, I will never buy from this company, even its FREE or FREE after rebate."
"I join the long list of 'this is trash'. I have been trying to get this stuff working since Dec 2010. If you have any kind of wireless running in your house the motion sensors will not work. To be of any use you have to have a crossover put in your elec panel box. Power supplies very sensitive to lightening. Picture quality on PC is junk. Vanguard software is very unstable. If you can get it installed! High level tech support? Non-existant. Every order seems to have defective parts and the replacement has been defective. Probably just returned what I sent back or what someone else returned. And now they have cut their support hours. These folks have been around for years. Hope they go out of business. Do not buy this crap!"
"Bought their advertised Free after rebate items during the July sale. Order included: Low light cameras, Night-watch cameras, motion sensors, receiver and more. Over all I was unimpressed by the cameras. They are designed like items you would have bought in 2000. The computer webcams you can buy at the local store are a lot better. For being free after rebate I can not complain. Contacting support was easy and my questions were answered. Within a few minutes a chat log of the conversation was sent to my email (for those that have ever dealt with customer service this is an extremely nice touch when something promised does not go through.) Rebate took two and a half months, but did show up in full. Would I recommend buying from them? Probably not. The website reminds me of a tv infomercials. The constant emails they send can be rather annoying. For the price you can probably find better quality items elsewhere. "
"August 03, 2011 - product returned via UPS with RMAAugust 04, 2011 - product received at X10.com NJ addressSeptember 01, 2011 - called x10.com regarding pending refund - was told by "Aaron" that he would refer my query to a supervisor.September 12, 2011 - called x10.com again. spoke to "Aaron" again who stated the supervisor he spoke with 10 days ago was not in.It has been over 5 weeks since their defective product was returned and received. They are not honoring their written commitment to refund within 30 days.DO NOT purchase anything from X10.com - you will be very unhappy with their "service after the sale"."
"I am truly sorry (and getting sorrier by the minute) that I recommended X10's equipment to a good customer of mine. I have spent no less than 30 hours trying to troubleshoot first the Vanguard system, then the Sentinel system, then finally Active Home Pro when neither of the other 2 worked. Active Home remote viewing doesn't work either, at this point in time. I've been in the computer business for 16 years and I have yet to see software from a supposed 'security company' that is as insecure and buggy as this. THIS SOFTWARE USES ACTIVE_X FOR THE REMOTE 'WEB VIEW' AND DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 7 64 BIT SYSTEMS! Period! ActiveX is old technology and it doesn't appear that they have any fixes in the works. Tech support has been marginal, mostly consisting of 'standard response' solutions that I have already tried. The wireless cameras are another horror story in themselves, but I'm not going to get into that right now. Buyer Beware!!"
"This company is a giant RIPOFF. Their junk works intermittedly and they scam their customers. "
"THIS PRODUCT IS A POS!! DO NOT BUY! I've had 2 professionals attempt to install and it doesn't work. DO NOT BUY!"
"Seems like customer service is same quality as the product. When I called in for not getting the rebate couple of weeks back (7/25/2011 and 8/1/2011), they confirmed I should get it next week . When today I emailed them 8/11/2011, I was told that they didnt get my rebate. Seems like their answer is like their product as it may work or not and have your fingers crossed. Please keep off their products and the company as it is not worth anything"
"X-10 claimed that for $79.99 I could get a 2-camera WIRELESS surveillance system. There is very little that is "wireless" about it. They claim that the cameras can be used outdoors. The cameras may transmit wireless but they need their own AC power supply. They claim you can mount them under the eaves of you roof. The only way you could do this would be with extention cords and holes drilled through the walls of your house. This was my first order with X-10 and will likely be my last. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. I won't be fooled by this outfit again. "
"Which is worse customer service or the product? Both!I will never order from them again. There is an old saying you get what you pay for. The cheap comes out expensive. Ordered wireless tv to use on second tv not even 15 feet away so much interference product unusable. One would think the Engineers of these product would use a higher unobstructed frequency.JUNK"
"Purchased their universal remote which alleges to be better than Logitech Harmony series. NOT! The X10 site claims the "Nsinct" (should be named "ItStinks"!) can be set up in less than 3 minutes. HA! After 3 hours of tinkering and constantly starting over, I threw in the towel. Settings would get lost and I'd have to start over.In addition, the 5 TINY buttons down each side of the remote at totally NOT ergonomic and are hard to hit correctly with an adult finger.I immediately repackaged it and applied for an RMA. The address to where I returned the remote is about an hour away from my location, yet it took EIGHT days to get "into their system" and took 24 days till I got my refund.I went to Radio Shack and purchased the Logitech Harmony 650 and couldn't be happier. Avoid this remote like the plague"
"X10.com sent the wrong item, along with some additional ordered items. Upon calling them to inquire about the order, I was given no option but to ship the entire order back...at my expense. I asked the X10.com person why they knowingly shipped the wrong item, and was told "We don't ship from here." That's it, and he wouldn't elaborate. All he wanted to know was if I wanted the RMA or not. That was the first time I had heard "RMA" in the conversation. All additional questions were ignored and I could tell that I was going to get hung-up on at any moment. An hour after the end of the call, an RMA arrived in my email. This transaction seems to closely track the bad experiences others have had with X10.com. At this point I have every expectation that the refund process will be equally troubling. The bad business dealings by X10.com, as chronicled here, are very likely to extend to you! DO NOT BUY FROM X10.COM. "
