"I am truly sorry (and getting sorrier by the minute) that I recommended X10's equipment to a good customer of mine. I have spent no less than 30 hours trying to troubleshoot first the Vanguard system, then the Sentinel system, then finally Active Home Pro when neither of the other 2 worked. Active Home remote viewing doesn't work either, at this point in time. I've been in the computer business for 16 years and I have yet to see software from a supposed 'security company' that is as insecure and buggy as this. THIS SOFTWARE USES ACTIVE_X FOR THE REMOTE 'WEB VIEW' AND DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 7 64 BIT SYSTEMS! Period! ActiveX is old technology and it doesn't appear that they have any fixes in the works. Tech support has been marginal, mostly consisting of 'standard response' solutions that I have already tried. The wireless cameras are another horror story in themselves, but I'm not going to get into that right now. Buyer Beware!!"

"Seems like customer service is same quality as the product. When I called in for not getting the rebate couple of weeks back (7/25/2011 and 8/1/2011), they confirmed I should get it next week . When today I emailed them 8/11/2011, I was told that they didnt get my rebate. Seems like their answer is like their product as it may work or not and have your fingers crossed. Please keep off their products and the company as it is not worth anything"
"X-10 claimed that for $79.99 I could get a 2-camera WIRELESS surveillance system. There is very little that is "wireless" about it. They claim that the cameras can be used outdoors. The cameras may transmit wireless but they need their own AC power supply. They claim you can mount them under the eaves of you roof. The only way you could do this would be with extention cords and holes drilled through the walls of your house.This was my first order with X-10 and will likely be my last. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. I won't be fooled by this outfit again. "
"Which is worse customer service or the product? Both!I will never order from them again. There is an old saying you get what you pay for. The cheap comes out expensive. Ordered wireless tv to use on second tv not even 15 feet away so much interference product unusable. One would think the Engineers of these product would use a higher unobstructed frequency.JUNK"
"Purchased their universal remote which alleges to be better than Logitech Harmony series. NOT! The X10 site claims the "Nsinct" (should be named "ItStinks"!) can be set up in less than 3 minutes. HA! After 3 hours of tinkering and constantly starting over, I threw in the towel. Settings would get lost and I'd have to start over.In addition, the 5 TINY buttons down each side of the remote at totally NOT ergonomic and are hard to hit correctly with an adult finger.I immediately repackaged it and applied for an RMA. The address to where I returned the remote is about an hour away from my location, yet it took EIGHT days to get "into their system" and took 24 days till I got my refund.I went to Radio Shack and purchased the Logitech Harmony 650 and couldn't be happier. Avoid this remote like the plague"
"X10.com sent the wrong item, along with some additional ordered items. Upon calling them to inquire about the order, I was given no option but to ship the entire order back...at my expense. I asked the X10.com person why they knowingly shipped the wrong item, and was told "We don't ship from here." That's it, and he wouldn't elaborate. All he wanted to know was if I wanted the RMA or not. That was the first time I had heard "RMA" in the conversation. All additional questions were ignored and I could tell that I was going to get hung-up on at any moment. An hour after the end of the call, an RMA arrived in my email.This transaction seems to closely track the bad experiences others have had with X10.com. At this point I have every expectation that the refund process will be equally troubling.The bad business dealings by X10.com, as chronicled here, are very likely to extend to you! DO NOT BUY FROM X10.COM. "
"Ordered over Labour Day, so I didn't expect a quick response, but I still got one! Package got to me by that Friday, and Canada Post held it for me until I could pick it up later that day. Being a bit of a geek I expected to settle down and learn the system, but it was surprisingly easy. I picked up a few books from the library and done some reading online (forums) so I knew what to order/what to expect and it's been pretty painless.First modules worked right on plug in and I've had no problem yet. I even went and bought used modules from someone else second hand, and all I had to do was set the house + unit codes, no issue integrating.My only gripe was that I didn't get a tracking number when the order was shipped, but I posted on the Favebook page, where Lacreshia got back to me instantly with all the info via e-mail. Even on replies, her response time was under 10 minutes, which did impress me.Thanks!"
"I ordered the vanguard security system 6 cameras back in april and have been trying to get it to work to no avail.First they said I had a bad reciver so I waited 2 weeks for a new one.When I got it I was able to get 2 of 6 cameras to work then none of them worked so after being on hold for days they said i had a bad reciver so I waited 2 more weeks and when I got my reciver guess what?Yep 2 cameras out of 6 worked,So I called and E-mailed and after days of frustration I told them I did not need their junk and asked for a refund and was told it had been over 30 days and could not have a refund.After talking to a supervisor and threatened to burn the store,I was told I could have a refund,I am waiting for label to send their junk back.While waiting on the phone I ask do you sell any systems that work and was told all our systems work,and I said mine don't and I have a friend who bought one the same time I did and his won't work either so I tend to beleive that none of X-10's junk works!WARNING-stay away from x-10 its junk! "Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Product never worked. Then kept telling me I have it set to the wrong channel. These people are the rudest customer service reps ever. They kept telling me they shipped my replacement parts over the weekend. They do not even work on the weekend in shipping. Bunch of liars. STAY AWAY!!"
"I have read through a many of these reviews and it became quickly apparent that a high percentage of the 5 star posts were writen by the same person, with the same script, just change a few names. Dispicable people.My girlfriend spent almost $500 on this junk and its a can of worms.Stay far far away from this company."
"I just purchased a new computer. I Called X10.com and talked to Lindsey. After I gave her my order number, she immediately sent a new link and I was able to download the software and transfer data. The process was very easy and quick. I am happy!"
"Customer service at X-10, varies, but usually they are helpful, I had a bad experience with one guy name Tymon, he lied to me about giving me voucher discount, (which he didn't in final sale), but then I spoke to other guy name John G. and he was wonderful, knowing that i am not buying anything still he spend half an hour with me to solve the problem to get my $15 back, and next day I finally got $15 back to my CC, Thanks John and X-10. "Worst customer service ever!! I've ordered many items from them over the years and everything went fine. Now they are the worst company. I've tried to order their computer interfaces, since they brick when the date changes to the new year, for 3 weeks. First order processed and charged to my credit card, but never showed up. After more than a week I emailed them, Was told they ran out of the interfaces and my order was cancelled. THEIR SYSTEM DOES NOT EMAIL YOU WHEN THEY CANCEL AN ORDERED He told me. Yet they can send you their ads every day! I emailed them again asking about my other items I ordered. Why didn't they ship them. No reply! 3 days later I see on their website a deal for the day only the interfaces I wanted. Order them and other items again. 2 orders processed...wait nothing. I request a staus of the order online and it says "you will receive and answer in 10 minutes" 24 hours later nothing. Just called their phone number and customer service not available. Go online and select chat. Ask the person where my order was. Cancelled again! I ask why and she sends me chat stating this chat is ONLY for ordered. Go online and find out.This is the end of my ordering through them. Go to another vendor or switch from x-10 to other devices maybe Z"
