"This vendor is terrible and I would never consider purchasing from them again. They advertise their products falsely and employ the bait-and-switch tactic. I ordered a Nikon D80 with 18-55mm VR lens and got an email asking to call them to confirm billing address. The representative tried to sell me an extended battery and warranties, which I kindly declined. He then informed me that the camera is a Japanese modelf and if I wanted the US model it would "only" be $200 more. None of this was ever disclosed on their site when I was placing my order, and when I expressed this, he acted as if it was no big deal and that's just how they operate. I quickly cancelled the order and told him that I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau for unethical business practices and false advertising."
"Terrible service. Very dificult to contact customer service because of heavy congestion and hours of operation are few compared to other merchants. My order was placed 5/21/08 and, allthough promised in 2 days because of a photo trip, I still don't have it and had to leave on the 5/31/08. @nd day shipping was paid. I have talked several times with them and always the lens was promised for the next day. I think they don't have it in stock but don't want to loose the sale. Lies and deceptive tactics seem to be their politic. "
"STAY AWAY!! NOT WORTH THE AGGRIVATION!! TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!!! Wild Digital is part of the Broadway Photo / A&M Photo World, Regal Camera, Prestige Camera, Preferred Photo, Royal Camera group of scam artists. DON’T USE ANY OF THESE COMPANIES—THEY ARE ALL RELATED AND USE THE SAME TACTICS.
All these companies have the same website design, the same ads, the same product descriptions and the same listed prices. They suck you in with seemingly great low prices but in the end, if your time, blood pressure reading, and faith in your fellow human beings are worth anything to you, you will ultimately pay far more than you expect. You will actually come out ahead by paying a little more up front at a reputable vendor. This is the important point and the reason you are researching these companies at this site. The $100 you MIGHT save by going to these people is simply not worth the time and aggravating effort you will have to expend in trying to make them live up to their end of the bargain. You can read about my ordeal if you have time, but the short answer to your question about which vendor to choose is in the old adage: “IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS.”
16 Jan—Ordered a TomTom 920T GPS from Wild Digital at their advertised price of $459 after first confirming from Jonathan that they had several in stock. The price was over $100 less than their nearest competitor and I decided it was worth the risk…
17 Jan—Received an email from WD stating that the item I had ordered was “currently unavailable”. I called to find why I had been told the opposite when I placed my order. At this point we got into the Bait and Switch game—the advertised model was a non-US model with Asian maps instead of US and Europe and by the way, didn’t I want to order the upgraded 4 hour battery instead of the 1 hour battery that was included… I had done my homework with TomTom’s tech reps and knew the battery ploy was BS. I told him I didn’t want the extended battery and ask him for customer service. After holding for 30 minutes I spoke to Gabriel who was surprisingly cordial after I explained the issues. He apologized for the mix up and said they did have the US version in stock but that Wild Digital's cost was $490. He would let me have it at that price and would throw in a screen protector and a cleaning kit (each “a $10 value”…). He sounded sincere and the total was still way less than any other place so I agreed. I got a shipping confirmation and tracking number late that night.
21 Jan—Received a TomTom 920—not a 920T. The T indicates an included Traffic antenna and is worth $100. I was also charged a $7.88 “Insurance Fee” that I was not told about and that I didn’t authorize. I called WD Customer Service and spoke to Gabriel again. He apologized and gave me a return authorization number, stating that they still had 920Ts in stock and would priority ship one to me right away. I returned the 920 via the USPS at my cost.
28 Jan—Called Customer Service because I had yet to receive a tracking number—much less the actual GPS via “Priority” shipment. I was told that the returned GPS had just been processed and that the new one would now be shipped.
1 Feb—Received a TomTom 920!! Once again THE WRONG MODEL!!! I called CS again and spoke to Marlin who was very apologetic, told me UPS would pick it up on Monday (4 Feb) and he would “overnight” the 920T.
5 Feb—Still no pick-up. Still no delivery. Called and spoke to Gabe again. He said UPS would pick up the 920 on 7 Feb and he would overnight the 920T.
7 Feb—UPS picked up the 920.
11 Feb—Spoke to Michael and ask WTF my GPS was. He said they had just processed the return and would overnight the 920T—Does any of this sound familiar??????
14 Feb—Spoke to Jessie WHO SAID THEY DON’T CARRY THE 920T!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! After explaining the situation to him again in words of one syllable, he said it had actually shipped out on the 12th—or maybe on the night of the 13th! No, he didn’t have a tracking number to give me but he was sure it would arrive later today. Or tomorrow.
15 Feb—After a solid month of agony, frustration, lies and hours on hold I finally got the damn GPS I ordered. I would gladly pay more than the shitty $50 I ended up saving to have that part of my life and sanity back.
Save yourself. Don’t order anything for any reason from any of these companies.
"Wild Digital is the worst on line shopping experience I have ever had. They are scam artist and will try to reap you off. There are hidden charges such as they say free shipping and charge you $60 dollars for a stocking fee. They will send you an email and ask you to call in to confirm your order and try to sell you more stuff telling you "oh that camera will not work with your old card". I could go on and on but I will just say DO NOT USE WILD DIGITAL !!! "
"I will never think about ordering from them again. THey pulled the bait and switch and tried to sell extra batteries and what not. I agreed to go with the "US Retail Version". I received the Bait. Called them up and they were not understanding at all.
""I got my merchandise but was overcharged $85 for shipping. This vendor will not respond to e-mail. There are other suppliers... go somewhere else." "
"I purchased a Nikon D80 and a Nikon 18-200 mm AFS-DX VR II lens. I recently found out from Nikon USA that the lens and camera were both Gray Market items. This is the seventh digital camera I've purchased and I remember specifically asking if the items were made for sale in the USA and was assured by Greg that they were. After i learned they were Gray Market I called and asked for a return authorization and was refused. They lied to me and I am warning anyone who is considering doing business with them to read all the comments here first."
"Very very bad experience. Advice... Do not allow them to sell you anything more than what you originally go to them for. Their sales folk are very high pressure and their satisfaction guarantee policy is impossible to work through since they do not stand by original verbal agreements (the sales folks apparently do not know what the actual policies are and they will tell you whatever it takes to make the sale. I originally went to them for a camera. The sales agent suggested a few extras and said they would all be refundable to my credit card if I found them unsatisfactory. All WRONG. Customer service told me it was all one package and could not be broken down into individual items. So I returned everything and gladly paid the restocking fee since in the end I saved over $150 (on a $700 order) by buying elsewhere."
"This is the most unethical internet vendor I've ever used. After several weeks of waiting I began getting phone calls from Wild Digital wanting address verification. This was a rouse to hard sell additional goods and to inform me that the olympus digital camera I purchased was the japan version and it did not have a US warranty. It also came with a 20 minute battery pack. If I wanted the US version with the US warranty and a battery that lasted two hours I would need to add an additional non trivial sum of money. I was so upset since none of this was disclosed when I ordered the camera. Stay away from Wild Digital."
"I purchased a SIGMA lens which was heavily discounted compared to other online stores. I needed this lens ASAP so I purchased with UPS Next Day Air.
The order was placed on a Sunday and I got the package on Thursday. This shows that their processing is very slow. I had called twice to get a tracking number with no results. The first time I called I was shocked that the guy was trying to throw me a sales pitch on lens filters. He then gives me an attitude while asking if I even know what a lens filter is.
I then try to get him to confirm the time the package will be shipped, and he hangs up on me.
The second call for a tracking number gets me nothing once again. I tell the phone rep how much of a hurry I am in and that If it's not shipped by thursday I will be forced to cancel the order. The sales rep did not seem to care at all, just says ok.
I was assured a tracking number I never got. Their phone reps are rude. Processing is slow. They'll try to sell you on other items during the order confirmation process. The Order Confirmation Email does not include a price which I find very strange...
Although the price was better than some others, I would not recommend this site. Customer service is key, and they need a lot of work. If I had known about how poorly they would handle their customers, I would have gladly paid the extra cost in dealing with better known sites."
"Low cost Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2K, 10.2 Megapixel, 4x Optical/4x Digital Zoom, Digital Camera (Black). The camera is a "grey-market" camera. The manual was a reproduction of an english manual, and the warantee is not as good as a domestic model. Wilddigital forces you to call them to confirm your credit card. Then they try to upsell you a bunch of accessories you don't really need. They will even lie to scare you into buying things. example: When I called they wanted me to know the battery that comes with the camera on lasts 20 minutes and takes 8 hours to charge, an outright lie. They were more than happy to sell me an additional battery for $89 that would fix that! Their battery, in addition to being grossly over priced, was a 710mAh battery! Almost half the power capability as the one that comes with the camera! Don't even ask about the $300 SD memory they are trying to sell you, it is only 512MB! a 4GB stick only cost me $50 at Newegg. In short, if you are ok with grey market cameras, thats fine, but don't buy any upgrades from them, it is just a pure rip-off!"
"Order a Nikon rangefinder. Got an email next day to verify the order which is their method to sell you bogus warranty and ridiculous priced accessories. The guy says the item comes with 3 month warranty when it actually comes with 1 year and says that the battery that comes with the camera only lasts 20 minutes, and tried to sell me both. I kindly declined. Then it took 3 days after that to ship the item.
In all in all, I got the item at the best price beating the second lowest priced seller Amazon by $60. Not a good buying experience, but that's what you have to endure to get the best value."
"I called and got a real person quickly. He was courtious and helpful. When he uggested I buy an extra battery, I declined and he was not forceful.
They did misspell my name and I did not receive a confirmation e-mail or tracking info. When I called a week later they found my order and informed me that it had shioped and would arrive that day.
The item arrived as represented that day via UPS. I would buy from this store again based on my experience. I saved about 25% on a Sanyo camcorder."
