"I also am one of those people who never takes the time to write a review, but, for your sake, I am! I placed my order for a camera lens (because they had the best price) and chose upgraded shipping in order to receive my item in time for Christmas. I, too, received the email stating they needed to "confirm" my order, so I called and was asked if I wanted the Japanese or American version of the lens - the difference being that the Japanese version had plastic instead of glass for the lens (odd, I thought, but my husband is the photography guru). So the lens price then almost DOUBLED (and was now no longer the cheapest price, but I wanted it to come in time for Christmas and I was still taken aback by my order going from $300 to almost $600 that I didn't even think to respond by saying "NO WAY!"). No lens by Christmas. I called today and spent my obligatory half hour on hold, to be sent on to the next person and waited another ten minutes, but since the lens hadn't even shipped yet, I THANKFULLY was able to cancel the order. I also had sent repeated emails and tried to call during hours they were supposedly open with no response (starting Friday and just today, Tuesday, had success).
PAY A FEW DOLLARS MORE AND GO ELSEWHERE! TOP CHOICE DIGITAL IS A SCAM!!!!"
"I placed an online order for a camera from topchoice digital on the 9th and received an order confirmation the same day. The next day, I received another email stating: "In order to further verify your order #__________, we will need to speak with you on the phone. Please call our processing department at 1-800-849-0842 Extension 266 so we may verify and process your order." I called and got the message: "Messages may not be left for mailbox 0," before the phone hung up. I called the number back, but did not dial the extension, but depressed #2 for customer service when given the automated options. Put on hold for so long, I finally hung up. I then emailed them to cancel the order if they could not fill it, as I didn't have time to mess around with poor service. The next day I received another email exactly like the first one mentioned about calling them. After getting the same response when trying to call them, I emailed the support@topchoicedigital.com given in the order confirmation email and told them to cancel the order. Again, no response or acknowledgement of my email. I ordered the camera from another company the next day. On the 15th I received the second camera I had ordered and the same afternoon an email from orders@topchoicedigital.com stating my order was processed. I replied to the email that I had already cancelled the order, but it was returned as not a valid email address. I then emailed the cancellation to support@topchoicedigital.com and received an auto email from Radiant Communications instead of Topchoice Digital. I had never heard of Radiant Communications previously. This was followed by an email from Radiant Communications that they had received an email they believed was meant for TopChoice Digital. I then checked my sent file and the email was definitely sent to Topchoicedigital.com, so explain how Radiant Communications got it? On the 17th I received an email from ordertracking@topchoicedigital that my order had been shipped. It arrived on the 19th and I refused it. UPS delivered it back to Topchoice Digital on the 22nd and on the 29th, I still was waiting for my refund. BAD, BAD experience and terrible communication and service!
"Order was placed on 12/22 salesperson contacted me on 12/24 attempting to sell me batteries because he said the stock factory camera came with a 15 minute battery, I did not bite on that BS line. He proceeded to sell me a storage card 2 GB for $89. When I told him to cancel the order he agreed to the original order of $226.99 however I needed to pay $19.95 S&H fee. I told him that I have a screen print of the transaction and it does not show any such fees. Now I have a UPS tracking number but no pick up by UPS has been requested. I suspect that my credit card has been charged with no order fullfilment. These guys are SCAM ARTISTS
"I placed an order at TopChoiceDigital.com on Dec 17/08. I didn't hear anything from them for a couple of days (usually confirmation emails arrive right away). On Monday (Dec 22), I googled them for reviews and was pretty horrified at what I found: I did NOT want to deal with a company that got "fraud" and "scam" feedback from people. I wanted to "stop payment" on the transaction (like you would with a check) and called my bank's credit card line - but you can't do that. I didn't want to call TopChoiceDigital in case they gave me a lot of hassle. I checked my CC account online - there was no charge yet (PHEW!).
On Tuesday (Dec 23) while I was thinking about what to do, they called me to confirm my order and I said I wanted to cancel it. They asked why, and I said I'd gotten the same item as a birthday present to my surprise. They said they would email me a cancellation confirmation within the hour.
I didn't get it, so I emailed them today to say that I would like the cancellation email. A few hours later, I thought to check my junk-mail box. Sure enough, there were emails there from Thursday and Friday asking me to confirm, AND the cancellation confirmation from Tuesday. PHEW! I emailed them saying to disregard my last email about not getting the cancellation email.
If you are coming to this page after placing your order, and after reading the reviews you want to cancel, just make sure after cancelling, that you have the cancellation email (and your order number). If you can check your credit card account online, do so. If you can't, you can probably call your bank/credit company to confirm if there is a charge on your account.
I thought about reporting my card lost/stolen or cancelling my account altogether, but found out that they can STILL charge your account because you agreed to the transaction before doing so. So I decided not to do that. Instead, if your account gets charged, you can dispute a transaction with your CC company and they can try to get the $ back for you. Make sure you have the order number and evidence of cancellation (like their email, and that's why I emailed them asking to cancel when I thought they hadn't emailed me, because if I needed it, then it could be some proof that I tried to cancel the order)."
"I normally don't write reviews but I want to let buyers know what a great company Top Choice Digital is. All negative reviews are not fair. I did call but I'm happy because they just want a safe transaction for me by asking the delivery address, nothing else, they did not promote something else for me to buy. They even said they can't deliver before Christmas but I got it today, December 23rd! I will buy again from them and recommend them to friends. Great guys, keep up the good work!!! Very satisfied with my purchase, a Garmin Nuvi 750."
"I read the recent reviews that have been posted about this site, but I decided to take a chance since they advertised the lowest price for the product I was interested in (Canon SD 880 IS). I placed my order, got the email about calling in to verify order, called and left a message, got no call back after a few hours, called again, verified my order, and then I recieved the package 2 days later just like the guy said I would. It arrived in perfect condition. There were no signs that the package had been tampered with. There weren't even any fingerprints on the camera. So I did not have the experience that so many others have claimed to have had. I will consider ordering from them again. By the way, the Canon SD 880 IS is a pretty great little camera. I'd even say it takes better pictures than my Canon S3 IS."
"I ordered a flash unit for $340 with free shipping. When they called the next morning to confirm the order, first I got the upsell on a larger battery and extended warranty (the offer was phrased as to which of the two upsell options I wanted, not what the unit came with). Second a handling charge never mentioned on the web site magically appeared. Third, the price of the unit went up. As a result, I canceled the order. Had I not been conscious of such tactics from other web sites, I'm sure I would have fallen pray to their tactics. In summary, they lack integrity and I will never order from them again."
"I placed an order on 12/08/08 have E-mailed their support division and they do not have the decency to answer any e-mails. They state they will answer in 24 hours well today is the 17th some support system they offer. You can't even track your order from them because once they take your order you never receive anything else from them even tho they say you will be receiving a confirmation SOON. Finally this morning after being on hold for 23 min I reached a rep. told them to cancel my camera lens order all of a sudden my order was SHIPPED today! Amazing. When it comes I am sending it back and after 10 days if it's not removed from my charge I will dispute the charge. Have called the Credit Card Co and told them all about this "wonderful" company. The next time I order a lens from anyone I'll be sure to search out any complaints from the company. I would steer away from these people."
"Shady! They make you call to "confirm" your order where they attempt to upsell you camera batteries, memory, extended warranty etc. "Which would you like, the 5 year or the 3 year extended warranty?" Be sure to check your credit card statement and make sure they didn't overcharge you. They are evil."
"Top choice digital was offering refurbished optima HD 65 projectors at a price that was about half of what Best Buy was offering for new devices. I've had a lot of experience buying online including purchasing automobiles and other open box or refurbished items and despite the concern about customer service I felt I was going in with both eyes open. Received the projector on December 15 but because of the shipping policies was unable to pick it up from the UPS office. I finally received the projector on 17 December and indeed, it did have a crack in the case. However the projector works perfectly and all components are in fine working order. The requirement to call and confirm the order allows them to upsell. This got pretty ridiculous when the salesman insisted that it only shipped with a 50 hour bulb! Using the skipping record approach I simply got the unit as described in the ad and paid the additional $50 for insurance. This is as described in the fine print. Also be sure to read your return policy. Last night we watched two movies and enjoyed the unit. It appears to be working fine but I would buy from top choice digital again only for exceptional deal with no alternative. Their business practices are not geared to the naïve or timid but for the best prices I couldn't find anybody else who offered a similar deal. I would still be hesitant to buy from them again given the amount of time I had to spend on the phone and attempting to get delivery. "
"Don't buy from them!!! A complete scam! The price listed is NOT the price you will pay. They advertise free shipping but charge you at least $40 for insurance! When I questioned the guy about paying more than they advertised he told me that paying additional for insurance was "standard" and tried to make me feel stupid for even asking. Then he kept on trying to upsell me - my order was supposed to be $299 shipped...then it went to $389...and then because I was a valuable customer he was going to let me have another package for $419...what happened to $299. DON'T BUY FROM THEM."
"Do NOT buy from this company. Every negative review is accurate. Every time I tried to call this company the wait was over 1/2 hour long. They offer free shipping, but neglect to add to your order total page, the "mandatory" handling and insurance. The customer service is so rude, I could not imagine ever having to deal with them again. I am also calling the consumer affairs division for the State of NY for their deceptive practices."
"I should have checked before I bought. They called me back to "verify" my order and pitch overpriced worthless junk. I wouldn't buy, they cancelled my order...."

"BUYER BEWARE! - Another NYC camera shop that requires you to call in to "verify" your order so they can "up-sell" you things you don't need. I ordered a Navigon 7200T with 3 day shipping. The unit was $249.99 on the site and shipping was supposed to be $14.99. The total should have been $264.98, but they tacked on a $24.99 handling fee. Then they tried to sell me a car mount and told me the unit came with 06-07 map software and that it would be $89 dollars to upgrade through "Garmin." (Remember I ordered a Navigon product not a Garmin.) The rep started out at $49 for the upgrade saying the software on the unit was out of date and that I "needed" this upgrade. After declining multiple times, the final offer was $29. I declined again. He ended the call with verifying the total on the order as $289.97. As I they do not send an email with your order details I had no way of verifying that was the correct total. So I agreed and hung up the phone. The total seemed high so I went back to the site, did the math, called them back and canceled my order. "
"I had an absolutely positive experience, and would highly recommend this seller. I was a bit skeptical when I was informed that I needed to phone in, after submitting my order on-line. However, when I phoned in, Anthony verified my shipping address, asked me if I had any questions regarding the camera I had purchased, and assured me the order would be shipped shortly. I received the camera within two days from the date of the shipping address verification phone call."
