"I found their website after I googled for the best price on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera (Body only). Nextag gave me some results where Thunder Cameras price was to good to be true. This was a few days before I actualy ordered. I did some reading and could not find a real reason why I shouldn't order. From here on the story goes like you can read in all the previous reviews. They called me and left a message on my machine. It was about my order and before they made it active they wanted to talk to me. The next day I called them. "Sir, the camera you order is a grey product". "The manual is in Japanese". "It comes without a battery and a charger". And now the most important statement. "THE BODY IS NOT ALUMINIUM". And on top of that "You do not have waranty on it". So, ok, if I add this battery and charger.... The result, I ordered an US model. Same price as elswere, he was friendly, so I gave them the chance to "garentee my satisfaction". I called from work. After I came home and I looked at the mail they've send me I suddenly realized I was buying a this camera for a lot more then I agreed. Fast shipment was charged at a rate of $188 + $37. Wow, no way, I called them back and told them I wanted to cancel the order. Again happend what you can read in all reviews. They threatning with cancelation charges of 6%. When I told him I did not care he made me a proposel. "What if i trow in the battery and the high speed charger for the price of 2499 shipping included but with the normal shipping not the expedited.It looked a good deal to me so I agreed. After a few days I went to my account and noticed that the camera was not shipped. I called and they told me that because of the change in charging my credit card it bounced and the had to redo it. But, we will ship it today or the next morning. A few days went by. Still no tracking on my account so I called them again. Well Sir, it is shipped this morning. I asked for a tracking number which they gave me. He also told me that it would not show bfore midnight because thats the time they update it. He also told me that the estimated delivery would be February 23. I've tried the tracking number they gave me meny times. It was not recognized and gave no result. So, I called them again. This time the guy told me that the shipping department was closed but he would shoot them an e-mail and ask them to send me the tracking information. Again a few days went by. No tracking... This morning, February 25 I wrote them an e-mail and told them I wanted to cancel my order and that my next step would be that I would file a dispute at the bank. I went out for a while and hoped thet when I came back there would be a response and maybe magical a tracking number would pop up. Nope, nothing, nada. I went to the bank. The lady got somebody on the phone and then something wonderfull happend. The lady of the bank started a conference call with them. Again they did (and this time recorder)what they allways do. "Let me contact the shipping department, a moment please. I'm sorry they allready left so I can't provide you a tracking number. But, it will be delivered on March 1" ????? Duhhh, How could he now that? He had no tracking number and the shipping department was closed. Then I told him that I was flying to Europe that day. He asked me what time the flight was because he would make sure that UPS would deliver before noon.I wonder, how can you speed up a delivery that is shippend (according to them) 12 days ago?Liars....I started a dispute. And a bet you, if the package arrives I can check when it was shipped. Sad but true. I'm on vacation in Europe without my new Canon Eos 5D. :-( "
"I Purchased a camera from Thunder camera on 1/27/11. I decided 20 minutes later to call back and cancel due to personal problems at home. They told me that there would be a cancelation fee. My response was to say that I just placed the order 20 minutes age and it hadn't shipped yet. At this point the man began to upset me with trying to stall by saying that he would keep the order open til I find something there that was cheaper. I demanded a refund back to my Master Card. He replyed, are you threatening me, he said. I replied no, I simply want my refund. As of 2/21/11 I am still waiting for a refund! All my bank can do is file a dispute. Please don't purchase from them. For further info plz write"
"I also purchased a camcorder from Thundercameras.com on 1/31/11 for $339.00 they debit my card for $576.93. I placed the order 1/31/11 for priority 2-day shipment. I called on 2/3/11 which was 2-business days to find out my tracking number since it wasn't on their website. They couldn't produce a tracking number but they said they would call UPS without a tracking number to re-call the camcorder. With this information I new it was a scam. I have tried several time to talk to someone at the customer service line, all I got was a lot of people talking like they were thugs. I then notifed my card holder, and I sent a letter to Attorney General, Eric T. Schneiderman, State of New York, Office of the Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Fraud and Proection. If the Attorney General gets more of these fraud claim forms filled-out they will then prosecute Thundercameras.com.So please take a little time to download their fraud claim form and return it.This place needs to be shut down."
"DO NOT BUY! SCAM! This is the absolute worst/nightmare of a transaction I have ever had in my life. Please do yourself a favor and do not even call them. I ordered a D700 USA camera from them, and they sent me a grey market camera. They wouldn't provide me with a shipping number when I called them 15 days after the transaction because it was not sent out. Then all of the sudden, there's a rush delivery to my door of the camera. Imagine that. But to my surprise, the camera was grey market, when I paid MORE for a USA brand. Trying to return is a nightmare. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE customer service. Do not buy. I had to go through my CC company to refute the charges. After many go arounds with ThunderCamera (which was the biggest customer service nightmare ever) they agreed to refund me the whole price less the shipping that I incurred for shipping the camera back. I returned the camera and a month later, I get a $348 dollar charge on my credit card for a restocking fee! A restocking fee for the WRONG camera. I will be happy to talk with anyone about the service. You may contact me at email@example.com. This is truly a horrendous outfit.If I could give less scores, negative stars, I would. I am also filing a complaint form with the Attorney General of NY against them. They have to be shut down."
"This online store is SCAM WATCH OUT they advertise low FALSE prices when you do search they come out they sell you Faked and COUNTER-FIT item which you did not order or want ,they make their money from restocking fee.BING search engine should attach the review with their name customer will be aware before they fall into this SCAM "
"This is the truth. I bought a Canon 5D Mark 11 from these guys. I also bought a Canon Lens. I insisted the camera be USA model. They assured me it was. If your going to order from them you must specify and have it on your invoice that Camera is a USA model and will have a warranty card included. You must request it shows up on your invoice that if USA warranty card is not in box they will return it without any charges (restocking, Insurance). Do not give them your credit card info till you get a invoice stating product is USA and will have a warranty card. What happens is they buy the product overseas and then remove the warranty card because it is in a different language. Canon has the option to not accept the warranty work if it is needed. Thunder is also not a verified seller of any canon product or reseller. Canon can also dely warranty work because Thunder is not authorized dealer. I would tell anyone buying from Thunder Camera to go to ligitimate dealer like BHphoto or authorized dealer. You may pay more but you will be able to sleep at night. They also attempt to sell you on Sigma lens which is far inferior to the Canon lens. They claim it is a new lens and when I called Sigma they said there is no such lens and Thunder has been an issue for them, meaning telling lies. Please call Sigma yourself to see. The lure of saving money is quite tempting but after my experience stay away. You will get Andrew/Andy claim to different people but the same. These are not good guys. They are fantastic salesmen and will act like they got your best interest at heart. Once they get your credit card and order watch out. Once again I'm trying to help people not get screwed by these guys. When buying any Canon product make sure you get written in writing on invoice that product is USA model and will have USA (english) warranty card. Also make sure they say you will get a full refund if does not come with USA warranty card. That is they key. They say you will have to pay insurance and restocking so make sure you get in writing that will be waived if does not come with USA (english )warranty card. Once again go to BHPHOTO, Adorama, Abes of Maine, or just go to Canon website for authorized dealers. We all spend a lot of money and want to make sure were covered. I'm still fighting with Thunder through my credit card company. Trust me when you say you want on invoice will have english language warranty card and want invoice to state full 100% refund they will not sell you anything. I also was suppose to get Lexar 16gb cards and they sent me some junk cards but got a partial refund because had in my invoice must be Lexar. "
"Thunder Camera is a “Bait and Switch” Scam site! Why are online retailers like these people allowed to continue business in such a deceiving and unethical manner? Isn’t there some kind of legal action we can take? Or do they continue to prey on honest consumers? I wish I had checked this site out before I placed my order with THUNDER CAMERA! It looks like many have fallen prey to the same scam that I have. Let me explain my experience. I ordered a Nikon lens for my Nikon D3100, from their web site; Nikon Zoom Telephoto AF Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S VR Autofocus Lens at $209. Moments later I was called by their sales department telling me I needed additional information in order to complete the order. The sales rep. then began to explain to me that the lens I had ordered was not a digital lens and would not work on my camera. He then described a "Sigma" lens to me and said it was a limited time offer on this new lens from Sigma, a professional Edition lens or (PE) as he stated and it was only a few more dollars... $279 to be exact. After much debate and hesitation, and a promise by him there would be no trouble in returning it if I wasn't completely happy, I ordered it. Upon receiving it, there was no indication that it was a professional edition, either in the description or the documentation. The lens they sent me by the way: 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro (Motorized) SIGMA’s price:$220.00 MSRP! A lens you can find anywhere on the net for $158!!! I tried calling back to reinstate my original order for the Nikon lens, and again was told very sternly that that lens would not work on my camera and that “was” a professional edition lens! I then visited 2 local camera shops and was told by both that if that the Nikon lens I wanted, if it was in fact the one described on their web page, would work. I also called Sigma, and they DO NOT make a "Professional Edition" lens! SO...Here I am stuck with a lens, that, by all the web sites say is a real good lens for the “money”, yeah, $158! It’s a good lens for $158, NOT $279!!! I didn't even want to give them 1 Star! DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THUNDER CAMERA! "
"Without including all of the e-mails to ThunderCameras and Sigma, I will give a short description of my encounters.1) I selected the Canon 5D Mark II and two Canon lenses.2) They talked me out of the Canon lenses and said they had Sigma 'Professional Edition' lenses.3) Two days later I still have not received a confirmation e-mail.4) I then called and they sent an e-mail. It only had what looked like a typed in description with prices, no actual invoice, no invoice number, only an order number.5) Searching for the Sigma PE lenses, none could be found.6) I then sent an e-mail to Sigma, the next day Sigma responded, the 'Professional Edition' does not exist and Sigma suggested if I already purchased the lenses I should get a refund. That's what Sigma suggested.Sigma said the DG series lenses cost between $100 - $200, ThunderCameras prices are $599.99!7) When I e-mailed ThunderCameras asking they cancel the order I received a very rude e-mail saying I don't know what I'm talking about.DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!They sold fallacious items across state lines. Can you say Fraud?I am in the process of contacting Google, NexTag, SortPrice, the NY State Atty General, and the FTC."
"I would not recomend buying from them. I have tried 3 different times to order a camera from them and every time I get an email saying I need to call for verification so I do, then after telleing me I'll get an email with the tracking number when it ships which will be 1-2 days I get an email saying the camera is back orders and won't be in for 1-2 weeks and to reply if I want to cancell. The customer support is rude and they hang up on you if you start asking questions. I even asked if it was in stock because this happened twice already and they said yes then suddenly it's back ordered. This is a very poor way to run a business and after reading a bunch of other reviews it seems most people have the same problems buying from them. "
"I ordered a US Brand (serial # starts with a 3) Nikon d7000 body along with 2 lenses, the Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX VR Autofocus type US box 5 year warranty & Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Auto Focus Type US White Box from Thunder Camera's 12/30/2010 my salesman was Steve. I've been using my son's D90 & fell in love with the camera. After looking for the best prices on the web for D90, I came across numerous rave reviews for the D7000, the D90 replacement. After reading everything I could on the d7000 my mind was set on purchasing this new D90 replacement, of course at the cheapest price possible. That is how I stumbled on the Thundercamera website with a price of 679.99 for the body I thought this was too good to be true...but ordered it anyway, along with the 2 lenses I wanted. 2 days after I ordered the camera I got a call from thundercameras...Oh boy I thought here comes the bait & switch from the salesman. Now just to let everyone know I researched the 5 cheapest priced sites on the web for everything I wanted. "My name is Steve from Thundercamera" he said "do you know why the price for the d7000 was that cheap" (of course I figured it was a bait price) Steve explained that it was a grey market brand D7000 that carries no warranty in the US. He continued to say that thundercameras new US boxed body price was 1199.99. I told Steve I would cancel my order because Newegg had a 72 hr sale with 100.00 off the US D7000 price of 1199.99.(of course New egg was out of stock) Steve said "I want your business & I'll match or better any price on the web that I can confirm that you have found!" Well people he matched the New Egg price of 1099.99 & the cheapest price on both lenses I wanted.(they are not grey market) Along with a camera bag, lens cleaning kit, full size & table top tripod, 5 year CPS warranty (I've read the reviews on CPS being a fraudulent extended warranty provider but I'll take my chances) a portable memory card reader & a Digital Camera accessory Kit. Now I really don't care about all the extra stuff he gave me, all I cared about is price! I got all this for 2,100.00 delivered to my door. Now don't think I wasn't worried after reading all the horror stories on thunder cameras this week. Well my package arrived today 1/17/11 & after going thru everything making sure it is exactly what I ordered...I can say Thunder cameras gave me the cheapest price on a very hard to find item. Yes they did up sell me on the camera body... but I still got the cheapest price on the Nikon D7000 & the 2 lenses I wanted. Steve from Thunder camera is a excellent salesmen, & worked with me to get the price I was looking for. Thundercamera you have a satisfied customer. "Sadly, I should have web searched for these postings before ordering. Do not order from this company. I ordered a Nikon camera - first they don't warn of grey market cameras, you need to explicitly ask. The customer service of this company indeed are astoundingly poor and yes, I too believe this is a scam shop. I was charged 1899.98 for my order, but here it is over a week later and I don' t have order status or any UPS information if indeed the order has shipped (as they indicate). When contacting customer service teh rep quickly got belligerent and abusive with me, and when I requested to either be provided ups tracking information, or to have ordered cancelled, the representative hung up on me. I've initiated dispute of the charge with Visa, but truly - save yourself time and energy and spend your money with a company that cares and has a reputation to uphold. Do NOT order from this company."
"Wow.... Words can't really explain how BAD this company is. My dealing with Thunder Cameras seems to be like many of these reviews.1. Place an order on an advertised Camera.2. One of their sales reps call to for security reasons( they say) but they try to sell you something else. In my case they said " Why do you want that, it's an Import, everything is in a different language. We can sell you a USA camera for double"3. If you pass on their bump, you probably get an email letting you know that your order is back ordered and it will take 1 to 2 weeks. Of course you won't see anything arrive at your house.4. If you call to follow up on your order, they will try and sell you something else, get rude, try to get you to cancel your order, hang up on you and so forth.In my case when I got to step 4, the rep put another rep on ( the big guns) to rough me up. I told him that all I wanted was the camera that I ordered that you have advertised and still taking orders on weeks later. I told him that I was going to the Federal Trade Commission, NY Attorney General, BBB and any other consumer group I can find. I was told that he didn't have to sell me anything and he was going to find who I was through my phone number and cancel my order. I told him that I didn't want it canceled........ He hung up on me.I guess it's true that he didn't have to sell me anything.... BUT it's also true that us consumers didn't have to take his dishonest crap. What can we do in addition to the above commissions and offices to stop this internet disgrace? "
"Well how do I start. BEWARE!! To make this short since I have repeated this several times. They are set up as a bait and switch group; Offer a lose leader that you will never get but will charge your card. They will attempt any excuse to get you to change product at a 50% higher price than anywere else. They use a fear tatic. Telling you Sigma is Cannon owed and are the same co. Bullsh**Or your wrong with the product you want. I fell for it and then called immediately back to cancel. In the mean time I got an email stating that this product was non refundable and would be charges shipping, restocking, and 20% of value. Once they new what I was doing they stated I had to speak to customer service and they could not help me and cust service not in until 2pm est. Then i called immediately back and they blocked my number. I switched phones and was now told cust srv. not in until 4pm est. This went on and on to the degree I had to block my phone number to even get them to pick up. They wouldn't respond by email was told had to speak to someone. I cancelled card but bank has to allow it to process to file claim. I sent continious email t document my actions and told them that I was fighting this and will not accept. They stated they were pulling order but would not provide conf#. my last email they responded stating they had to wait for ups to bring package back and that in a generic email had a paragraph on telling me to reverse bank claim in order for them to credit account. What company has a standard response like that!!! I will see how much future effor this will take... Stay Away from this group and as the other consumer below stated thay own more than one internet sales company...."
"I wish I would have read all these reviews before I placed an order with this company. I just placed an order online today so have not had any phone contact with these people, so before that could happen, I contacted my credit card company to alert them about this company and their scams, and fraudulent dealings. My card company has attached a fraud alert to my card with this company's name and all the names associated with this company so I will not be held liable for any charges for them should they try to send any through. Since I did not give my security number from my card to them, it will indeed be fraud if they try to charge anything to my card.I will be taking a copy of the email of cancellation that I sent to ThunderCamera, along with the email comfimation of my phone call to my card company to my attorney tomorrow.Hope this will help anyone else, if you're thinking about or have recently ordered something from this company.Crappy that we as consumers have to go to this extent to protect ourselves from people like this, but "buyer beware" I guess."
