"Ordered something before Christmas. Was not expecting it before the 25th but its now the 4th of Jan and still the same posting on teh web site on order status. Two calls to customer service yielded two different answers with ETA for yet another week. Agents act like its my fault for ordering when the lead times were stated as 7-10 days out on standard orders. Worst of the online experiences this season. Stay away!"

"I purchased a $339.00 BioVault 2.0 Gun Safe from Sportsauthority.com. A few days later a $59.00 pogo stick showed up at my house. The packing slip said it was the BioVault but they sent a pogo stick! When I called them they said it would take 3 to 5 days to issue a call tag to pick up the pogo stick and they would credit my account when they recieved it. I asked if they could just send the correct item to me, I don't need a refund. They said they could not, I'd have to reorder. I asked if they could next day it at their expense since this was their fault. After checking with a supervisor they said they could except it was no longer in stock. Their online operation is just like their retail stores, very messed up. I would never buy from them again and strongly recommend theat you don't either."

"Stay away from this company, and beware, they partner with sportmart and other retailers for online ordering. Bought a bumper pool table for Christmas, showed up without hardward to put it together - imagine my surprise on Christmas eve. Tried to get parts sent over a 3 week period, they never sent the parts, now in process of returning the product, we'll see how it goes - bad, bad business."

"I purchased a Phoenix multipurpose lifting bench from Sports Authority on Dec. 15th, of 2006. The shipping and all went fine, but when received came the trouble from then on. The box was mangled, and it looked to be opened before and duct taped over again. I proceeded to assembling the bench, and to my dismay it did not work. Some of the holes were not drilled completely through, and I called customer service right away reporting that it was DEFECTIVE. It took them a 2-3 weeks to send me a simple email RMA. I feel this is completely unacceptable. Well, I ship the DEFECTIVE product back to them, they receive it ... and provide a refund. Here's another problem that I run into. They only refunded 69.49... SHORT OF MY 19.07. I should have got every single dollar back. It was defective, and Sports Authority had to take responsibility. They listed as "refund requested", while is a total lie because I told customer service I wanted a exchange, but they could not offer, but they can offer a full refund! This is outrageous leaving out my 19.07. I will never shop at Sports Authority again because it's a total waste of time, and waste of money!"

"I placed an order for an NBA jersey on December 5 and they told me it would arrive on or before December 15. I was given a UPS-MI tracking number and a few confirmation emails. December 15 came and still no package. I had to fly out of town this whole week so when I came home today December 22, I was expecting to find the package at my door. Nothing. I called UPS-MI and they said there was no record of the tracking number Sports Authority gave me, so they advised me to call them for a new tracking number. When I called Sports Authority they told me the package was never sent out!!! They said they were going to refund my credit card but now I have no Christmas present for my dad!!! What a joke. This company should not be in business if they can't even ship out an order. Now I have to go buy him another gift somewhere else with only 2 days left."

"Terrible Experience. I was trying to purchase Razor 200 & 300 scooters for XMas. Online, the items said that they were in stock. Fortunately, I kept checking back and they did not ship. There was some meaningless comment on the status which was not in their on section explaining the status comments. I called and asked for the entire order to be canceled. They canceled the scooter, but not the extended warrentee. This came to my house. It was a single xeroxed piece of paper. I was charged for the warrentee. Now, they want me to ship this back to them before I can get credit. They gave me the mailing label since it was their mistake, but.. this is stupid to ask me to ship a xeroxed page back to them. The only reason for doing this is some percentage of people will not do it and they make 18 for a piece of paper. Not shopping here again. "

"I just ordered a $50 gift card for my nephew for Christmas. The Sports Authority sent it in an envelope. When I got it it was totally destroyed and taped up. I called their customer service number and spoke to Ashley....she was useless. Then I spoke to, apparently, the highest manager I can speak to...Brent. I was told "sorry, there is nothing I can do....nada....nothing. So now I am out $51 (yes, they have nerve to charge $1 for shipping). Also, since it was opened when I got it there is no way of me knowing if it was used. Awful company to deal with!! "

"First check the BBB. They give the TheSportsAuthority a big fat "F". (hard to get a worse rating than that).

My "experience":

I have a nephew that plays football. He was having trouble "breaking" chin straps during the games. In his upcoming game on Oct 6th, I decided to drop ship him a few different styles of chin straps, hopefully to help him finish the game with a chin strap in tact. Went to www.TheSportsAuthority.com and placed an order to ship out FexEx 2 day air. Selected to ship it to a different address. The defective web site did not have a place to enter an alternate address after selecting a to ship it to a different place. I logically selected "Next" hoping it was simply on the screen. The next screen said "Order complete!". I called support, they were closed. I placed shipping instructions on the order that explicitly requested that it either be shipped to the alternate address (which I supplied) or cancel it. Turns out they don't care to read or chose to ignore it and shipped it directly to me. Decided to make a little more on me and shipped it 3 day ground instead of the 2-day air which I had paid for. Sent e-mail inquiring why this happened or to at least fix it before someone else gets burned by their defective web site, but no one ever answered. Terrible service and as you can see my the shipping scam, a crooked business."

"I bought a sports authority brand bike 3 weeks ago which, after having been put together, grinds with every rotation of the pedals. The manual says not to return it but to call their number...good, I wasn't going to return it anyway...they can come get it.

I called them up, the kid said he would have their delivery company in the area call me to schedule pickup. I heard nothing for two weeks.

I sent an email...I got no response for a week.

I called again, they gave me the same line, that someone would contact me within 24 hours. Yeah...right.

It's been more than 3 weeks...I still have this paperweight sitting in my apartment.

If you must buy at sports authority, don't buy the sports authority brand! They sell absolute crap...they don't care if they have a 20, 30, 40% return rate...they're still making money...and they apparently don't even refund your money if you have a problem.

The bike only had a 90 day warranty to begin with...and they wanted to sell me a 2 year warranty for $75 on a $300 bike.

THE SPORTS AUTHORITY BRAND IS ONE HUNDRED PERCENT CRAP. DO NOT BUY!"

"I would NEVER ORDER from SPORTS AUTHORITY or any company associated with them again, and would advise others to think twice about ever giving them any business. I recently ordered a Golden Eye Monocular from the Sports Authority website. I had to do some searching to find it in stock anywhere, and when I found it listed as in stock on their site I called to verify that they actually had the item, and that we were talking about the "Golden" Eye, not the "Silver" Eye that a couple of other sites had tried to pass off as Golden Eye. I was assured that it was the Golden Eye and that they had quite a few in stock. Also on most other sites the price for the Silver Eye was much less than the Golden Eye, but Sports Authority was asking the same higher price as the Golden Eye. Upon delivery I found that they had sent the Silver Eye instead at their inflated price. I called and was informed that they had no like for like replacement policy and that I had to send it back and reorder the Golden Eye. As this was a gift and time was a problem, I simply gave the Silver Eye as the gift. I am extremely disappointed in not only having been sent the wrong item at an inflated price (bait and switch?), but also at their refusal to conveniently rectify their mistake."

"Their customer representative sucks. There was a problem with my shipment so it was returned back to them. I called and the customer represenative said that he will re-order it and send me another one. I waited and did not arrive so I called the second time. The representative told me that I can order it and have it price match since I got it with the promo. I did what she told me. I called again after I placed the order and the third representative told me that it is not possible to price match."
