"Do not do buy anything from Softwareoutlet. Like virtually all the others, my card was immediately charged, the software was not delivered after two months, other than the initial order confirmation and backorder email the following day, no further emails or communication from Softwareoutlet. On their wild goose chase phone system, Softwareoutlet never provided the promised status email in 24 hours after I left my name and order number, several times. I've taken steps to dispute the charge with my credit card issuer.
Update - I was able to recover my money by contacting my bank to dispute the charges. I provided a chronological record of emails and my phone calls to SoftwareOutlet as well as printouts of comments from resellerratings.com.
My card was credited the day after the bank received this information."

"I ordered various educational software games for my son for Christmas 2006. Three out of five actually worked. Since then, I have tried to contact softwareoutlet.com via email, voicemail, fax and their bogus 'live chat' that always seems 'closed.' No one returns calls or emails. Thank goodness I didn't spend too much money on the software. Save your time and money and dodge the software outlet."

"Ordered MS office on Jan 8th and credit card was charged within 2 days. Received email stating product was on backorder but would be shipped within 2 days. Have not received product and many attempts to contact company via phone and email have failed to get any repley. I would recommed staying away from this company unless you like donating your money. Companies like this give internet sales a bad name; it will be a long while before I buy over the internet again. "
"I unwisely made an order from Softwareoutlet.com via Shop.com. My credit card was charged but the software that I ordered never shipped. I sent 12 e-mails, left 14 voicemails, and was hung up on once with no information on what had happened to my order. Even the customer service personnel at Shop.com stated that they have had “numerous problems” with softwareoutlet.com. I am surprised that a store like this even exists. Don’t buy, it is not worth your time. If shop.com was smart, they would stop representing this company before they get pulled into a lawsuit over this scam."
"CC charged immediately at time of order 12/31/06. Back-order e-mail received 4 days later. No correspondance since then despite numerous calls and e-mails. Still no product delivered as of today. Contacted the LA Better Business Bureau and filed a formal complaint. I would encourage others to do the same if they have had the same problems."

"Illegal Software seller! I purchased MS Win XP Pro operating system from them. Now I am getting error messages that the product key is invalid and the software is not genuine every time I boot the computer. Through communication with Microsoft they cannot validate the key and have told me that I have to resolve this with Software Outlet, or purchase a valid license. Despite numerous e-mails, phone calls (they don't even answer their phone during business hours))and voicemail messages, no one will respond to my problem. A complete rip-off as I now have to purchase the legal version somewhere else. Stay away from this seller, they are bad news."

"Charged my CC immediately - but no product shipped. Totally unresponsive, and failed to meet any of their stated shipping / tracking policies. They don't answer phones or emails. I've disputed the charges with my CC company. Stay away from SoftwareOutlet!!"
"This vendor was sketchy every step of the way on an order eventually cancelled. Charge card was billed immediately despite hold on shipment due to one "backordered" item. This item was described as due in "two days," then "a few days," then "by the end of next week." Emails were ignored. Phone call went to circular menu system, with long wait listening to music that sounded like a muffled cell phone ring track. When call was finally answered, it became apparent that all call menu selections probably go to the same desk. Request to cancel order for only the "backordered" item was processed into cancellation of entire order. This experience drove me to purchase retail rather than OEM. Oh well, at least they refunded the charge."
"Placed an order- got no confirmation email - shortly after *I* sent an email - got one - stating the item was temporarily out of stock and to call if I wanted to change my order blah blah - same story w/the phones - no way to reach anyone - they are just never there. My credit card has been charged though - and I seriously doubt that I will see the products I ordered.
Now the website is down - talk about smelling fishy - Scammers like this really should be stopped - although I have no idea how - it's sad - STAY AWAY FROM THEM - I really wish I had been smarter and looked them up on this site BEFORE I placed the order - I didn't think a thing of it until I got the backordered email and saw the my card was charged. STAY AWAY - THESE FOLKS ARE SCAMMERS."
