"My favorite online retailer and I buy almost everything online. They don't have everything and they don't have what they do have all the time, but the products I have bought from them have been of consistently high quality and prices were excellent. Fleece jackets for $11.21, Hanes 3xl pocket tShirts for $2.89. I pay more than that for used Tees at the thrift store. A great place to buy camping gear, luggage, shoes, knives, bedding, and a wide variety of other products. Yes, you can find cheaper items on the web, but most of them are nowhere near the quality of STP's stock. I am also a frequent buyer from Amazon and eBay where prices are also consistently competitive, but quality can vary Wildly. When researching a new purchase I always check Sierra Trading Post first. For the best deals, get on their mailing list and watch for sales and promotions. You can also scan new items and clearance items. For clothing items and shoes, you can scan by applicable size only, saving a good deal of time when viewing deals."
"I love Sierra Trading Post. They have name brand products (both outdoor products and others) for really good prices. They also often have a great deal running if you search for keycodes online.
In response to others' complaints about "bait and switch" tactics, it is true that generally you can only get one discount per order. So, search around and find the one that saves you the most money and use it. I find this is a common practice among retailers; just because you get an email offering a discount of 20% doesn't mean that you can use this discount on top of other discounts. Don't be greedy, people!
I'd also like to mention that I've had to return a few items over the years and customer service is always so helpful. For example, a while back I ordered a pair of boots that stretched out after wearing them for a few months, such that they didn't fit anymore. I told this to Sierra Trading Post and sent back the boots, and they gave me a full refund. Wow.
The only downside is that shipping isn't particularly fast, and it's too bad they don't offer automatic free shipping over a certain order amount. Also, as with all online orders, sometimes the product doesn't work out and you have to pay to send it back, which is always a bummer. However, given how great my experiences have been, I'm happy to pay for shipping and wait a few days to get my order, and to pay for return shipping if it doesn't end up working out. Thanks STP!"
"I've been dealing with STP for many years and am very satisfied with them. As to the negatives you may have read in other review please note the following. Yes, if you have an email account you will get many ads touting sales of very limited duration. If you don't like them, then use your email program to block them. They can be confusing as to discount but read them carefully and compare as different sales will be ongoing at the same time. If you do happen to block them you'll be missing out on some seemingly unbelievable deals that are in fact legitimate. I've NEVER experienced anything like a "bait and switch" and doubt that scheme has ever actually be used by them. If you don't like their shipping charges you can go through one of their MANY (it's true) catalogues and find the riddle to get FREE shipping or get their no annual fee credit card which gets you free shipping on all purchases. Their phone customer service reps are always helpful. Yes, they do sell overstocks, closeouts and 2nds, but that is clearly stated. The quality of the merchandise is generally very good (possibly better) and you should be able to do a little surfing to find out info on most items and their cost elsewhere. Shipping is just about the best in the business. I've returned some items I thought were inferior or found not to fit and never experienced any problem and I don't recall seeing any ad for free return shipping. In my many years of dealing with STP I've never experienced any unethical dealings. This is an excellent merchant which I highly recommend. I am a shill for no one!"
"This is the best outdoor company out there! Sign up for their deal flyers and enjoy your shopping. The customer service is really awesome, so friendly and service minded. And no, I´m not working there or anything, I´m just a super happy customer who saves 1000´s of dollar shopping there!"
"I'm in Australia so returns are not an option due to shipping costs. I've stopped buying from Sierra Trading Post because several of my recent orders were very unsatisfactory, for example New Balance running shoes that both my wife and I found so uncomfortable we could not walk more than 50 yards in them, and male underwear with leg openings so narrow I could not get my legs through them. Both of these items are, in my opinion, remaindered stock from brick-n-mortar stores that were sold on at a steep discount to Sierra for onselling to unsuspecting online buyers. The shoes actually have store stickers on them that indicate that the shoes were remaindered. So if you live in the USA and returning goods is not expensive, maybe you will find a bargain or two, but if you live outside the USA, it's just not good value for money. Too many products are obviously flawed in design, which is how Sierra got them in the first place. I also take issue with the veracity of their reviews. For instance, the underwear with super-narrow leg openings had hundreds of positive reviews, and only a few that told the truth about the narrow legs. These underpants were so clearly flawed that I cannot believe that many men would find them satisfactory. So disregard the positive reviews, and look carefully at the negative ones, which are likely the only ones written by actual customers."
"I ordered watches, STP to send me really long time used SECOND HAND timepiece FOR 378$!!??This happened the first time by purchasing online,I could not believe .Before that I did a lot of orders from the SierraTP had no problems, good service.I hope Sierratradingpost will respond to my comment."

"BEWARE OF SNEAKY BAIT AND SWITCH PRICING TACTICS.
It works like this: When you go to the site from their email flyer promising, for example, 30% click through savings, that discount is often NOT automatically given on your order at checkout. The unsuspecting order anyway, thinking they got the discount.
The ones who see the deception can sometimes force the discount by use of a keycode, sometimes not. Often when you work around the issue and get the discount to appear on the order, the next checkout click results in your shopping cart turning up empty. No way to purchase unless you start all over at the beginning.
All of this happened one to many times to me so I now boycott STP. Too bad, too because I've purchased thousands of dollars of stuff there over the years. I just can't put up with the dishonesty any longer.
Then, to top it off, these hypocrites quote scripture on their site as they try to pull off the bait and switch.
Finally, if you think the glowing reviews here are not written by STP shills, you deserve to be fleeced by them."
"I have order from this company for several years and have NEVER had an issue...items always arrive quickly and are easily returnable if there is a problem"
"RIP OFF!!! Sierra uses bait and switch tactics. They send you a 20% off coupon when you order with them when your purchase arrives.......they claim this is to REWARD YOU for being a loyal customer.......the coupon is good for an additional 20% off any order over $$75.00.........but when you try to use the coupon with ANY daily discount offer they are running......they say YOU CANNOT USE THE COUPON with any other special. This tactic is to clearly get you to shop online at their store thinking you are actually getting something valuable from them.......only to be told, "sorry, just kidding"........
another complaint.......those individuals who do not want to be spammed by sierratradingpost with daily and sometimes twice daily "sales" flyers get RIPPED OFF EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY ORDER.......only if you allow them to SPAM your email account do they give you their "best" prices.......they actually have several different offers/specials going at any given time so MANY of their "best" customers get fleeced.........my neighbor could end up paying 25% more or 25% less than me for the same item........my neighbor could end up with free shipping and not me or vice versa.........THEIR SYSTEM IS SET TO GAME/STEAL FROM AS MANY TRUSTING CUSTOMERS AS POSSIBLE.......UNLESS YOU HAVE TIME TO LOCATE EVERY COUPON/SALE/FLYER THEY ARE OFFERING AT ANY GIVEN TIME YOU NEVER KNOW IF YOU ARE OVERPAYING MORE THAN OTHER CUSTOMERS..........YOU CANNOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE TO GIVE YOU THE BEST PRICES UPFRONT........THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE LIES TO YOU AND INTENTIONALLY MISLEADS YOU..........AND IF YOU ARE TOO DUMB TO KNOW THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE PAYING LESS, ITS JUST TOUGH BECAUSE THEY WILL NEVER REFUND YOU IF YOU DISCOVER AFTER THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE GOTTEN FLEECED BY THEM. I GOT SO DISGUSTED ONCE I LEARNED THE WAY THEY OPERATE THAT I BOXED EVERYTHING UP THAT I EVER PURCHASED FROM THEM AND SENT IT ALL BACK..........GOT STUCK WITH PAYING THE SHIPPING BUT I FEEL STRONGLY THAT I DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH UNETHICAL COMPANIES THAT HAPPILY CHEAT CUSTOMERS THAT TRUST THEM"
