Complaint Description - Posted 12/1/2010 10:44:42 AM

Ordered a motherboard and it never shipped even after 20 days. Complete waste of time dealing with this company. I finally had to order a motherboard from reputable vendor. It shipped in 3 days with no problem. I have read other reviews on this company and they pull the same kind of stalling with dozens of customers. Do not deal with this company again and warn others to steer clear of them at all costs. A complete waste of time.

Complaint Summary

Company charged my credit card, 27. but not confirmed the cancellation of my order or even if it was ever shipped at all.
Resolution Sought

Answer my emails or return my phone calls and REFUND MY CREDIT CARD!!!!! I will say it again very cleary. REFUND MY CREDIT CARD AND CANCEL THE ORDER. Too little too late to ship it now. The credit card will be disputed at this point.

Is this company really that dense? They have not answered my recent emails or refunded my credit card as I have asked.

Just to let you know this complaint will be sent to PC World, reviews.com, and other computer blogs based upon their actions in the next 24 hours.

Resolution Sought: A recap of my last complaint:

Consumer's Rebuttal - Posted 12/02/2010
Let me make myself very clear. I no longer want this order! I want my credit card refunded. Just refund my card! If the merchandise arrives, I will refuse it, because I no longer need it.

Company's last Response - Posted 12/05/2010
Customers order has been shipped as states on website.

I will state AGAIN!!!! REFUND MY CREDIT CARD CAN CANCEL THE ORDER! GOT IT??? DO NOT SHIP THE MOTHERBOARD.
Date Problem Started: 11/20/2010
Date of Transaction: 11/14/2010
Amount in Dispute: $127.52
Invoice Number: 9672
Complaint Type: Customer Service
Product or Service: What Service? Ignore Service. They are very good at that.

Are these crooks really that dense????

"Please beware if you choose to do business with this company. I will never purchase another item from this company. I ordered a rare motherboard. The part they shipped me was a different part number than the item I ordered. When I questioned the order, they argued with me that they shipped me exactly what I ordered. I had two engineers at my company verify the part. It was absolutely not what I ordered. After a long process of disagreeing, they finally issued an RMA so I could return the boards and get what I ordered. I returned the parts on 6/4/10 and never heard another word from them. They never sent the replacement parts they promised. Several requests for information and response on their support site, ref Order# 7775, have gone unanswered. I have tried for months to get a response.

Per their skeptical response, here is the order number: Order# 7775. Order total $748.65 The RMA number they gave me was: RMA PCP8013."

"This one horrible company I wish I never had to deal with. The motherboard that I ordered from them has never arrived. Because of them I have lost my customer, the sale, time, effort and I have yet to get my money back through my credit card dispute process. The customer "no service" was absolutely ridiculous. No-one answers their phone. Their "chat" system isn't working either. But even without helping their customers they could avoid most of their problems by being honest, but that's not the path they chose so hence the review! Give yourself a favor a choose another company to order from even if it costs a little more now, it will save you a LOT in future."

It has been over 3-5 business days and I still have not received my refund! You collected money from me for a product you do not have and kept the money for over 3 months!! I am not sure what kind of business you are running, but this is outrageous! I will have to take legal actions. If I do not receive the money by early next week, I will have to pursue legal actions and file a formal complaint to FTC. Please, respond ASAP!

"Well I to ordered a motherboard from these people and am very disapointed in their customer service.I has been over a month since I ordered the board and have recieved nothing but a run around. You call their # all you get is a automated message telling you to go to their website to check the order status. When you email them you get this (i'm sure it's also automated) message.

Well it's been a far cry from 5-8 Business days it's been 36 days to be exact and still no tracking # or board. I will give them 5 more days then I expect them to refund my money.I will be contacting my states Attny Generals office and the BBB and Visa to dispute this if not.Their customer service is less than desirable. All it takes is a little communication!

"Here goes...On 8/24/10 I ordered a motherboard from PC Planet Systems. All order confirmations were received in a timely manner. I received a tracking # in a timely manner. I received the motherboard in about 8 days. I had no complaints, that is until I opened the box that contained the motherboard. I did not even open the plastic that contained the mother board. I could see through the clear plastic that it wasnt the one I ordered. It was nothing like the motherboard I ordered. I contacted PC Planet Systems regarding this and I received a response that I did receive the motherboard that I ordered. I responded to the email with links to what I ordered and what I received. The 2 were obviously different. I then received a response with a link to request and RMA and ticket dispute page where I could post back and forth between PC Planet Systems and myself. I received an RMA # and was told to return item for an exchange. I requested a return label on 9/1/10 with no response. I requested it again on 9/2 with no response. And again on 9/3 with no response. On 9/7 I shipped the item via USPS priority with tacking and confirmation of delivery. PC Planet Systems received the return item on 9/9. I posted on the website that I would be billing them for the cost of return shipping. I finally received a response that I would be credited for the shipping charges. I have received no other responses from PC Planet Systems. I informed them that I did not want store credit if they did not have the motherboard that I ordered in stock. I want the motherboard that I ordered and that is all. As of today, I have had no responses. Now, they have my money and the motherboard. I have already filed a claim with my CC company. This is completely unprofessional and not a way to run a business.

This is an update to my post. I finally received a post, but only after I posted on the reseller site. This was there actual post,"We would appreciate the disrespectful non truth accussations you are making on the resellers site." According to their post, they like what I said about there business practices. Hilarious."

"Don't buy anything from this company. Ordered what was advertised as a new ASUS motherboard that was no longer being produced. It was important to get the same board, because of the functions this workstation performs. Waited 2.5 weeks for it to arrive and when it finally got here it was obviously a referb (after market solder points and dust bunnies that only accumulate in a working PC), which the website did not disclose. When we installed the board the fans would spin, but no post or beep codes. Tried board with known good processor, power supply, RAM, and hard drive with no success. Attempted to contact company for a RMA, but no one will respond to my request. I have just left the final message for them to return my call. It appears that they avoid answering your request until after 30 days then say it is the consumers fault for not following their policy. If I don't hear from them today I will have to dispute the charge on our credit card. Again I would not buy anything from this company and I wish I would have checked here before buying anything from them.

Updated 9/2/10: Sir or ma'am you are a liar! We have not received the instructions to return your defective product. We have continued to monitor your website using your tracking ID: and nothing has been updated. We have not received an email from your company since we opened the RMA on 8/20/10. Furthermore, OEM stands for Original Equipment manufacturer that does mean refurbished. I find it funny you or your company responds to these boards within 24 hours, but your customers hear nothing from you or your company when they have a complaint or issue. If you spent more time taking care of your customers you would not have to spend so much time justifying your company’s faults. Yes I will recover the funds and if you would like your defective misleading piece of garbage back send me a prepaid shipping label and I will be happy to send it back. In conclusion you claim to have many satisfied customers, but I am hard pressed to find anyone with something good to say about your company on this website or any other. "

"It appears my previous review was deleted.

In short, ads do not say if a product is in China or USA. My product was in China and took over 3 weeks to arrive. Actually I'm not sure if it ever arrived since I told them to cancel the order unless it could be shipped with a tracking number to me by July 30. I received no notification either way. I called Master Card to dispute the order Aug 3 and got a credit. The charge had been placed July 16. "

"My advice: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I was misled by the Better Business Bureau accreditation and B rating. On 12 Nov 10, ABC News and 20/20 reported Los Angeles BBB ratings are meaningless "pay-for-play," giving examples of fictitious companies obtaining high ratings. Mid-May 11, PCPS lost BBB accreditation when BBB revised PCPS rating to C.

You should read ALL recent reviews of PCPS before ordering from them. Websearch reveals many complaints indicating PCPS supplies used equipment to unwary customers expecting new OEM equipment, that after return of defective equipment PCPS routinely stalls for months, and that PCPS ignores customer contact inquiries into order status or responds only infrequently. Other issues: PCPS may not handle credit card information securely; also Google analytics also warned me repeatedly of malware on portions of PCPS website, but as of January 2011, webpages producing such warnings appear to have been removed from website.

Physical address. PCPS is registered as California business entity 200819810249 at 1051 Placid Dr Corona CA 92880, apparently private residence, to which PCPS asked me to return nonfunctional product; PCPS also holds Corona business license 641905 at Placid Dr address. Placid Dr address is zoned "R1-7.2," indicating single family residence, with home occupations allowed. Costa Mesa informed me in Jan 11 that address on BBB website (2973 Harbor Blvd Suite 379 Costa Mesa) is maildrop: it seems to be mailbox at UPS store. Address on PCPS website (229 Albert Pl Suite B Costa Mesa) seems incorrect: in Jan 11, Costa Mesa informed me PCPS held business license BL029934, only from March 07 to February 09 and only at Albert Pl. In Mar 11, my letter to Albert Pl was returned as undeliverable. In late Apr 11, PCPS removed Albert Pl address from webpages. PCPS also used Albert Pl address for domain registration, until early Apr 11, then hid company location behind proxy registration.

Ordered graphics card in late June 2010. Received prompt, courteous, and accurate reply to inquiry about order status two weeks after order. Graphics card arrived about 12 business days after order, slower than 5-8 business days suggested by website. Temporary power connectors differed from expectation (two 1x-molex-to-pcie rather than two 2x-molex-to-pcie). Graphics card stopped working after about one week. Requested and received RMA. Eleven days after UPS delivered graphics card to Corona, no response from company. Contacted them. Was told I could have store credit or replacement. Was further told product was discontinued and replacement would be slow. Elected store credit. Tried unsuccessfully for several days to use store credit without authorizing further charges to credit card. Finally submitted store credit order by email and was informed PCPS would process. PCPS website promised shipment within 24 hours (for ordered generic sleeving and firewire) or within at most few days (for ordered fans and Cat5e cable). But for about two weeks after order, heard nothing from PCPS. Contacted PCPS at several times regarding order status without immediate response. PCPS finally responded that it was attempting procurement. On 6 September, gave up and requested refund. Here is PCPS 7 September response to my refund request:

END_QUOTE

Update 10 Feb 11: On my attempt at 3rd party dispute resolution, company responds that I have had store credit all this time! But they still haven't fulfilled the store credit order I submitted five months ago

Update 23 Mar 11: I just posted my review of "PC Planet Systems, LLC" at Trustlink. In immediate response, PCPS posted my name and said "We also encourage any company planning to do business with this person to contact us for proper feedback before accepting or taking any order." Websearch suggests similar attempts to intimidate and embarrass other customers.

They have hundreds of dollars of my money; I've got almost nothing to show for it"

"Wow - I wish I would have read this page before shopping with them. I ordered a motherboard; a couple weeks later, they said it was out of stock, and had to be ordered from China - would take 5 - 8 business days to receive, then they would ship it to me. Today's date is 4-22-2010, and several complaints later; no motherboard. I even tried to call the number that showed up on my Credit Card Bill - say's that they are moving and won't be open till early July. Dishonest, and crooked they are. Not only should you complain to BBB, they should be reported to Federal Trade Commission - https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ "

"This company has poor customer service. I do not recommend them to anyone. I placed an order for a hard to get motherboard on 2-16-10. I received it about two weeks later. I finally was able to install it and test it and it was DOA. I opened a ticket online on 3-13-10 with the following comments: "I ordered a brand new MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939. I have been working to get the thing to POST with no success. Installed in the case and out of the case. With memory and without memory, reset CMOS and the board never sends POST messages at all and I am out of ideas. My invoice number is 76326.". I checked on it and there was no response at all for 5 days. On 3-18-10 I wrote on my own ticket "Is anyone going to contact me regarding this? It has been FIVE DAYS and no response.". They finally wrote back and the only thing they said is, and I quote: "We offer a 30 Day warranty of replacement or store credit, you have receieved your item in Feb and your warranty has expired. Best regards,RMA DEPT". They have no phone support and the "online support ticket" system is evidently monitored only every now and then. I was hoping for some technical support of some sort. I was willing to send it back and if they could prove it good in a case of their own I would buy the case and pay for shipping back. However, based on their response, they are not interested in anything but getting my money and not answering the phone and checking their "online support ticket" when they get around to it. I am very disappointed.

"This is a terrible company to deal with in regards to repairs. I requested a RMA on 2/10/2010 and no one has contacted me regarding returning the defective monitor for repair. This monitor did not work from the time we took it out of the box. There is no reason why it's taking so long to get a response on my RMA. I would not recommend buying from this company ever again. Very dissatified with there service or lack of service. "

"I recently attempted to purchase a retail version of an EVGA GTX 275 graphics card from pcplanetsystems.com. I was at first very pleased to find this product as it has become increasingly rare. The price for the card was a little bit high, but that was to be expected all things considered. I didn't think twice and ordered the product.
A couple of days later I got an email from someone at the company. They said that the card was discontinued and therefore would be an OEM model that they had special ordered for me from their own warehouse in China. Judging by other reviews I've read I see that this is a common line used by the company. I was shocked because no where on the website was there mention of an OEM product. The picture was even of a retail package etc.
I emailed them to cancel the order and I got an email back which said quite simply "no." I then proceeded to take a screen shot of the graphics card webpage and dispute the charge with my credit card company. I emailed pcplanetsystems.com again notifying them that I was lodging a dispute. They emailed me back saying that they would make an exception for me and refund my money less a 25% restocking fee (which comes out to about $75.00 of the original $300.00 charge).
Obviously I refused this rediculous offer as I had already spoken to my credit card company and have evidence in hand of fraudulent advertising. Today I went back to the website and what do you know... "All our products are Shipped in OEM PACKAGING (bare product) MEANT TO BE USED AS REPLACEMENT ONLY" has been added to the bottom of the page of the EVGA GTX 275 lol. So I took a screenshot of the "tampered" evidence and am going to include that with the original when I submit the paperwork to the credit card company.
All in all this company clearly has no idea what they are doing. They claim to be providing a service by tracking down rare electronics, but the reality of the situation is that they are looking to make a buck anyway they can even if that means deceiving their customers. Furthermore they don't even have the common sense to get themselves out of trouble. I offered to drop my complaint if they simply canceled my order, but their greed and ignorance is only getting them in more trouble.
I also found it humorous that they claim to be "special ordering" the item from their own warehouse. If you already have the item in a warehouse you don't have to order it at all... You just go into the warehouse, put the item in the box, and ship it to the customer.
Anyway it's been a learning lesson for me. My credit card company informed me that with all the evidence I have there won't be any problem getting my money back. I might even get a little extra if they really play their cards wrong. You'd think a company with a "legal department" would know how to avoid breaking the law. Furthermore you'd expect them to know not to tamper with evidence (tampering implies guilt). Stay away from pcplanetsystems.com. That component you're looking for isn't worth the hassle, trust me.
As a side note, in case you are reading any of the positive ratings pcplanetsystems.com has received, take note of the fact that many of them are just one long sentence with a series of commas where there should be periods... coincidence, or is this yet another example of this company's shadiness?

****UPDATE*****

So I did finally receive the product I ordered, sort of. I ordered a "superclocked retail version" (at least that was how it was advertised) of a card and received the "vanilla version OEM". I decided to drop the dispute (at least temporarily) facilitated by my credit card company despite the chronic false advertising by pcplanet systems. I only did this because I explained the situation to EVGA and was told I could step the VGA card up to the gtx 470 through them. I'm still not entirely sure what EVGA will think when they receive this pc planet systems card. It might be a fake for all I know.

Moral of the story was I let PC planet Systems off the hook because I found another way out of this mess. Thank god for reputable manufactures that are willing to clean up after shady vendors.

PC planet's reply to my review is really the epitome of what doing business with them is like. TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE and generally innapropriate... These guys say they work with big companies, yet they specialize in out dated products. That my friends is a conundrum. The fact is large computer builders aren't looking for last year's hard to find parts and therefore have no reason to deal with piddly little pc planet systems. I told the EVGA rep how pcplanet systems claims to deal with "many big companies." After he told me they weren't on EVGA's "approved reseller list" he admitted he'd never even heard of them and we both had a good laugh...

Long story short, I've learned my lesson; Don't deal with crappy internet companies. If you do, document everything and at the first sign of trouble drop a dime to the credit card company. They "BANNED" my account?! Did they even read my review? Do me a favor and nuke my account, and your company too while your at it lol..."
