"I saw an excellent deal on a refurbished HP icore-5 laptop and ordered online on the night of July 27,2010. After waiting a week I called Office Max and they told me the computer was with UPS. Checking the UPS website it said that "Billing Information Received" and I thought that it meant that delivery would be soon. About Tuesday last week(Aug 3) after not receiving the package I again called up Officemax and was told that it probably was recently shipped or will ship very soon from one of their warehouses and that the package will arrive AT THE LATEST on Monday, Aug 9, 2010. This Monday morning I called up Officemax and they said that the package was with UPS. I then decided to call a person at UPS who told me that they had NOT YET RECEIVED the item and that the "Billing Information Received" comment meant that Officemax notified UPS of their intention to ship a package but UPS was still waiting for the package. Curious I went online to check my credit card statement and it showed that Officemax charged my card $488.26 on July 30 and then gave me a credit on Aug 1 for $488.26. So with this info I called up Officemax again they told me that the item was damaged during shipment and had to be returned. BUT THEY NEVER BOTHERED TO INFORM ME. After hearing this I told the Officemax person to forget that I even ordered from them and that I will purchase my computer from Costco! "
"On 6/11/2010, I ordered several HP ink cartridges from OfficeMax.com, using a combination of MaxPerks reward points and a credit card to pay for same. On June 15, I received an email saying the order had shipped. However, the carrier they used does not provide tracking numbers or an ETA, so you have to stick a delivery waiver to your front door every day. After 10 days, I called customer service and they put a trace on the order. They said the order had not been delivered (like I didn't know that) and that I would receive a credit in the form of a mailed check. The customer service supervisor I spoke to initially refused to accept a call from me or to return call requests left on her voice mail. I just wanted to know why the order wasn't delivered.
The interesting thing is that this was the second time I had ordered online from OfficeMax. The first time, in March 2010, the exact same sequence of events occurred and it took over two weeks to get my check (I am now at 12 days and counting).
In my experience, STAY AWAY FROM THESE CLOWNS. I am 0 for 2 in receiving merchandise ordered and they do not proactively follow-up on orders, leaving that to the customer. They say that items have shipped (from Philadelphia PA all the way to Richmond VA, about 200 miles) but I doubt they have, they provide no tracking or ETA information (can't track something that hasn't shipped), assume all is fine unless the customer complains, take 48 hours to tell you what you already know, refuse to provide additional explanations, and make you wait over two weeks for a refund. So unless you want to order something you will never get and have your money tied up for a month while nothing happens, STAY AWAY FROM THESE CLOWNS. I won't even spend money in their stores anymore because I refuse to encourage stupidity; the world has enough as it is."
"DO NOT TOUCH THEM!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE THIEVES.
I ordered a logitech mouse for a great price and after waiting a week i called them up to get status they told me it got lost with the carrier, so i asked them to send me a new one instead, so they said its on backorder, i went and checked again on the site i saw the price was with 25 dollars more when.
It took for them 15 days to credit me back and when they did credit me back they deducted $7 for shipping charges (for an item which has not even shipped). "
"A year ago I made an order with OfficeMax.. after ordering, the site was updated to say that the item was on back order. Weeks literally passed, and I never received the order. I never received any cancellation emails.
Anyhow, I placed an order for a netbook this past Memorial Day weekend. Again, after placing the order, I checked the status to see it on back order. I quickly called Office Max to cancel the order, and upon confirmation of the cancellation, ordered a netbook from another retailer for a little more $.
Unfortunately, on 6/3, I received an email telling me my order had shipped. According to OfficeMax, I have to return the item to a store; the closest one is 50 miles away. The other netbook had already shipped, so I'm stuck as the victim of a crappy company with bad customer support. Never again."
"This outfit is completely out of control. They offered a free item with free shipping. When the order was placed, they accepted it and sent a confirmation email. Now they claim that the item is discontinued, but to find that out, I had to try to track the order.
They didn't have the decency to send an email, stating that the item is unavailable.
There is a law firm in this area that would just love to sink their fangs in this outfit.
"On March 8 I placed order for Zebra G-301 Gel Refill for amount of $141.10. After 2.5 weeks I contacted officemax.com customer service to check the status. I received email from them - after researching this missing merchandise with the carrier we have found that the items were not delivered. Your order has been cancelled and refund applied to your credit card. Now is April 14 and I still not get refund. I contacted my Amex card to get my money back. This is the worst company I had deal. I highly suggest that you stay away from this company. "
"I ordered a digital camera and memory card which was supposed to come with a free printer. I received a confirmation email confirming my order and date of shipment. What I got was a "compression camisole" in size 1X. I called the company as soon as it was received. I then got a email stating because I had "mispicked," the camera was no longer in stock, and she listed all the requirements for returning the item before they would credit my refund. I spent hours on the phone trying to get this straight. I followed their instructions exactly and returned both the camisole and the printer. Several days later, I received the same identical camisole in the original mailing bag returned in the box the printer was in. They had opened the mailing bag, but put it in the box the printer was in. They had taken the printer out. I'm never ordering online from Office Max again. "
"Do not buy from this reseller. I purchased a "new" Belkin router. What I received was clearly not a new unit. The unit did not arrive in shrink wrap. There was an "inspection" form in the box, which showed someone inspected the unit one day prior to shipping - it clearly was not inspected by the manufacturer. The unit was pagkaged in a way that showed it was either a return, and/or a refurb unit. The unit was a version 2. Per Belkin, V3 has been out for months. The unit had quick start instructions - but there was writing on the instructions from the prior owner. Upon checking, the writing was a Belkin 800 number for support, and the other number was a 12 digit Belkin problem ticket number. The unit did not operate correctly. Do not buy from this reseller. "
"1. Today is 03/07/10, and we have not received our order. We ordered a printer and one small item on 02/15/10. 2. When we called to check on our order (last week), we were told the order was cancelled. We were never notified order was cancelled. 3. When we called officemax.com customer service at 1 877 OFFICEMAX, they told us order was cancelled by their "card services" dept. and we were purportedly transferred to their card services dept. Their "card services dept.", told us, wrongfully, that "there was a problem with our credit card for the order". This is a blatant misrepresentation, as we know there is nothing wrong with our credit card, AND, we contacted our credit card issuer, and they said they approved the charge the day of the order (02/15/10). 4. We asked officemax.com card services dept., via phone and via email, to put their purported reason for cancelling the order IN WRITING via email or otherwise, but they ignored us and have not done so. 5. One way you can file legitimate complaints about officemax.com online, is not only via resellerratings.com (where they have complaints similar to this and a low rating), but also via the Better Business Bureau online (bbb.org), and you would do so with the Northern Illinois location of the BBB online, as that is where Officemax.com online is located. 6. Note officemax.com has had hundreds of complaints at bbb.org, similar to the complaints here at resellerratings.com. (see their complaint resolution stats). 7. Watch out for the use of broad and vague language, and, pretextual (false exuses/misrepresentations) "reasons" when you contact them to check on why your order was cancelled. Also, watch out for possible retaliatory and/or defamatory notes that officemax.com may have written on your officemax.com account with them (they can see the notes, you cannot), should you ever have had a problem with an order, &/or inquired about the order, &/or complained to them about an order or order cancellation. "By far, the worst on-line shopping experience I have ever had!! Ordered a computer desk on Feb 5. We received it pretty quick on Feb. 8. Good Job! The box was completely trashed and upon opening it, the fist 2 pieces pulled out are broken. I immediatley call cosumer service and they were very helpful in getting a new order processed. They said my first order had been refunded and a new order placed. You're new desk will arrive in about 3 business days. 3 days go by, no problem. On the fourth day we open the door to find a door knob hangar saying they missed us. WE WERE HOME ALL DAY. The hangar left a number for the shipping company, so I call the next morning to tell them when I'll be home (all day) and they said it will be delivered after 1:30. 8:00 PM rolls around so I open the door, there is another door hangar, Sorry WE MISSED YOU!!! I was home all day. I guess the desk was just too heavy for the delivery guy! One more day of this exact same problem. Meantime I have been on the phone with customer service. Of course they don't know anything about what is going on and I can't track my shipment online ( like Amazon) so they don't know who is supposed to drop off the new desk or pick up the broken one. When the delivery guy actually knocked on the door to make the delivery, he asked am I supposed to pick up the old one? I don't know because customer service blamed it all on the warehouse and couldn't say who would pick it up. Meantime I check my checking account and look at that THEY RECHARGED ME FOR THE FIRST DESK! Now they say it was a mistake to refund the first time because they can't do that until they receive the product back. Now it has been 11 days and the broken desk is still sitting in the box on my living room floor waiting to be picked up and all customer service can do is blame the ware house and tell me they will try to sort it out and call me back. We will see!! I will never shop at office max again, EVER, online or in the store. They won't pick up the product because they don't want to give me my money back!!"
"My worst experience so far. I was shopping for a laptop backpack and saw a portable hard drive on their site for cheap and added it along with my backpack. I was happy to get such a good deal.
Guess what! They cancelled my order saying that there was a price mistake for portable hard drive and they can not fulfill my order. Apparently they cancelled my order completely including the backpack. Okay but the funny thing is that they charged my credit card account for the backpack. It took me 45 days and 4 phone calls to get the amount credited back to my account. They were really prompt in cancelling the order but not so prompt in fixing the issue with charging my account. Beware of OfficeMax."
"After placing an order for an external hard drive with OfficeMax, I received an email confirmation that my order would be shipping. In the meanwhile, I was unable to check my order's status on OfficeMax's Web site. My order hadn't arrived after about three weeks, so I contacted OfficeMax about the status of my order. A few days later they responded that my order had been canceled because of THEIR typographical error. I never received any notification my order had been canceled.
Now, I have to go shop elsewhere for the hard drive and pay extra for fast shipping to get it on time. OfficeMax's customer service is just plain awful. "
"I ordered a Toshiba HD for $39.99 received e-mail confirmation. Tried to check on my order status several times but the site always said that it was down for maintenance. Finally called their customer service and after waiting and waiting she came back and said that the item had been cancelled due to a typographical error. She also said an e-mail had been sent out but I never received one (and yes, I check my spam folder). I find it infuriating that a business can decide they don't like the price on an item and decide to cancel it due to a typographical error. How convenient for them, and no proof needed either. I will be sure to tell everybody I know what they can expect when dealing with these people."
"I called ahead in regard to getting a new computer desk. The salaslady was most helpful on the phone and when I got to the store the items were exactly as she discribed them. Everyone was helpful and even loaded the box in the car for me. Yes, I will be back to this store whenever I need something."
