"Super customer service. I forgot to add promotional codes to my order and according to Office Depot policies, I shouldn't have gotten the discounts. Customer service helpped with the problem, the canceled my order and reorderd it A bit of a hassle, but I was pretty happy overall."

"First off, I'm not blaming a particular store location, but I am saying that their service is retarded. So we begin.

COMPLAINT #1
I make a purchase online and have it as pick-up in store to save on shipping costs.
In my confirmation e-mail, it states this:
"This confirms the order you placed for pick-up at your local Office Depot Store. You will receive a separate email notification when the order is ready for pickup."

I never received that separate e-mail, which is supposed to confirm that my order is ready to be picked up. I end up calling them and they finally tell me it is ready to pick up. Why must I, the customer, go out of my way to check if my order is ready to pick up? Are you not selling me your product and services?

COMPLAINT #2
When checking out online, I wanted to pay with credit card at the store itself. However, I am only allowed an option of cash and check (who still uses check?). I choose cash, thinking that they'll also allow credit card since it's no big deal.

When I get there, I am told that I HAVE TO pay with cash. Because I chose cash as the method of payment, I have to use cash to pay. That I completely understand. However, I wasn't allowed to choose "credit card" as a method of payment online. Why is that? At the register, I see a credit card machine right in front me and yet you tell me I can't use credit card as a method of payment? Ridiculous. They tell me the only way to get my product at that price is if I come again with cash. I mean I don't mind paying with cash, but I didn't have enough cash on me at the moment. There was nothing I could do unless there was an ATM of my bank outside of OD.

CONCLUSION
I just wasted my time and effort. Right now, I'm contemplating whether or not I should even go back and get the item. And even if I don't get my item, I bet they're not even gonna call me and ask if I'm still coming to get the item. I mean, they didn't even tell me that the item was ready to pick up."

"Can I give less than 1-star?

I ordered a phone from their website and they cancelled my order without even telling me. I emailed their 'customer service' and was given the runaround by 3 different people.

I can't say enough bad things about Office Depot and their lack of "customer service"."

"Wow, my story is like many others. Ordered a laptop that was in stock then became unavailable several days later. Don't they have any concept of inventory control? No notice, just silence. I call to find out why it didn't ship and was told (1) it would ship on time then (2) it will ship a few days late then (3) oops... we really don't have any to sell. Their solution was to try to sell me a laptop with a 2" smaller screen, inferior processor and, by the way, $100 more. They do not have customer service, Office Depot specializes in customer disservice. Never again! There are other choices, spend your time and money elsewhere. "

"I placed a order on black Friday for a Height-Adjustable Mobile Laptop Cart for half the retail price and with discounted coupon. Purchased shows back-ordered; but when store restocked their item, they still denied to ship my order. Customer support denied my order and told me to re-order the same item again for the full retail price. Office Deport is lame and will not do business with them again."

"I attempted to return this printer stand for 10 days. After countless phone calls, mostly to someone who spoke Gibberish English, multiple Emails, I FINALLY did get a return label. I had to take the package to the carrier. Then I was not even sure if the package had been returned. Returns are Next To Impossible!!!! "

"Never in my life had I had a retail experience like this! Ordered two laptops on black Friday that was available online at officedepot.com. Now the lap top was only available for about 10 minutes so you would assume they know how many they have and then when that quantity is gone they shut off orders. I followed the item online and it showed shipping about a day late, no big deal, but when I received the product they had shipped me it wasn't even what I had ordered. No problem I thought must be a shipping error. Well imagine my surprise when I call the 800 number and am told they intentionally shipped me the wrong product and it is considered an "equivalent" and am basically told I should just be happy because this computer is equivalent to what I bought. Let me see, I ordered a 17" laptop with a Intel processor, I received a 15" laptop with a AMD processor. Let me tell you how pissed off I am at this point. Needless to say the depot doesn't seem to care about their mistake. After two long calls to the 800 number I gave up because of all their excuses, "that's now only available in the store we cant ship you another one" Wait the stores are all out, Oops sorry but we sent you an equivalent etc...etc. Lucky for me I found a store manager that actually understands customer service and helped me to get the computers I ordered. This did take a 60 mile round trip drive twice but in the end if it wasn't for a very caring and customer friendly store manager I would have been screwed. Why can't 888 depot do what he did? Shipped the laptops in from other stores that showed inventory so I could get what I ordered. 888 depot....oh well we will let you return our error but we don't have anymore of those. Huh? you do to! I will never use office depot.com again! I will do everything I can to let people know how arrogant and un-customer friendly this company is!

DO NOT BUY PRODUCTS AT OFFICE DEPOT.COM!! Period"

"This will be my first and LAST purchase from homedepot.com. Their tracking is telling me my order was suppose to have been delivered yesterday, but i have not even received it yet. i've called their customer service number over 10 times and they are absolutely NO help whatsoever! they are very unprofessional and very rude. i will stick with newegg.com from now on when ordering online."

"I've been shopping with Office Depot for several years now. My experiences have been OK, but I've never really had to deal with their customer service (no-service) until recently. I've had a couple of horrible experiences with this company in the last month. First, it took them 40 days (and about 40 phone calls) to credit me on a laptop I purchased and returned from officedepot.com. What a nightmare! Next, (I should have known better) I ordered a computer monitor and was told it would be here in 3 days. When it didn't arrive, and after more than a dozen calls, I was told it was being shipped from the manufacturer. Now today, I see that the order was "deleted" with NO explanation. In general, they have horrible customer service. No one, including a couple of supervisors, were able to give me any clear answers on my order status, if my order has shipped, etc. In fact, I received conflicting answers from each of them! With so many other companies offering great customer service, I will spend my dollars elsewhere."

ResellerRatings.com TOP REVIEWER!

"Exactly similar experience as "needtries" below. Drove 17 miles to pick up a computer desk once i got a pick-up confirmation. the store manager wouldn't honor the purchase because it was supposedly a "computer error" and that the computer wasn't supposed to accept the promotional code, but did anyway, and generated confirmation letters--get this--automatically!! Clearly, these bozos do not check with their stores before they zap e-mail confirmation for merchandise pick-up your way!

Such an inconvenience and hassle getting your money back from these charlatans.

--update--
It took me over 6 calls and 3 weeks to Office Depot corporate CS to get a refund authorization, because a bozo store staff at the local store wouldn't release funds to the customer credit card, as if he had his own agenda. It was pathetic to see even OD central accounting/credit department given a go-around, not just the customer! Every time i called over a period of about 3 weeks, i was given a guarantee of refund within 24 hours--only promises, no furniture and no money.

When I was certain that the employee at the store wouldn't cooperate, I actually had to speak with someone higher up in corporate accounting to get my money back--funny how these guys seemed hapless and at the mercy of a store manager, unable to reverse a transaction without having to speak with the store frist!

After several recorded conversations at their end, a kind lady was finally able to issue me credit only after it was clear to her that the bozo employee (who deserves to get fired) at the store had placed a hold on funds for no apparent reason. Getting a tooth pulled out was perhaps less painful than dealing with these guys.

Please consider my experience before you opt for a store pick up with OD. Don't waste your time and money. They appear clueless and have a lot to learn from the likes of Amazon, Newegg and other online companies out there. A business with revenues of billions of dollars treating customers like this is just unimaginable, but i am sure it happens with OD more often than you would think.

Finally, be doubly cautious if you are dealing with a bunch of jokers at OD store, North Brunswick, NJ.

"I recently ordered an External Expansion Drive (Seagate 2TB) from Office Depot. The order was placed by the store employee, who did it correctly (even though it took time to get it right). It was scheduled for a two (2) day delivery to my home. After waiting a couple of days past the two day delivery I phoned Office Depot and they assured me that it would be two more days.

After a few days, after the extra two days, still nothing. Online it should that my account had it ordered and there were NO back orders, but it had not shipped. After speaking to the store representative who sold it to me, he tried to get information on the order from the Office Depot shipping dept. He got no better information or treatment than I did. It is now 15 days since ordering it and I finally got them to cancel the order and refund my money (will believe that when it shows up in my credit card account).

I had bought one of the drives from the store, that it had in stock. I plan on taking it back, even though I have opened the package, and I expect a full refund of my money with no restock charge or refusal because it is opened. They owe me big time and I will NEVER shop there again, ever.

This experience with them has spoiled their reputation with me and I will tell everyone I can about it, so hopefully they will not shop there and get treated the same way. If they have something on sale I will have Office Max or Staples or another store honor the Office Depot ad. I work too hard for my money and have spent too much time, MY time that I have now wasted on them.

All I got from employees and online reps was the run around, calls never returned until I became a thorn in their proverbial butt (really it is a pain in the side). As of this writing I absolutely cannot stand Office Depot.

I hope you shop somewhere else that gives good customer service from the company."

"Pros: copy paper for cheap prices; (slight) discount for bulk on some items; % off coupons; rewards; extensive selection of all you could need for your business; same-day or next-day shipping; corporate desire to improve quality of store (they listen to and act on your complaints or suggestions).

Cons: poor knowledge of copy/print staff; unprofessionalism of staff; inconsistency of prices-- they vary per source (i.e. 37.99 online; 34.99 in-store, 35.99 catalog, all for the same product on the same day); high turnover rate of personal account managers (I've had 3 different ones in 6 months); high prices on majority of items (very rarely will you find anything cheaper at Office Depot); extremely restrictive online search yields few results if you are unsure of the exact name of a product."

"Bought a monitor in store ,Ontario Calif. did not work .Returned it but could not get cash even though I paid with cash . I did get a gift card for the amount. On July 30 I found an office depot monitor online and used the gift card and my credit card to purchase. Was given delivery date of Aug. 6th . Finally on August 11th I called since the tracking kept giving me "in process" I called to get only a confirmation that someone would call me back within 4 hrs . NO CALL I did get an email saying the order was not in stock and they had no idea when it would be . I tried to cancel the order but had to speak with three different people and still I am waiting for a cancellation , I cannot use the merchandise gift card because they have it "locked" I cannot order another "in stock" item because Gift card is not valid , I will have to wait for a "mail check " to return gift card funds , even though I paid CASH at the store. I have no item , no gift card and am dealing with someone in another country to try to cancel my order. I have been shopping online for years and never ever had such a horrible experience."

"On July 2, 2010, I went to Office Depot store at Yuba City, CA. Talked to the associate there, purchased 1 u-shape office desk and a hi-back chair. Expected to pick it up right there as my new assistant starts work on July 5, 2010 but was told it's for delivery only. And they don't deliver during the weekend due to the holiday as well as for the following Monday. I was reasonable and accepted that they deliver to me on Tuesday the 6th, between 3 - 5 pm. By the end of Tuesday without seeing the order, I called the CS and was told by Nicole that it's scheduled for the 7th. Well, I considered it was not the CS's fault and told them the store made a mistake and I am not happy about the arrangement. A 10% discount was promised by the rep. and assured me the order will come next day through 3rd party logistics. In addition, my comment will be noted at the database should I call back again. Meanwhile, my new assistant has been sitting on a carton box and working on the coffee table for her first two days. The next day by 5pm, nothing. I called again, and was given the same excuse that the delivery company messed up,and 10% discount will be given. I explained to this lady(Andrea) that I have heard the same thing before. She "assured" me that UPS will deliver the products to me by 7Pm at night. So I didn't go home and waited until 7 pm at the office. You guessed right, nothing. Called again, talked to the thrid lady and was told that she has "no" information on my case as no one has inserted any comments on this issue but promised "a 10% discount" will be given once I put in a claim. By now we should all know that this is a standard stalling procedure to shut people up and I don't think they will give you that discount. So without any luck, I wrote a long complaint email to OD's customer service website. Next day, I got an email from the rep. (Ray) giving me the excuse of UPS not being liable, and wanted me to keep him posted. As well as "assuring" me that I will get my order this day. By the end of the day... Yep, nothing. So I went to a local shop and bought everything at a much cheaper price and available to be picked up. Finally my poor assistant is working properly and we celebrated it by kicking the coffee table down along with the OD's invoice to the floor. I ordered at the shop on July 2, and nothing until July 8. This was a complete nightmare!
Now, for the second nightmare, I am going to waste another I don't know how many hours/days to get my order canceled and the refund. God help me!
Listen to me, don't go there. Service at the store is terrible, CS reps are trained to fool you with the same lines from the manual. You get nothing but frustration and feel stupid, not to mention the time and money you lost."
