"I purchased an LG 42" LCD TV when it was on sale for $498 on the 21st. Like many others, it was assumed that I would receive the TV shortly after Christmas, so I neglected to seek out other deals on boxing day since I was elated about getting such a nice TV at a great price! I received an order confirmation, my credit card was charged, and I patiently waited for a shipping notice.

Unfortunately, after a week passed, the order just suddenly disappeared from my account details, and I received an email that it was "backordered". Note that this was an automated email and that my credit card had already been charged for a WEEK, tying up any possibility of purchasing any other gifts for myself during the Christmas holiday. Then, a day later, I received another automated email saying that my "cancellation request" was complete, EVEN THOUGH I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED THAT MY ORDER WAS BEING CANCELLED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I've ordered many things in the past from Newegg.ca and my experiences have always been great. However, the way they have handled this fiasco is laughable at best, and really shows that they don't care about their customers at all. I will not be shopping from Newegg from now on, and will advise all friends and relatives to do the same."

"I purchased a LG 42LM5800 LED 1080P 120hz Cinema3D HDTV / 2 sets of Dual Play Gaming Glasses from Newegg on December 21, 2012. I received an email within 5 min confirming my credit card had been charged, and that my "order should be processed and ready for ship-out within 24-48 hours."

After this, I received an email on the same day stating "Your order should be processed and ready for ship-out within 24-48 hours. Below is your confirmation. Please keep a copy for your records."

After receiving that email, I did not receive an email till December 27 stating that "Unfortunately, one or more item(s) in your recent order cannot be shipped and are now backordered. Item(s) may become backordered as a result of an inventory miscount, if remaining inventory is found to be in unacceptable shipping condition and for various other reasons."

Furthermore, they were going to refund my money for the TV due to the fact it will not be shipped. I proceeded to talk to a customer service representative at Newegg and he did not provide me with any other solutions other than the fact my payment will be refunded.

The reasons I am providing a bad review are as follows:
- The funds were taken from my credit card without the item being shipped.
- The fact the funds were taken from my credit card and held for 6 days (still pending refund) means that I am not able to purchase another TV (as I have a low limit on my credit card).
- The fact I ordered this TV, I was unable to purchase another TV during Boxing day deals in Canada.
- The customer service representative who I spoke to over the phone offered little to no help; he only stated that there will be a refund coming to my account.
- They did not offer a solution to the issue at hand.

Furthermore, they erased the order history for the TV attempting to cover up this issue. Luckily, I have saved all of the confirmations/ order statuses and have confirmation that this occurred. Overall, I had an extremely bad experience with Newegg.ca and will not shop with them again."

"I ordered LG 42" LED 1080P 120hz Cinema3D HDTV / 2 sets of Dual Play Gaming Glasses from Newegg.ca. It charged my credit card and emailed me a confirmation that my order is in the packing stage. 5 days later I checked to see my status update and my order was gone. I call customer service and they said that they are back ordered and they cancelled my order. How can a company take money from you and not ship you your item after confirming that the product is being gathered in the warehouse. I've contacted customer service and they offered to let me use the promo code from this deal (which is $200 that particular model). However, they already changed their price online to $200 more so the promo code is nullifies the deal plus they told me that they would probably not get anymore in. Offering $200 off a tv that they are probably not getting anymore instock and holding my money for almost 2 weeks is ridiculous. I would advise people not to order from Newegg!!"

"I ordered the 42" LG TV on Dec 22nd and was processed and put in packaging stage. Finally on the 27th I received a backorder email and my order was removed from the site and canceled. Why take my money if you don't have stock.

This was first time using your site and will be the last and I'll make sure to let all my friends know how shady your company is run.

**UPDATE*** In the end I was able to get my TV, but there are still others who haven't had a resolution yet. However, for me the problem has been fixed and my rating has been adjusted. "

"I am extremely disappointed with my experience with newegg.ca. On the 22nd i placed an order for a 42"m LG TV and FIVE days later receieved an email telling me the TV was "back ordered" and i would be refunded. Funny, righht. This is after they took my money for this full FIVE DAYS (and counting) and sent me an email saying my purchase was at the "packaging" point. This handy capped me for Christmas, i also sold my old TV in anticipation to his one now i have NO TV. I called yesterday and spoke to a supervisor, he told me he would email me back tomorrow but he couldnt promise me a call back because there busy this time of here. Really? What a joke. Their compasation of a $25 gift card for my purchase was also laughable. Stay away from newegg, they'll take your money and not follow through on your purchase after confirming packing. It is now the 28th and they still have my money!!!"

"- On December 21, late EST, Newegg.ca had a promotion on an LG 42 inch LED 3DTV where there was an instant $200 savings on an already on sale price of 600, lowering the price to 400. Many people ordered this TV I placed my order at 1:41am EST on Dec. 22 (approximately only a few hours after the deal was live).

- I got a confirmation that my order was placed, as well as a confirmation that my credit card was successfully charged and my order was changed to packaging (which meant items were being collected for shipping and I could NOT make any more changes)

- The TV was still labeled as in stock in the morning (9am EST) and only went out of stock a few hours later.

- On December 27, people started to receive e-mails from Newegg.ca stating that the TV was backordered. However, when we examine what actually happened, the order seems to be cancelled and vanished from my order history – essentially like it never existed. Newegg said that customers would be issued a refund in 1-2 business days.

- Newegg CSR’s and management has given multiple, conflicting answers to consumers, basically saying that too many people ordered the TV and their inventory management system could not update in time

o However, this doesn’t make sense given the fact that it seems like almost everyone’s order got cancelled (hundreds, maybe even thousand+) and the fact that it said it was in stock for so long

o They also said it was on a first-come, first-serve basis but right now, based on comments on the Redflagdeals.com thread, people have been getting their 3D glasses order and the TV arriving who ordered after people whose orders were cancelled.

- Newegg management has decided now that a $25 gift card is their final offer to people affected by this, which many, including myself see as completely unacceptable given the facts.

o They charged our credit cards immediately after the order. They had Dec. 24th to figure this out, which they didn’t and it took them 5 days later to even cancel the orders

o Many people thought they had this TV already since it was in packaging (and credit cards charged), and as a result sold their existing TV’s, bought items to complement the TV, and/or elected not to do shopping on Boxing Day for another TV since they got a deal

§ However, this is all now a sunk cost or opportunity cost seeing as we have no TV’s and no proper compensation for this error.

As you can see, this situation is not being handled well at all by Newegg and no clear answer is being given and no proper compensation given the unique situation. Additionally, Newegg has been deleted comments from individuals on their Facebook page – these comments are complaining about the situation and are generally valid customer complaints. While they have every right to delete any comment, doing this is further showing that they are trying to sweep this under the rug and finish this.

As of 2PM EST on December 28th, Newegg is now responding to the Facebook posts saying they are investigating. An RFD member received a phone call and there will be a response within the hour."

"Edit: After major pressure from the online community, NEWEGG.CA came back with options. I was able to get the original purchase, or smart TV or $100 GC. Change the rating from 1 star to 3.

"I purchased a LG 42" LED 1080P 120hz Cinema3D HDTV / 2 sets of Dual Play Gaming Glasses from Newegg on December 21, 2012 at 5:11:45 AM (pst). I received an email within 5 min confirming my credit card had been charged, and that my "order should be processed and ready for ship-out within 24-48 hours."

Logging back into my NewEgg account (within 15 min of purchase time) confirmed that the TV was ready to ship, as my order status had been updated from:

Status: Order Verification - Your order has been successfully submitted. Your credit/debit card has not yet been charged. Please allow 1-2 business days for your order to process.

TO:

Status: Packaging - Your payment has been successfully processed and has passed Order Verification. Products are being collected in the warehouse and boxed for shipment or pick up. Please note that you may no longer make changes to your order.

On December 27, 2012 at 1:20 PM (Eastern), I received an email stating "...unfortunately, one or more item(s) in your recent order cannot be shipped and are now backordered." Keep in mind, this is 6-days AFTER I placed the order, which means I have missed the Dec 26th Boxing Day sales (the Canadian equivalent to the U.S. Black Friday sales)! Any chance to purchase an equivalent TV on sale has now passed.

Oddly, the NewEgg 'backordered' notice also states: "please allow 1 to 2 business days for a refund of the backorder value", which sounds more like a CANCELLATION rather than a backorder. Logging into my NewEgg account, I was very surprised to find all details of the order had been deleted/wiped. This only adds to my suspicion that the true reason for cancellation is being withheld.

Please note - I am part of a larger group of ~400+ (est.) that purchased this TV deal & later receive the 'backordered' notice. Notably, some members have advised they did/are still slated to receive the TV (despite their purchase-order being placed at a later time). "

It's a well written and accurate assessment of the situation. "

"I placed an order with Newegg on Dec. 22, 2012 for a 42" LG 3D LED TV. They were quick enough to process my order and pull the funds out of my account. On Dec. 28, 2012 I received an email stating that the item was on backorder and that they'd cancelled my order. What? Cancelled an order due to an item being on backorder? Now I'm SOL as far as taking advantage of any competitors boxing day deals. After speaking with a CSR, I was told that Newegg will not honor the sale price when this TV is back in stock.
Here's the kicker, though - they actually went through the trouble of deleting any trace of this order in my order history. Good job, Newegg. Good job."

"I purchased two LG 42" LED 1080P 120hz Cinema3D HDTV's on Dec 22. I received an email within 15 minutes telling me order had been charged. When I logged into Newegg a day later, I saw the status had changed to
Status: Packaging - Your payment has been successfully processed and has passed Order Verification. Products are being collected in the warehouse and boxed for shipment or pick up. Please note that you may no longer make changes to your order.

I was very excited about these 2 tv's as they were Christmas gifts for my family. I got them excited about it too. Because we were expecting these TV's, we stopped shopping for boxing day TV deals.

On December 27, 2012 at 1:27 PM EST, I received an email stating "...unfortunately, one or more item(s) in your recent order cannot be shipped and are now backordered."

This was a confusing email as it led me to believe I would be getting the product when Newegg received more units. I then realized the whole order had been cancelled.

This was very disappointing. I've read that several others have received the same news.

Of all my years of frequent online shopping, I have never had this happen to me before. I have never been charged and told that an item was ready to be shipped only to find out 5 days later that it was not available and will not be in the future.

When I logged into my account at Newegg again, my order was completely wiped from the system. Instead of showing that the order was backordered or cancelled, there is no history of it.

This is very shady and unprofessional. I will not be shopping at Newegg again.

"Update : they did substitute another TV

On December 22nd I purchased the LG 42LM580 from the Canadian website of Newegg (Newegg.ca).The order was confirmed by Newegg and my PayPal account was charged. The order was noted as in packaging phase awaiting shipping. On 2012 12 27, I received an email saying my order was backordered and they were cancelling my order? In my account on the website the order disappeared. This is strange as Newegg claims they don't backorder items.

Contract for the sale of a TV was made and accepted by Newegg when they took the payment from me. They were being deceptive by claiming the TV was "back ordered" but wiping the order from my account.

They took my money and waited 5 days to inform me that they couldn't fulfill their agreement. This was a Christmas present for my kids and now I had to tell them they won't be getting it.

"Purchased 42lm5800 TV based on neweggs advertised price & promo code. Order completed and payment processed. Just awaited shipping. On dec 27th newegg cancelled everyone's order and delay 3 days in refunding the payment.
However, upon complaints Newegg stepped up and honored the original purchase. I am impressed but would have like to not have had any problem to begin with. "

"I bought on dec 22 a LG 42" 3D TV which was 50%OFF + an other $200 Coupon code offered by Newegg.
The dream has been convert in a total nightmare.
After sucessfully charge my credit card and confirm me my order, what a surprise when I received on dec 27 an email telling me that the item is BACK ORDER!!
Now they will refund me in the next 5 days but I lost my time, and money because I was planning buying a TV on boxing day but now missed all chance to get a similar deal.

With all positives feedback newegg.ca got, I never expected this!

The worst in this story : They totally delete all traces of my order in their system. Unable to find anything in the history of my newegg account!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Egg! :(((

Christophe B.

UPDATE : Received my TV few weeks after the disaster. TV works perfectly! Long story, but the end is better than expected!"

"My order number was 1102112322. I placed this order on 22 Dec 2012 around 9.45 AM EST and my credit card was charged for an amount of C$ 480.25 on 24 the Dec. After that on 27th Dec. I received an email from Newegg saying that the item is back ordered and it may not ship. Meanwhile from 24 to 27 Dec I kept in touch with Newegg customer care via live chat and phone and each time I was assured that my order will be shipping. On the morning of 27th Dec I was told by Newegg customer care that my order is being fulfilled by a third party warehouse and it has possibly shipped and I will receive the shipping notice soon.

Around 1 PM on 27th Dec I got the email mentioned above from Newegg. I feel scammed by this whole episode as I was not able to get this deal despite my credit card being charged for the full amount by Newegg."

"EDIT: resolved, shipped me original TV as final sale.

Scammed hundreds of customers out of a deal on a LG 42" HDTV. Just check their facebook page (although they are now deleting negative comments!) Most orders were placed on 22nd, went into packaging status, credit cards charged.....then 5 days later receive a 'back-order' email essentially telling me its cancelled. Then deleted order from everyone's order history on their site. Now I don't have a TV *AND* I missed out on other boxing day deals thinking I had already gotten one. Customer service is useless, all they can give is canned replies. Poor management decisions, and even worse handling of the situation."
