"Ordered an item last week and was immediately upset with them because such a light item shouldn't cost nearly $7 to ship (1/3 of the cost of the item). Then, after way over-paying for the shipping, here we are on Monday of the next week and the item hasn't shipped or, from what i can tell, hasn't even been prepped for shipping. i got onto live chat with them and they basically said that it takes them up to 5 business days to actually ship an item (wtf?) and that it could be another 5-7 business days before the item is received. at that point i asked them to cancel the order and, although nothing appears to be happening with it, this also would take 2 business days just to figure out if it could be done or not. Note to self - purchase somewhere else unless time means nothing!"

"I recently purchased a rental property. during the fix up process that took 2 months, I visited The Home Depot in Surprise, Arizona many times. I was always greeted and helped by many associates. The one who stood out the most was Beth in the paint dept. She always met me with a smile and was very nice. She was also very helpful. Don't know what I would do without people like Beth."

"I have been in the process of completely remodeling our townhome
a total of 3 complete levels. We have purchased the majority of items, ie from electrical, plmbg, appliances, complete carpeting,Bar-B-Q grill, paint, you name it. We have had nothing but 100% complete satisfaction. That includes returns, scheduling & prompt service reguarding carpet installation. When
installation was complete, we were contacted & asked if we were satisfied with the work & product. In addition, because I am a veteran, we receive a discount. I have no complaints, and will always recommend Home Depot."

"Ordered a dishwasher and paid $100 for a professional installation. Homedepot sent and unlicensed delivery company to my home that did not complete the install because he did not feel comfortable completing a hard wire dishwasher install. Complete waste of time. HomeDepot is completely unprofessional, their online customer service was rude and unhelpful and did not care to help. I reordered with Lowes for $150 less. "

"Home Depot.ca screws their customers
I purchased a pedestal sink set (approx $500)delivered to my home. My contractor was slow finishing the project. The specifications of the product were incorrect.
Unfortunately 1/4 inch made a difference between opening the bathroom door or not. Return was impossible beyond 90 days even though boxes were unopened. The local store would not take it because it was a model the stores did not carry, just the on-line store. Home Depot.ca was callous and indifferent to the local store's efforts to make an exchange work. DON'T USE HOME DEPOT ONLINE THEY SELL DIFFERENT PRODUCTS THAN THE STORES."

"I placed an online order at homedepot.com for in-store pickup for an air conditioner air filter that was listed as having 87 of those items in stock at that store. A few minutes later I get a call from that store telling me that the store cannot find the item and they are cancelling my order. So I go and check homedepot.com for other locations that have this item in stock and I found a store that had 44 of them. So I place the order for in-store pickup at that store, and sure enough, the same exact thing happens: I get a call a few minutes later telling me that that store can't find the item either. I can't imagine an air filter of a specific size being a popular enough item for 2 local stores to sell over 120 of them in one morning. So it seems like there is something wrong with Home Depot's inventory system, and needless to say, I will be shopping at Lowes from now on, as their stock inventory system doesn't lie like Home Depot's."

"Shop somewhere else and save yourself the headache and wasted time. Other stores may cost more, might be set up poorly, dirty, or a multitude of other things that would otherwise make you think Home Depot is a good store. DON’T BELIEVE IT! If you are going to buy anything from them, simply go to a brick wall and slam your head against it repeatedly until you bleed from your ears. That will be far better than trying to do business with Home Depot. Playing with razor blades in the middle of the highway would be better than trying to contact, call, email, or communicate with these clowns. Whatever you do, avoid the anger than ensues from dealing with these indifferent, apathetic, superficial, chronic liars.
I placed an order well over $500 for window treatments. That’s right, simple vertical blinds to be specific. Home Depot said it would take 4 to six weeks for delivery. They were right too. It took all 6 weeks. That part was fine though. The problem emerged after receiving our NON-REFUNDABLE purchase. When we received the blinds they were in good shape and we were excited to install them. Too bad they did not send any installation brackets and hardware. What are we supposed to do, just nail them to the window? Super glue them?
So we started the calling, the driving from one store to another, the three days of wasted time trying to find these stupid brackets to install our new blinds. No luck. We tried to call Home Depot. They told us to get them at the store. That store said they didn’t have any but “this” store might. Nope. Five stores later, I still cannot install my NON-REFUNDABLE purchase. So to help, I called the store again and the Home Depot basically told us to “get fu**ed” and call the vendor, Bali, for the brackets. We might as well have asked our dog for them. At least our dog would have done more than Bali! Bali cares even LESS than Home Depot (if that is even possible)!
Two weeks after I received my NON-REFUNDABLE purchase for vertical blinds that I cannot install, I called the store again and they hung up on me not once but twice. I promise Home Depot will never see any more of my money.
If you have even a small hand full of brain cells, take them somewhere else, pay more, deal with an arrogant salesperson in a dirty store... whatever you have to do to save your valuable time because Home Depot does not give a damn about you, your sale, or anything you have to say!
The slogan for Home Depot should be, "You can do it, because we sure as hell won't!"

"This was my first time shopping at Home Depot (Online Store). I ordered some bird seed online during their FREE Shipping Promotion. The order was processed and shipped in 5 Days via UPS Ground. No problems with order and the items were well packaged. I will probably order from Home Depot again."

"NEVER buy online!!! Heaven help you find someone to talk to you that knows what they are talking about. Tried to place order online, but kept getting booted off site. Thought order didn't go in. Never got a confirmation and the order did not show up on my account. About an hour later, I called a customer rep and asked him if the order went through. He said it did not show up in the system and he order the items for me. I was sent and charged for a duplicate order. Turns out the rep obviously didn't know that it takes a while for the order to show up in the system. I made numerous calls and was shuffled from person to person....in different departments and each are located in different states. The left hand (homedepot.com) doesn't know what the right hand (credit dept) is doing and vice versa. Never again!!!"

"7/9 edit: after a conversation with Amy from Home Depot corporate resolutions, it's clear to me that HD does care. She was very understanding and I feel went above and beyond in resolving this issue.

After a couple of research trips to the store, during the Memorial Day sale, I placed an order for three appliances at store# 1068: an LG washer, an LG dryer, and a GE Adora fridge, all rated well. The employee taking the order, Steve, told us that as long as we stick with a delivery date and not change it after placing the order, we are LOCKED IN, but if we change the date, they couldn't guarantee stock or a new delivery date. Keeping this in mind, we selected a date of June 15th--two days before we're supposed to move in. Order total comes out to approximately $2850 after tax--paid in full.

A few days (less than a week) before June 15th, I get a call from, I guess LG saying that my dryer was out of stock until July 5th, and since they don't split deliveries, I wouldn't have a washer or dryer until 6/5. Great.

On June 12th, I go back to store# 1068 and hilarity ensues. When I tell the employee manning the appliances department (Jane), she tries to pull a bait-and-switch on me, trying to upsell a Maytag W+D set that would cost me an extra $650, saying things like "Oh I've had great experience with Maytag. They're really reliable" "LG is a Korean company," (I kid you not--never mind that Maytag units are made in Mexico) "LG makes everything from cellphones to appliances, so you may have issues with customer support," etc. When I ask for compensation for my time wasted on this issue, I'm offered a $100 gift card (on the >$1600 delayed W+D), and am told that $100 is an absolute maximum as per "company policy." Fed up with this attitude, I decide to take it up with phone customer support.

The phone support rep, Asantae, is very understanding and was great to deal with. He asks me what I would consider fair compensation (says NOTHING about $100 being the max.) I tell him I would consider 10% of the busted washer and dryer part of the order as fair, and he promises someone will get back to me, and that he'll follow up with me. Within a few hours, I have a store 1068 manager (Edith) calling me, offering $145 back as a credit. I decide to take them up on a credit.

The next day, June 13th, I go in and ask to speak with a manager. After 20 minutes of waiting, a manager (Matt) comes and takes a look at the order. He says he sees notes in the system for a $145 credit. When I tell him that $145 doesn't make sense to me mathematically, he agrees and decides to bump it up to $160. Fair enough. Then, just to make sure everything else is alright with the order, he takes a look in the system to confirm my delivery is scheduled for July 5th now. Doesn't see it. He then finds out the washer is out of stock until July 12th! Two days before my original delivery date and four days before my move in date, I'm now being given a SECOND NEW delivery date! He decides to call up Depot Direct (HD's delivery service), and posing as a customer, gets the same information. At this point, probably feeling what I've been going through, even he is frustrated and curses as he hangs up. He also ends up finding out that the fridge won't be delivered either, as Depot Direct won't deliver the fridge until the W+D are in stock. He suggests a simple solution: let's split up the order, and he'd make sure the credit gets factored in to the new price.

When he starts creating the two new orders for the fridge and the W+D, he notices the fridge is also out of stock! Glorious. The appliances guy (Eric) is brought over to suggest choices, and this time suggests a $100 more expensive GE fridge that Matt decides to sell to me at the same price as the GE Adora. Mind you, this is the same Eric who told me to NEVER buy a GE unless it's an Adora, Profile or Cafe unit. So, in front of Matt, I call out Eric and ask him to tell me that this fridge will work just as well as the GE Adora, which he does. Matt also assures me that the fridge will be delivered on 6/16.

When Matt is finally placing the new orders for the W+D, and the fridge (155972 and 155971, respectively), the new total is only $60 lower! Huh? What happened to $160? Matt explains he did put in the discount, and that's what he got (and I do believe him.) So I take him up on the new order, so that at least I'll have a fridge when I move in.

True to his word, Asantae calls me to follow up. I tell him the new developments, to which he listens very patiently. When I'm done, as a personal aside, he tells me that he too has GE appliances and they work great, which is good to know.

At this point my memory is a little muddy, but somehow, either through Matt or Asantae, I end up with a further $90 credit, which I do accept and decide not to pursue this issue further(even though I don't feel it's fair, since it's not 10% of the ENTIRE busted order.)

Fast forward to today, July 6th, and I get a call from LG saying my W+D are now out of stock until the 18th. My order is paid in full, my money is being held hostage, and I'm being told to wait longer."

"Ariens Classic LM21SW lawn mower:

This is not really a Home Depot problem but a problem with Ariens. However, they sell the lawn mower, I think they should carry consumables like filters for the products they sell.

The mower came to me and not a single nut or bolt was tight. Then I had to go through all the drive train adjustments as the thing wouldn't even move. The swivel wheels just flop all over the place and is a real pain to get to go where you want. Then I start looking for filters. Yes there are 3 filter, two air and one oil, and you can only get them from an Ariens dealer. So, I called Paul's all right sales & SVC 135 N HWY 89 North Salt Lake, Ut. 84054 to inquire as to how much the air filter and oil filter would cost and the answer I got was "I don't know". Then did you buy the mower from us? Then the shit starts about I didn't buy it from him so why should he supply me with parts??? Then he hung up on me. Ya, I need this kind of sh!t after spending all day trying to find someone that has parts for this mower. Consumables at that. Not even Ariens will sell me the filters. This is crap and I will not put up with it. I have taken the lawn mower back to Home Depot and will never look at anything Ariens again. Your customer support stinks!

DO NOT BUY FROM ARIENS IF YOU WANT CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!!"

"I had an AWESOME experience. I actually ended up ordering a solar panel where the voltage was too high for my needs. It was my error, not theirs. They let me return it though anyway (to a local score) and helped me order the right one. I have ordered from them before and have thus far had nothing but very positive experiences. Plus, there were no shipping charges. I will most certainly order from them again. "

"Home Depot offered a great price on a ride-on mower that I've been eyeing for a while. With free delivery to my door step and an online coupon, I was very pleased with my order and have since placed another order online; I will continue to do so as long as they retain their free shipping offers and generous return policy."
