"ORDERED CONTEMPORARY SET OF TWO CHAIRS MEDIUM OAK BORDEAUXMARQUIS FOR 159.00 PLUS SHIPPING OF 23.95. THE SHIPPING BOX SAYS STAKMORE. SAW THE SAME EXACT CHAIR BY THE SAME MANUFACTURER BEING SOLD BY COSTCO AT 29.99 EACH. THEY ARE SENDING ME A RETURN LABEL SO I COULD RETURN THE CHAIRS. GOOD COMPANY BUT WITH BAD PURCHASING DEPARTMENT. ALWAYS BE WARY OF THE PRICES FROM THIS COMPANY. I WILL BE FROM NOW ON. WILL UPDATE THIS REVIEW WHEN THEY HAVE FINALLY CREDITED ME BACK FOR THE FULL AMOUNT UPON RETURN OF THE ITEMS."
"Our furniture arrived without damage in the boxes. Once we started putting it together, one side of a bench was missing the holes required. Waited 2 weeks for new part to show up. Continued putting the bench together and screw holes didn't line up correctly so three screws came through the back of the bench seat. Ordered more parts... none available... item discontinued... so they would give us 50% off a new item... allow us to ship it back for refund... or take pictures and pray for a "field destroy" to bypass shipping. Not real happy with these folks."
"Run far. Run very far. Home Decorators is the worst experience I ever had. Back on January 3rd, my mom wanted a new media cabinet with glass doors that she saw in one of the mass mailed Home Decorators Collection publications.Being the good son I try to be, I looked at the item on their website at www.homedecorators.com that night and decided to buy it for her. Total cost with shipping and handling was $285.27. A week later she received the media cabinet, shipped via FedEx in a cardboard box. I went over to her house (I had dedicated the afternoon to putting the thing together), and commenced to unpack everything. I started assembling the cabinet and found the instructions quite easy to follow. (I have assembled many of these Chinese made follow-the-numbers type assembly instructions over the years so knew what to do). I got the thing 100% finished and I have to admit it looked nice. Except. Except the right door would not slide closed. It was stuck. I checked all of my cam-bolt connections and everything else only to discover the right door and the right support panel was warped! Warped just enough to prevent the door from functioning. I tried a few things to get the door to slide closed all to no avail. Mom was very patient as I pushed the thing up against a hallway wall, while promising to get it resolved.Upon returning home I went to Home Decorators online and went through the process of ordering the replacement parts online. Everything seemed fine except 3 weeks went by and I heard nothing. I decided to call customer service and was told that the parts replacement order I made was not in their system!I went through the process of telling the CS android what I needed and she assured me that the items would be shipped just as soon as they are available. She said to call back if I do not receive them by the middle of May! So I call Home Decorators (which is now owned by Home Depot), and the CS person told me that there was "a container in the U.S." but she didn't know where it was. She offered to take 50% off of the price if I accepted it as-is. I told her NO, I want the replacement parts you promised! By now my mom has now called 2 or 3 times gently asking about the status of the parts. My conversation with Home Decorators today left me wondering whether or not I would ever get the parts. No promises. Nothing! I am spitting tacks here! I am ready to launch the stupid media cabinet off a 4-story building. And my poor mom! For God's sake!Stay away from these hacks lest you also get burned! Shoddy products and slimy customer service!!!"
"On Feb 8, 2009, I placed an order for furniture in the amount of $1032. I was promised a $10 customer reward for every $50 spent, which meant I would receive a $200 credit. It was to be sent to me SOMETIME BEFORE MARCH 25, BY EMAIL OR US MAIL, and needed to be used between March 25 and April 8. I watched email and US mail for 7 weeks; on March 25, I left for Rwanda for 2+ weeks. I still thought I would be receiving the email or US mail certificate and had my daughter watching at home. Nothing showed up during the time I was away. I called the minute I had a US phone again (Saturday April 11, in the morning). I was promised someone would call me back Monday morning, but no one did. When I called back, I was informed that I'd missed the the window for ordering and they could not help me. They admitted that many people didn't get their emails (sent out, they said, March 24--though I have every other email they sent me, but not that one). Those people were required to CALL IN to get the reward certificate. I explained that I couldn't call since I didn't have phone service in Rwanda, and that I'd called the moment I returned. I explained that I think it is unfair to have a 7 week window in which you may receive information in multiple formats, and then to blame me when I don't phone them (because I can't) to ask why I haven't received the certificate. Wayne Ford, the customer service supervisor, was VERY SORRY but couldn't help me. This feels like a scam designed to make it difficult (if not impossible) for people to receive the rewards they've been promised. I will never order from this company again."
"Do not order from this company. I placed an order for four items that they said were in stock. I receieved one within two weeks and another one within three. Two the items never arrived and i was told that one of them was lost. I then cancelled one of the items and my refund which was less than i paid for the item. When calling to find out why they said because i cancelled that one item i would longer receive the 30 discount on the total order. So basically they come out ahead for their mistake."
"I bought from their outlet store paying at least 70% less for 2 bathroom vanities and a cabinet. They emailed at least 3X from confirmation to the progress of shipping. For the heavier vanity, a local shipper called for the date of delivery. All items came promptly. As for quality, they were mixed wood, wood veneers and MDF but very well constructed. Assembly was straight forward altho I had to use slightly larger screws for the cabinet door hinges since the ones provided were too short and tiny which likely won't hold long from constant use. The vanities came all assembled, just connect and add the fixtures. I didn't see any misrepresentation of the product. They were exactly as described on their site. I probably wouldn't buy from the main store w/ such exorbitant pricing. I do keep the outlet in my favorites. I'm leaving this positive review for the Home Decorators Collection "OUTLET" and NOT the main store itself. "
" It took hours to put together the cabinet, but it was well worth it. It's beautiful. I ordered this cabinet on 4/21/08 and I received it on 4/25/08. Super fast delivery. Excellent service! Excellent product! I will buy from Home Decorators again. Thanks!!"
"I ordered some chaise cushions and a market umbrella.Everything arrived promptly, and the cushions are very nice. The umbrella was broken when it arrived, and I have to give kudos to customer service for their speedy and efficient work.In only a couple of minutes on the phone, I was offered a refund or exchange with paid shipping back, or a credit if I wanted to have it fixed here.I opted for an exchange and unfortunately the second umbrella also arrived broken. At this point I have opted for a refund, but customer service was equally quick and helpful.I should emphasize that it did not appear that the broken struts on the umbrella were due to shipping damage as much as weak wood or damage during construction.Although this product was not too impressive, I won't have a problem trying again because I know I won't be stuck with a dud product and no help."
"You have to be very careful when ordering from these folks .... they do not have YOUR best interest in mind. The Craftsman collections are marginal quality in that they are mostly veneer and mdf. When they screw you over ... and they will ... their "coupons" aren't worth anything .... in that whatever you might be ordering won't qualify for the coupon usage. They also charge tax in states where they have a "store within a store"at some Home Depots ... they also hose you pretty good with their "Freight Surcharges" which have absolutely no bearing on anything. Be careful .. buyer beware ... now you know. "
"I ordered a folding bookcases with mantel top from them but got only the Top part. I did read the description of this merchandise from their page before I ordered carefully. It did specify the size, dimension of bookcases I want, and never mentioned that this was only the Top of the bookcases. When I call them, they told me that I just ordered only the Top part! If I need the bookcases, I need to place and another order and pay another $116! This is totally rip off and you might get only parts or pieces of what you see from their website page description. Beware!!"
"They processed the order charged the card and gavea ship date.Next apology email adding a month to ship date.Ten days later the money is refunded to card with no email or call.I call three weeks later and told the item was canceled.WASTE OF TIME!CUSTOMER SERVICE DEE DEE DEE !"
"I ordered from this company on 6-14 got a confirmation email never heard anything until 6/22 when I got a cancellation email. It was suppose to ship next day, for 3-5 days delivery instead it took 8 days to tell me that they where not going to do anything. Great inventory systems they have... They did give me a $10.00 coupon and when I tried to use it would not apply and then they would not ship to California... What is that about! Who does not ship to California...?So I tried to call but guess what…. No Answer… HAHAHA … I think this is a scam site… Watch your credit card or check the BBB rating ins their state not good. "
"Warning about false and misleading product descriptions! This is my third order from Home Decorators. I ordered two pieces from their Hawthorne collection which they describe as 'solid wood construction' and 'superbly crafted of solid wood'. I even contacted customer support to verify that the drawers would also be solid wood, which they confirmed. When I received my order I found that this collection is almost completely constructed of mdf with only an occasional piece of solid wood. Do not believe their descriptions - sometimes they are grossly innacurate. Products arrive totally disassembled so repacking and returning is a huge undertaking."
"I have now ordered a tv stand, a linen cabinet, hampers, and a double vanity. I love this place. There is a wide selection, beautiful items at a fair price. The assembly part is difficult but that's the same as all other furnitures delivered. Delivery is prompt. I would definitely order from this website again. "
"Fortunately and unfortunately, I did not check resellerratings before ordering. Ordered 2 items (furniture). Received both within reasonable time. Put together the first item. Beatiful, just as advertised. I could not be happier. Started to put together the 2nd item. This one consisted of 12 parts. Found 2 parts broken. Called customer service around 1/25. They were nice and offered to ship replacements. 2/1 asked where the shipment was, was told would ship 2/5. Shipped 2/7. Received 2/10. strated to put together the item again, found 2 more damaged parts. Requested replacement today, 2/11 sunday, will see what happens. Will update when receive. All in all not altogether bad experience. One item is very nice, the other regardless of damaged parts is nice too. Customer service was show but nice. Damage to the parts is dissapointing."
