"First, know what you are doing. As the name "Eastporters" implies, they import projectors from the far east (Japan). So do your research on the product you are buying as some brands of projectors do not include english menus. Suprisingly, the Mitsubishi HC3100 I received had both the buttons and remote labeled in English. The firmware menus were easily changed over to English, as was indicated in the english version of the manual I checked before purchasing. As long as you know and accept that you are getting a projector imported from Japan, there will be no suprises.

I ordered a Mitsubishi HC3100 the evening of 4 Dec 2006 and received 8 days later on 12 Dec 2006. According to the store, the projector had to be ordered, although their website showed it as "In Stock" Post-purchase support could be better in the form of E-mail notifications of any delays, and a notification when the item has shipped. Also note that even after your projector ships, the online invoice status will never change from "Processed" to "Shipped".

With one very, very minor exception, the projector works perfectly. (small speck of dust apparently on the inside end of the lens - only noticeable on pure black scenes on the lower portion of the screen, and even then just barely). And so no experience dealing with the 15-day all defect guarantee, and no experience with having to go through them for warranty work.

For some reason on orders over a certain dollar amount, you have to pay through PayPal instead of with a credit card. This could make some people leary since wire transfers through PayPal don't offer you the same protection as you would get if you ordered with a credit card."

"I purchased an 92" EluneVision High Definition Cinema Grey Fixed Frame Screen from Eastporters. I am very happy with the product and the service. The screen was delivered promptly by courier and was not damaged in shipment. For the price an excellent product, and I took only a hour to mount it."

"I 'web' shopped extensively and created a short list (3) of projectors. Was very pleased to see that Eastporters supplied all 3 at very competitive prices. Adding the Elunevision screen (manual) to the deal was a no-brainer and we have had many hours of movies since. No problems with either the Hitachi projector or screen, and Eastporters has been very responsive to questions."

"I ordered a bulb from this store, I paid about 1/2 what my local dealers wanted, and received it a few days later. I will definitely order again."

"I purchased a 92" electric screen.

Pros...

Communication was very good.
They were very accomadating by letting me pick up item on short notice-weeknight.
Screen was very well packed and product seems to be very good value for price paid.

Cons....

Was not pleased with "suprise" $25 pick up charge, (Should be clearly marked on web site)
12V Battery for remote control was dead.
(A bit of an odd size...as used in garage door openers). Approx cost $7

Over-all pleased with product and service and will tell others!

"I purchased the Epson TW600 with ceiling mount and cable about 2 months ago. So far I'm very happy with the purchase. The PJ was exactly as described and easily the best price around. Dave was very helpful throughout the sale, as I asked several questions. Never at any point did he try to push the sale, in fact he told me to take more time if I was unsure.(definitely not something you're likely to hear from most retailers)

Excellent product and a great seller!!!"

"I bought a ceiling mount and 106" screen from eastporters about 1.5 weeks ago. I found them reasonably easy to deal with over e-mail, and also spoke to Dave twice on the phone. They answered my questions, and were upfront with all replies via e-mail.

Contrary to the comments made by myriad007, I think he/she did not look closely at the website. I recently purchased the PT-AX100 from a local seller, and was seriously consodering getting it from eastporters. The only reason I did not, was the Japanese menus. The Japanese menu disclaimer has been listed on their site from day one, as I have been looking at this projector since it was introduced.

Now, to myriad007's credit, I did not know that the remote control was in Japanses, and think they may have just added that to the site in the last 24hrs, as I check that site daily. That, in fairness, should have been disclosed in detail long before now.

I was not happy with my ceiling mount, contacted eastrporters, and they had no problem taking it back for a full refund....it was not installed, or removed entirely from the packaging.

So far, my screen appears to be find, but util I actually get my projector ceiling mounted, I will not know 100%. They have a 30 day 100% money back guarantee (including return shipping) on screens, so I am satisfied that they will honour that if I have any issues.

Their prices are fantastic for a Canadian reseller, and I would recomend them to anyone, as long as they understand what they are getting, and are aware of any compromise they are making....for most, the price will offset this compromise."

"Awesome prices. Very friendly and up-front. Flexible pick-up times (to save even more from s&h).

I'm the kind of guy who researches a purchase and don't appreciate salespeople who are trying to push their own gear. Eastporters was perfect - they had what I wanted (a few choices in fact) at awesome prices. I will definately be dealing with them again when I upgrade in a few years."

"****STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS - AND CAREFULLY READ THE FINE PRINT ON THEIR WEBSITE!!!

I purchased a Panasonic PT-AX100 on the 9th of October and received it a few days later. When I looked in the package I discovered to my dismay that it was a Japanese model, and I mean a truly Japanese model with Japanese remote, Japanese On Screen Display, Manual, etc. When I called Eastporters to ask them why they had sent me a Japanese model they told me that they only sell stuff from Japan, with Japanese warranty etc. So if it breaks down you have to ship it BACK TO JAPAN to get it repaired etc. When I told them that I wanted an English OSD they said it was clearly labelled on the website as a Japanese only OSD projector (it was'nt when I added it to my cart), so I went back to double check and lo and behold, the website had been updated and clearly stated, 'no englsh OSD', in big green letters beside the item (hmmm). When I asked the Eastporters guy when they put the disclaimer up he said it had been there all the time (!), whatever.

Anyway to make a long story short, I asked for a refund and was told they would deduct 15% (later reduced to %10 when I bitched about it) because the product was now no longer in 'saleable' condition even though the product was never even taken out of the carton!

I returned it at my cost and waited 3 agonizing weeks to see if I would get my money back from these scam artists!! Yesterday they refunded me $1,974.10 (October 31, 2006) less $220 for 'Re-stocking'.

I have been purchasing items on-line for years, but this is the first time I have ever been burned. I am thinking of starting a website: eastporterssucks.com to collect other stories from people who have been scammed by these guys.

TAKE MY ADVICE AND BUY SOMEWHERE ELSE!"

"I just bought a Panasonic AX100 projector with a 106' screen and a ceiling mount. After installing them at home, me and my family started enjoying this amazing cinema experience. We practically watch movies every day. Their prices are the best I have ever seen. but I was cautious, so prior to placing an order with Eastporters, I called them a few times and also sent a email to ask for clarification about the shipping mehtod, payment methods, warranty, user instruction, difference between Japaness version & American version etc. Each time I was given detailed explanation, which helped me decide. overall, I am quite satisfied with the experience and the products. I'd like to do business again with them."

"I have been doing research on the Internet for my projector for a couple of days and finally located several possible models, such as Hitachi HDPJ52, Panasonic AE900 and also Epson PowerLite Cinema 800. I came across Eastporters in a forum and heard it has great prices. I went there immediately and found that it's actually a Canadian vendor and amazingly located in Hamilton, which is just 40 minutes away from where I live. All prices, including cables, screens and mounts, are definitely unbeatable in North America. Its "shipback" options also help to make my final purchase decision. I finally chose Epson PowerLite Cinema 800 because of its better Lumens, among other things. I will drive there to pick up just to save half of my shipping cost.

I'm feeling so excited and can't wait to setup and see everything in action!

Thanks Eastporters for such a wonderful cost-saving effort and service that are well done for us consumers. I'll recommend it to all my friends.
