"My encounter with Canada Computers was the most awful, frustrating experience in customer service. Their prices are good and that cannot be denied-but the lack of service is NOT WORTH IT. They ruined my gift to my husband this Christmas. I could bore you with details if necessary, but I genuinely warn you NOT to buy anything from them. It's disgusting that a company this poorly managed actually exists. I hope that no one has the poor experience that I did. Congratulations to those who have purchased without difficulty- but it really is a roll of the dice."
"My experiences with this retailer have been excellent, bought many products and returned anything thing defective or not used with no problem at all.
Many of the complaints on this site are just negative and don't point out anything positive about the retailer.
Most of the problems seem to come from someone that is not knowledgeable at all in retailers and don't seem very knowledgeable in computers to begin with. Think before you write a review, the company has a total of what 10 stores to date. They focus on retail and having the best price which they are great at doing. Having a type of online service is good for them, but is definitely not their strongpoint as a warehouse like NCIX focuses on mainly their online store because they don't have any other way of selling.
People seem to complain about their return policy and how frustrated they are with it. Again how big is the company compared to Best Buy, NCIX, tigerdirect.etc? Can you really expect them to replace things on the fly like money means nothing to them either? They have the cheapest price, which makes it so they have less margins. Therefore they can't have customers returning products for stupid reasons, that and without packaging or because they are just not knowledgeable about the products they purchase or how to install them. If you want the GREAT return policies and no hassle at all go pay the $20-$100 more at other retailers, becuase they are making enough money off you, they can just buy another one anyways. You pay for the return policy is how I see it. That and having been a manager of a similar store, I know the problems they have to deal with.
They are busy, so deal with it and wait. They don't have time to sit around and listen to you talk about what you might want, know your products, do the research and go buy what you want. Actually the funniest part of that is I see customers asking to test/see the product, think about it, if they open a product and then you don't want it, you just wasted their time as they don't have a lot of staff(to keep overhead down) PLUS they now have a open box item, which I see many complaints about this as well. It's simple, buy it, test it when you get home, if it doesn't work, bring it back and get another one, your cash back or something else. I have never had any problems doing this since they opened over 4 years ago. If the product dies after the 30 day exchange then contact the manufacturer. If you don't want to do this then go somewhere else. If you want a quick RMA..which is nearly impossible through the manufacturer except for HD's, then by all means go somewhere else where they have the money to just give you another one while they sit and wait for a replacement for the next 4 weeks. RMA's through the manufacturer and shipping it(as in not going into the manufacturer's place of business)takes 2-6 weeks. I wish some people were more knowledgeable in computers or have to deal with computer retailers problems which customers usually create.
I am sorry for the long comment, but some of the complaints on here are just absurd, and the company deserves a lot better recognition than what the people on here give it. I am sure if more people knew about this site, other than complainers, than the reviews about the store would be much better. Although most people focus on the negative aspects anyways. "
" Don't buy from them...I've ordered a pair of Corsair memory ram since June 15th and I've never received anything on July 1st.So I decided to cancel my order since I've got the Memory to another reseller. Now,it's been over a month,I ask to be refund on my credit card and they're holding(stealing) my money. They're always said that it was their mistake, they'll adjust it soon...Yesterday,they told me that the package has been sent after the order cancellation.I've never received anything.I've also check for any delivery confirmation and it doesn't exist.Up to date,I've lost $400.00 bucks. It's a shame that Corsair Memory recommends them as online retailer for their products...
Stay away from them if you don't want to lose your time and MONEY.I'd rather recommends Tigerdirect or Ncix for a real better customer service."
"My advice is to stay away from this store altogether. My son was building a new gaming machine and as this store did not accept paypal [which is all I use] my son went to his friends father and had him place the order using his credit card. The online order form would not accept the credit card, it kept coming up with an error and so they cancelled the order and went elsewhere and had the parts within a week. This order was close to $1600.00. Now this man is being hounded constantly to pay for an order that he cancelled and never received. They dinged his credit card and he now has interest to pay on top of this. What I do not understand is how can they charge someones credit card for items they did not send out? From what I understand they should not be charging anything untill it is shipped. I highly recommend Nxxx for computer supplies, they have great prices and excellent customer service. I just built myself a new PC and received a damaged motherboard, RMA'd it and received another one within three days. "
"I have ordered several Items from Can Comp and am building an amd 4.2 x2 64bit system from the ground up. The only part purchased elsewhere was the cpu. So far the antec vento case, Antec TPII 550w PCI-E ps, DFI UT NF4 SLI DR MB, Kingwin 3000 Water Cooler, and everything else I have ordered has arrived to me here in NB in 2 days, the service has been beyond excellent and they went out of their way to put the black vento on the website in 24hours just so I could buy it. Maybe I am getting good treatment for buying good product... I dunno, my rating for them so far is 10 out of 10 for everything and will continue to purchase from them until circumstances dictate otherwise. Over 2000 in parts so far and going strong. Keep up the good work."
Placed my order for a new HD and drive enclosure on the 27th of june, both items were showing in stock at time of order, both show up on my order confirmation as in stock. 5 days go by with no word or delivery. Call to find out whats up. Am told that itmes are not instock, they are on back order, but because of the high turnaround(shippments everyday) that they are shown instock because they expect them to arrive an an almost daily basis. 5 more days go by, call again itme are still not in stock, told late next week at the earliest??? wait a minute... all their walk in locations have them in stock, I even called every retail location to ask... so why cant i get my Hard drive?. Cancled order, waiting for the refund, then i will drive the 2 hours to the store and pick up my drive.
I have been a cutomer of CC for a long time, but now that i live out in the middle of nowhere i cant always get there, so when they launched their mailorder service I was excited, they have a huge selection and very good prices.
However their online service is pathetic, no e-amils were sent to me updateing me on my items and i can only assume that if i had left this unchecked and my items were on back order for months I would never have been informed. :("
"Canada Computers is the most competitively priced computer store that I have found in Mississauga. However, they have horrible customer service, policies, and practises.
My only perfect experience with Canada Computers has been from buying a Soundblaster Audigy sound card and Logitech X-230 speakers. Now, onto my horrible experiences in a chronological order:
1. I bought a Radeon 9550. Problems everywhere. Black screen on start-up. The packaging/product had evident signs of it being re-sealed, yet it was resold as new. I tried to exchange/refund, but they refused to without a 15% charge since they said it had a chip on it, WHICH WAS ALREADY ON THE CARD. Anyways, 15% charge later, I returned it.
2. Couple of months later, tried them again by buying what I thought was a Radeon 9600 Pro. The salesman and product list they post in their store listed the product as a Radeon 9600 Pro. I installed it and it was working fine. However, I noticed that the performance was sub-par of a Radeno 9600 Pro. Finally, I checked the model number on the box with the model number for a 9600 Pro on the manufacturer's website and I realized that they actually sold me a Radeon 9600 Pro EZ Edition, which is actually an under-clocked, slower version of what I wanted! Wanted a refund, but no dice again. I am stuck with this thing now.
3. Bought a motherboard. Had signs of opened packaging. Installed and wouldn't POST. Had to go through hell in order to get an exchange. Finally got my exchange 3 days of frustration later and I got it to work.
Buying from Canada Computers is a real lottery. The only reason to buy from them is the price, but if you take into account of the time you waste and the 15% charge to refund their large amount of faulty products, it would more worthwhile to buy from a respectable, but more expensive store.
Also, a note, their customer service is horrible at the store in Mavis Mall in Mississauga. They are rude and will go out of their way to lie to you about how a computer works in order for you to keep a faulty product. Be warned.
One last point is that I personally witnessed one of their salesman put a video card which I returned right back for re-sale after he checked for missing parts. He did this even though I had claimed that the video card was faulty."

"Bought some parts from this store...one of several transactions i've done with them. Installed the motherboard and it wouldn't post. Took the system in to them to get the motherboard replaced and they said they wouldn't do it. Argued with them for awhile since i just bought the stuff 6 days ago and it doesn't work. Now i'm stuck with having to buy another motherboard...
Don't shop here! If you buy a part and it doesn't work - tough luck for you is what they basically say. Will NEVER buy a single item from them again!"
"Not very happy! Waited over 1.5 months with no results...just excuses. I'm sure this outfit is OK on the retail front, but beware on mail-order! Pricing is very good but in-stocks poor. Ability to get required goods poor. Sorry, but the truth must be told!"
