"First thing: DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!! Conduct searches on Google and you'll find hundreds of people that have been defrauded!!!

On August 18, 2004 I ordered two games from Buy-Rite. On their website one game, cubivore was priced at 6.99 the other was a new copy of Halo for 14.99. I never received an email confirmation but a charge for 39.94 posted to my credit card immediately. I hadn't requested express shipping such as FedEx or UPS two day, so there was no explanation for the price. I tried emailing them four time for an answer and got no response. I called four times but the person that handle orders was always out that day, or had already gone home for the day (10:00 am their time).
I waited and didn't get a response or hear anything for two weeks. On Sept 2nd 2004, I began emailing (11 more) and calling again (7 more calls). As expected I received no replies to the emails, and the individuals at buy-rite always responded the same "He's out today", "He's gone for the day", "you have to email us", or "he's at lunch". I told the girl at buy rite that I was canceling the order and wanted a refund, I told the same to two men there on two subsequent phone calls. Just to make sure, I emailed this to them twice just to make sure. I also called my bank and initiated a charge-back and fraud complaint.
Interestingly, on the 14th of September I received an automated email from Buy-rite informing that they had mailed my games. I thought perhaps that the fraud complaint had succeeded. Today I received the package from buy-rite, opened it and noted that it only contained one of the games that I ordered (Halo). The game wasn't even new as advertised, The case was the type distributed by game rental chains, with "not for resale" printed on the cover. This gets worse, I opened the case and there was no disc in it!
I contacted my bank about the claim, it seems that this isn't an uncommon tactic among fraudsters. They count on most people no pursuing a complaint, simply getting aggravated and giving up. When someone does complain, the fraudster mails an empty or incomplete package with a tracking number. Once you accept the package they have proof of delivery, and you have to go through a lot more to get your money back. I'm not giving up, I've filed a complaint with their State's Attorney General's Office, The Better Business Bureau, and even their local TV News consumer advocate.

Protect yourself, avoid Buy-Rite video games!

"I ordered five items here, was quoted a $120 price. They would not ship to a non-billing address despite my only temporary inhabitance of my billing address. Then, they cancelled three of my items without telling me, charged me $9 for shipping in a free USPS envelope at a $5 flat rate. My "New" items came without factory sealings, and were in no way protected by anything but a loosely sealed flimsy cardboard. They did not respond to me except for a week after when i asked why i wasn't being billed $120, and only $54, they then replied with a single sentence saying the items were cancelled.
Horrible service, horrible pricing schemes, horrible, horrible, horrible."

"I got my buyrite package today (which was decently quick, 4 days), it somewhat suprised me because of how horrible i had heard shipping was - i had written out the number for them on a post it, and stuck it to my mouse pad a couple days back in preperation to call them if the shipping took the expected forever
I ordered 4 items, Doshin the giant (jpn gc), Zelda Ocarina of time/ masterquest (jpn gc), Biohazard zero trial with special ID card (jpn gc), and a Sega Saturn import cart.

anywho
I recieved 3 of 4 items ordered, buutttt
the zelda bonus disc is the US version... why would they send me the us if i ordered the jpn??... apparently that was the last copy they had in stock of anything zelda bonus disc related and they assumed i wanted the zelda disc in general even though i already have it.. no thanks

The biohazard demo came in a nice broken package with no bonus ID card - it was obviously used.. and somewhat dirty. None of this was stated on their website
I called customer service and had a chat with them (for anyone interested, you have to pretend your buying something to actually get ahold of a real person) the lady said they would send me out the id card.. but still... grr

and the saturn cart i have no qualms with

i feel my 11.95 of shipping was a total waste as well, because it was jacked up due to the cost of another item which i didnt recieve.

i'll never do business with them again, i can tell you that - regardless of how enticing it might be"

"I ordered from Buy Rite, because the prices looked good and they had a lot of hard to find NES games. Hard to find is right, because as it turns out buy rite NEVER HAD THEM IN STOCK. I bought a PS2 game and 3 NES games, the PS2 game came in around 10 days after I ordred. Luckily I was only charged for the PS2 game, but I was NEVER told my NES games were cancelled. I emailed them asking where my NES games were and they told me they had been cancelled because they were not in stock. So why are they even on the website?? "

"For a long time, I've had Buyrite Videogames' website bookmarked. Knowing that they'd been around for quite a while, I figured that they were a reputable company, and had no reason to go look on the web for reviews of the company. Sadly, I was mistaken.

I tried to order R-Type Delta for the PSone back on 1/27/2004. Buyrite subsequently charged my credit card on 1/28/2004 for the amount of $26.94. I waited for about a week and a half, thinking I would receive some sort of notification that my product shipped, or at least a notification from them of the status of my order, since they charged my card.

On 2/16/04, I decided to call them to see what's going on with my order (I had still received no respones from them of any kind). I was told that they were out of stock on this item, and that they had to special order it, and this was the reason why it has taken so long. The man then told me that they had received the item, and it would be shipping out tomorrow 2/17/2004. After another week of not hearing any responses, I called them once again to check on my order. I was then told by "Danielle" that they were not able to get that item, and that her manager told her that I would be refunded. At this point I was upset, because I was previously told that they did have it, and that it would ship soon. Did the man I had spoken to previously lie to me? It's a shame I didn't catch his name.

On 3/19/2004 I was sent an email saying:

"unfortuantely we did not have R-Type Delta for the PS, so we sent your order to the accounting department.
Your refund has been received and has been done. Sorry for any delay , but we had a Computer issue on our end .
Please look in the mail in the next few days or check your next credit card statement .
Thanks,
BuyRite Video Games"

I figured I would receive my refund promptly...
However, a whole month had gone by, and I had yet to receive any sort of refund. I called on 4/7/2004 and spoke to Danielle again. She assured me that the refund was issued, and that it had been taken care of. I insisted that it had not, so she said she would speak to the accounting department, and resubmit the refund to them.

It is now 4/25/2004 and I have still not received my refund from them. I will be calling them tomorrow (4/26/2004) again to find out what is going on. I am extremely dissatisfied and upset with this company, to say the very least.

"Well I purchase a GBA game in 02, brought from Buyrite beacuse of their low price. The quoted shipping time was 24-48 hours. I also payed for express shipping to Canada, which costed $20 (us). Expected it to come in about a week, instead it took 3 weeks for my order to ship. And this is with me calling them everyday, I'm pretty sure if I didn't call them constantly, I would have never recieved my game.

I know that I ordered from them in 2002, but as you see I still remember the horrible account clearly. So a word of advice go to NCSX, it costs more but atleast you get your order in time
and without the hassel."

"I ordered $105.91 worth of games on 11-09-03 and within 3 days, $41.93 was taken out of my account. I never received conformation of my order via email. When i emailed them in late November, letting them know what happened, they never responded to that either. That was over about 2-3 weeks ago and I have yet to hear from them concerning anything about my order or money. I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau if this matter is not resolved soon. Never under any circumstances order from this company, Buy Rite games. Especially when concerning "classic games." Their idea of customer service is a joke. DO NOT BUY ATARI, NINTENDO, SUPER NINTENDO, SEGA, NEO GEO, PLAYSTATION, XBOX, OR ANY OTHER SYSTEM'S GAMES OR ACCESSORIES FROM BUY RITE GAMES. They are notorious for taking your money and not sending you what you paid for. This is why on a scale of one to ten, their lifetime consumer rating fails to score a one. And it fails that mark by a long shot. Retro games or new games, do not buy your video games from this company. I hope this review helps others avoid getting caught in the same situation I am in.

Since I posted this review, I contacted the company. The lady told me that 2 of the 4 items i ordered were out of stock (if the other 2 were in stock why have i not received them over 2 months later). Anyway, she told me the other 2 would arrive any day. I reminded her a common complaint with her company is that they say products will be there any day and they don't show up. I told her i wanted to make sure this wouldn't happen with me. She said she could only tell me what is right there in front of her (first of all it wouldn't say that I would get the products any day right there in front of her, it would only say if they shipped out or when they shipped out). Then i asked her if i could get my money back if they didn't come. She told me yes. Anyway, 2 and 1/2 weeks later i get a shipment conformation from gamebuyer, who I never ordered from but the email looked similar to Buy-Rite's and I assumed it was them. 3 weeks later (which i guess translates to "any day" if you're speaking in Buy-Rite), my package finally arrived. Woohoo...unfortunately, none of the stuff they sent me works. So, I called the number they gave in case you receive defective product...which would be nice if it gave you an option that had anything to do with defective product or at least an otion to talk to someone. I know I could pursue this further but it is worth losing 40 bucks to never have to deal with this company again. "

"Take it from another innocent buyer, check customer reviews before buying. I purchased a limited edition Final Fantasy X-2 memory card for the PS2 from Buy-"Rite" Video Games, but recieved no confirmation. Three days later, I was lucky enough that my credit card account had not been charged. I e-mailed them, but going by what others are saying, I don't even expect a reply. As a last word (and i wish i had noticed earlier): check the VeriSign Secure Site logo at the bottom. According to the pop-up window, their VeriSign account, or seal of validity, or whatever it is has expired (in early April of 2003)."

"This is by far the worst internet seller ever. They charge your credit card before sending it, which is illegal, never send a confirmation email, if you write them an email they never respond back. And if you are LUCKY, you MIGHT get what you recieved, without a "sorry it was late" or anything. I dont see how they are still in business. They have great products, but a lot of people that don't give a rat's butt about their customers and that's very sad."

"Yes, I made the mistake of ordering a game from this company. I paid $107 for an import game and overnight shipping. What a joke. After several phone calls they could not provide me with a tracking number and would just keep hanging up on me. The only quick thing was the speed at which they billed my credit card. I'm obviously disputing the charges, but how in the world can this company still be in business!?
Yes they are thiefs. If you order you will not recieve your product. "
