"Ordered a Canon SLR camera last night, and I've already received one e-mail with about "coupons" AND a sales call, trying to sell me a "better" battery, extended warranty, expedited shipping, etc. The salesperson was polite enough, but he sounded like a robot going through the motions, and he nothing of real substance to say.I will update this review appropriately when my purchase arrives in a timely fashion and in working condition (let's hope), but I have to say that so far, I'm not impressed with the pushy sales behavior. While some customers might appreciate the extra offers, I find it unprofessional and annoying. If I wanted all that extra stuff, I'd inquire about it myself. I buy online to AVOID salespeople, and now they're calling me at home! I have a sneaking suspicion this is going to be a hassle. Please prove me wrong, ButterFly!OK - now to update the review. The camera arrived as described - new in box, etc. It works perfectly. Shipping took a full week, which was expected (I'm in WA, camera was shipped from NJ). After the initial sales call/e-mail, I wasn't bothered by ButterFly again. So, I'm relieved that my experience was a good one. I still think the sales call was lame, but that's my only final complaint. Otherwise, this was a good transaction.."
"I have never written a bad review ever. But buying from Butterfly Photo has got to be the worst experience I have ever had. I would suggest you not do it unless you have the patience to wait as long as it takes for your order to arrive, if it even arrives at all that is.I placed an order for a camera on Monday and paid extra for 2 day express shipping because the camera is for someone who is going out of the country permenantly on Friday. When I decided to check on Wednesday whether my order has shipped (it was promised to arrive on Thursday) there was no confirmation that it has been shipped and my debit card had not been charged. This is when I thought maybe something had gone wrong with the billing information since I only moved recently. So just to make sure, I called them. There was a shipping/billing error, however, I immediately asked billing department whether they can sort it out and still have the camera arrive by Friday. I told them that if it is not possible then I would like to cancel the order since the camera would be no use to me afterwards. The person I spoke to assured me it would arrive on Friday. Immediately afterwards, my card was charged for the full price of the camera.Friday came, and NO CAMERA. But what did came was a confirmation email saying that the camera has been processed and JUST picked up by Fedex and it will arrive next Tuesday. I'm not sure if Fedex works on weekends, but promising 2 day expedite shipping usually means any day of the week, not just business days. And usually it includes processing time too. If I wanted to wait 6 days for my order to arrive I would have just ordered free shipping. Even a normal free shipping from Amazon only takes 3 business days for me. I tried calling on Friday immediately to cancel my order. But their customer service is closed, at 2pm Eastern Time. I live on the West Coast, that's 11am here, before Fedex even makes their daily deliveries. After that, I continuously tried to call their customer service, but I only get either they are closed (when it should be hours before they are closed) or they are busy and put me on hold indefinitely then abruptly hangs up on me.What makes me the most upset isn't that their customer service close hours before they are suppose to, or that there is no communication if there is a problem with your order, or even that they put me on hold for 15 minutes then hangs up on me. It's the fact that they lied to me just so I wouldn't cancel a order. If they told me that I needed to add more money to have it shipped by Friday, I probably would have done it. BUT, they just lied and told me it would be there, but instead didn't even bother shipping it until Friday. Now I have a camera that I don't need because the person it's for has now left the country, AND I paid extra for 2 days shipping but instead received it a full week later."
"Paid extra for 3-5 day shipping (9.95) and after 2 days processing it shipped with UPS showing a 9 day transit. Customer service said that would be bussiness days which is not what the site said. Very deceiving and a lot of money to pay extra for what appears to be normal shipping."
"After ordering a new, US d90...a import model was shipped. After calling them, the informed me the could give me a extended warranty for free as well as the US charger instead. No thanks!After shipping back the camera (which they handled very nicely....they have ignored all other calls and emails about sending the replacement). So what are my options? I will be reaching out to their local AG, cancel the purchase with Amex (I love their friendly customer server!), and contact my brother-in-law at a worldwide tech review site where he is the sr. editor. This has been a horrible experience. Spend $25 and go with a different company. (this review will change if they rectify the situation....but I doubt they will) "
" I too ignored the negative reviews on this website thinking my experience would be different. On May 28, 2010 I ordered the Canon Vixia HF S21 from Butterfly Photo. Although they had gotten some poor reviews on this site, they had the cheapest price--$1239.99 and their website showed that the camera would ship in 1 to 2 days. Nevertheless, I called and left a message asking to please forward any promotion details by email. I never heard back. About 2 weeks later, I called to check on the status of my order. In the meantime, the price of the camera went up to about $1259.99. It is now $1269.95. When I asked about the status of my order I was told that they would receive the HF S21 model in the next day or two and because of the delay they would ship it to me using "next day" at no extra charge. At the very latest, I would receive it on Monday. Of course, it did not come on Monday. Tuesday, I called again. And again, I was told that they would get the camera in a day or two and ship it right out. This time, I told them that I needed the camera for an event on Friday. They took note of it. Not having heard from them, I called again on Wednesday. This time, I spoke with Sammy. The status was still the same--in 1 or 2 days they would receive the camera. I let him know that I needed it by Friday and that if they couldn't deliver it by then they should cancel the order. I also indicated that it had been pending for 3 weeks without any updates from them. He did not seem bothered by this at all and said he would cancel the order if they weren't able to get the camera to me by Friday and would send me a cancellation confirmation. Of course, the camera was not sent nor did I receive any notice of cancellation. Oh, and the website still shows that the camera is in stock. Never again."

There was a run on the particular color of the product and they are expediting my order to compensate for the delay."
"I purchased a Canon PowerShot A1100 on May 17th. After getting an email with my confirmation # I never heard from this company again. On the 30th of May I sent them an email and did not get any answer. On the 6th of June I called and spoke with Sammy. He said that the camera I had ordered was not available. He offered me two others but, I didn't want them. Mainly because the price was higher than I could buy it elsewhere. I asked if they would meet the other sellers price and he said no. I then asked for my money to be credited back to PayPal. Sammy said they would do that and send me an email stating that the transaction had been done. Since then I have not heard anything from them nor have I seen a credit returned back to PayPal. What a lousy way of doing business. Think of the money they are making by holding our money for an extended amount of time. Like others before me have stated "WATCH OUT! This company is very bad news. "
"To begin with, I chose Butterfly Photo largely due to price and positive feedback that I read from former customers. One of the factors that led me to choose Butterfly was the “free shipping.” After ordering, however, I was contacted and notified that with free shipping, the dishwasher would be delivered between 8:00 and 5:00 on a date to be determined by the shipping company, and that I needed to be at home all day, since they could come at any time, and I would not be able to arrange a time with the shipper. Since this was unacceptable to me, I upgraded to a shipping method that would, according to the salesperson who called me after the sale, allow me to set up a date and time with the shipping company. This cost an additional $40, and I realized at that time that I was dealing with a company that was using a “bait and switch” strategy to bolster sales, and that I had been duped. Before the dishwasher was to be delivered, the shipping company called to verify the shipping address, and had somehow been directed to deliver to my billing address, which was slightly different. This created a delay in delivery due to the fact that they said I had to contact Butterfly photo, and that Butterfly would then have to contact them before the dishwasher could be delivered. When the dishwasher was finally to be delivered, I was told it would be delivered between 8:00 and noon, and that I would need to be at home during that time in order to accept the delivery. I told them that didn’t work for me, as I could not get home from work until 2:30 at the earliest. The scheduler said she would have to call me back to see if it could be delivered in the afternoon. She called back later and said it would be delivered between noon and 4:00, but could not specify any specific time. Note that I had been told by the salesperson who that the $40 upgrade in shipping cost meant that I could set an actual appointment with the shipper. I arranged for my wife to be home in the afternoon, and asked that they call her to give her a time, when they had an idea when it would arrive. They called her that afternoon and told her it would arrive at 3:00, so I arranged to be home by 2:45 to check the product and move it upstairs. When I arrived, the dishwasher had already been delivered (at about 2:30). My wife told me it had been delivered by one guy with a van, who did not have a hand truck, and had to unload the dishwasher on his own, then carry it by hand up to the entry door (about 6 steps). I arranged with a neighbor to help me take it up the stairs (I live on the 2nd floor), using a hand truck, and paid him $20 for his help. When I unpacked the unit, I found it was damaged. It looked as though it had been dropped at some point on the left front corner. I notified Butterfly Photo and was asked to take pictures of the damage and email them, and that then, a replacement could be sent. I did so, and was pleased that Butterfly did not dispute my claim and said that a new dishwasher would be sent, and the damaged one would be picked up. Again, the wrong address was given and had to be corrected. The new dishwasher was eventually shipped, and was delivered by a much more professional shipping company. The delivery people brought the dishwasher up the stairs and unpacked it, and it was in good condition. I was pleasantly surprised, as I had only paid for threshold delivery. However, they did not pick up the other dishwasher, which remained with us for another 3 weeks despite reminders to Butterfly to remove it. When someone finally arrived to get it, it was again one person, who carried it down our stairs (knocking a potted plant off the window sill along the way) and loaded it into a van. My original order was sent on March 21st, and I had to deal with issues with this transaction until May 17th. So, overall, I was not pleased with Butterfly Photo and don’t plan on doing business with them in the future. "
"I didnt like that way they handle their business. I have received an email from the Butterfly team after the day I ordered saying they need to verify something. I tried to call back and they asked me to have the shipping address added to my credit card account. Do you know this "Shipping address" getting added to bank account??? I tried to reach my bank/card I used, they said, at a time we can have only one address added to account, which makes sense and which is correct. Now, again I called back to them and they still say the same, that shipping address should match the card address, which is non-sense. I have seen Billing address to be matched, but shipping ..no way...This means, you can order any gifts from this site to any other address you want...Leaving the address issue aside, consider the order status. Till now, the order is not shipped..."

"DON'T waste the money on quicker shipping. Ordered product on Friday, recieved a call on Sunday from a sales person attempting to sell me extended warranty and upgraded shipping. Given the "deal" of 1/2 off expidited shipping (4-6 bussiness days) I took the bait. What they don't tell you is it will still take 2 to 3 days to process the order, which doesn't count against them for shipping. I understand the bussiness day counting so I expected to recieve the item on May 24th, the 6th bussiness day since my order, not counting the Friday I ordered it. However, when I called on the 24th wondering where the product was I was told it was only the 4th bussiness day according to thier calculations. Anyways, the product may be great and the price may be good but don't get suckered into paying extra for quicker shipping as it may still take longer than expected."

"I ordered a Nikon D90 kit from Butterfly Photo and I couldn't be happier with the service or price. I read some of the other comments about them holding orders until they make a sales call, which could be true - but I gotta say, the sales rep called me and I ended up adding a warantee and some lens filters at a price I couldn't refuse... so I'm glad he called. I got an awesome deal and paid much less than anywhere else I could find online or in retail. Shipping was also much faster than the sales rep said - I got my camera in 2 days vs the 5 days he said on the phone. In summary, I'm super happy with my camera and the service provided by the sales rep and Butterfly Photo."
