"Wonderful company.. one of the cheapest prices for my pink canon sd1300. The order was processed and my product was shipped in record timing. I highly recommend this site to anyone!!!"
"Please be careful when using PayPal with Butterfly. I originally placed my order with Pay Pal but cancelled that order and re-ordered with a credit card. Butterfly charged both accounts but only shipped one item. I needed to notify Pay Pal of the problem and it took some time to get fixed. I will think twice when shopping at Butterfly. Wish I had read the reviews before I placed my order."
"I ordered my Sony HDR-CX100 camcorder on April 16th. Since this model was out of stock, associate from Butterfly called me and offered CX110 model. I got it at a lower price too. I received the camcorder on April 19th. Great service , shipping and product too. I would like to use Butterfly for my next purchase too. I got the lowest price, bing cashback and a satisfying experience.S"
"BUYER BEWARE!! The worst online buying experience ever. I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing from Butterfly Photo. My story follows the same pattern as everyone else's. I purchased a Logitech RF remote on 4/11/10 that was listed as "in stock". Two weeks later, I still hadn't received it. When I called to find out my order status I was told it would be available in about 7 business days. On 4/25, I cancelled my order and as of 5/7 still have not received my refund despite their reassurances that my credit card would be refunded within 24-48hrs. I have now had to resort to opening a dispute with PayPal and my credit card company. These guys are a bunch of low life SCAMMERS!!"
"Online purchase of a Samsung HDTV was extremely smooth and price was very good. Follow up on the order was excellent and the TV came much sooner than I anticipate. This would be a 5 star experience."
"i ordered a camera on butterflyphoto.com on 4/26/2010. the website showed the item in stock, with free 7-10 day shipping. i immediately received an order confirmation. after not receiving a shipment confirmation, i called on 5/3/2010 and was told the camera would ship "tomorrow". i called again 5/4/2010 and was told i would receive a confirmation in 24-48 hours. i called again on 5/5/2010 and was told that the camera would be delayed another 7 days due to a problem with the manufacturer. since their website still shows the camera in stock, and plenty of other merchants have the camera in stock, including in store, i can only assume that means butterflyphoto has kindly returned only MY camera to the manufacturer for a defect. i cancelled my order. these guys are dishonest and sucky."
"How times have changed. I purchased from them a few years ago and had no issues. They are Cnet and BBB certified, but now a bit shady. I called to verify my Sony Camcorder was "in-stock" before ordering. I spoke with Steve and I was put on hold so he could verify. A minute later he told me it was "in-stock" and would ship out in 1-2 days. I even paid for an upgrade to receive in 3-5 days. He did try to sell some acessories, but I declined as I already have them for my other Sony camcoder and they are interchanable. Well I called today, as I haven't received my tracking number, and guess what? It's on backorder! I was told "we had 1-2 "in-stock" when you called", but they were damaged and unshippable". "We are getting our next order in, in 3-5 days". Funny how that's the same line those other bogus online scam companies do it! Because I have used Butterfly Photo before without issue, I didn't check up on them here like I should have. I was told by Lauren today that they would send it second day air next week, when thier shipment arrives. We shall see??? As of now it looks like these guys are no longer reputable and I would't reccommned them. If they come through, I will update. If they don't I will also report back, and additionally I will file complaints with the BBB, Cnet, Procegrabber, NY/NJ dept of commerce, and anyone else I can find. I read some of these other reviews and I suggest we all do this so they change their practices! Update: 4/30/10The backordered camcorder arrived early this week and they did second day air ship it to me and I received it today. The box was sealed and everything seems to be legitimate. It's too bad that they just aren't up front with us and tell us the truth. We don't order the product until you order it from us, and it takes a few days for us to ship it to you. If they did this, they would maintain a higher customer approval rating. All things considered, I would order again from them...just let them know up front my last experience."
"Ordered Mon, March 29, 2010 3:14:30 PM, Order Confirmation (BEW10165713) from BuyersEdge.com, 3/29/2010, invoiced as 709-205 Sigma 28-135mm f/3.8-5.6 Aspherical IF Macro Lens for Konica Minolta SLR Camera, $122.21 paid by PayPal. Received a Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 SLD for Minolta AFD lens on April 7, 2010. Called Buyer's Edge CS # and GOT LAUREN AT BUTTERFLY PHOTO. Told her I did not get the lens I ordered. Told her that in the Sigma box containing the lens were 2 invoices, one dated 3/29/2010, addressed to me in California, from "butterflyphoto.com", describing the lens I DID NOT order. The other invoice was addressed to John Khoury of Towson, MD, DATED DECEMBER 3, 2009 (Invoice #BY50548865) approved by BUYCOM, describing a SIG18- SIGMA 18-125mm f/3.5-5.6 DC AUTO FOCUS ZOOM $249.00. I told Butterfly's Lauren that I suspected that Mr Khoury had returned the lens (the box was well worn, no shrinkwrap), and the shipping clerk had made a mistake in sending a used item to me. She said that could not happen at Butterfly, and proceeded to check with her supervisor. Her supervisor came on the line and said he did not know how they could have made such a bad mistake. I could either return the lens at my expense, for a refund, or he would take an additional $20.00 off of my credit card and I could keep the lens. Since Amazon is selling that same lens (new) for double that final price, I decided to avoid a return hassle and keep the "wrong" lens, even though the lens I got is most likely not a new lens. In retrospect, I have let these meretricious reprobates at Buyer's Edge and ButterFly off far too easily. They are not to be trusted by anyone. I will NEVER buy anything again from the lying shills at Buyer's Edge nor the incompetents at ButterFly. Every one should use RESELLERRATINGS.com BEFORE they buy anything on the Internet. Avoid those bozos at all firstname.lastname@example.org"
"I can confirm what several others are saying here about Butterfly: They apparently stall shipment until they have had the chance to make a sales call where they try to sell extended warranties, accessories and other stuff.Ironically, I had posted a query to their website to ask why, after paying for "expedited shipping," my order still hadn't shipped four days later. Then I received a call from them which I (naively) initially took to be a quick response to my query. Alas, it was The Sales Call! And when I complained about the slow shipping, the salesman had the nerve to try to sell me a $50 overnight shipping option!I immediately considered canceling the order and getting the same camcorder from B&H, whose ETA was about 2 days for regular shipping. In the end, though, I stuck with Butterfly after their billing department assured me that I'd have a tracking number within 24 hours (I still don't have that either. so I probably should have canceled after all). So, my "expedited shipping" was a waste, since I have to travel (without the camcorder I needed for the trip). I will never buy anything of consequence from Butterfly again, either for personal use, or in my capacity as sometime purchaser for my 700-person organization."
"I placed an order for a TV on 9th Feb. I was phoned the next day being offered extra products and I express delivery. I decided that the express shipment was a good idea at an extra cost of $60 - apparently it was arranged with a local courier and I would get a 2 hour delivery window. 1 week later I had heard nothing. I phoned and they told me that they had located a defective TV in the warehouse and the delay was that it was being reshipped from another warehouse. Fair enough I thought - would have been nice to have been notified but never mind..., and waited. I checked in a couple of days later. They gave me a tracking number with UPS (so much for the "local courier" but I let that pass at that point). 2 days later, UPS still had no record of an item with the tracking number they gave me. I phoned again - they said there was sometimes a problem with UPS not scanning items out of the warehouse, but that the TV was on its way. Another 3 days, nothing - no record of item on UPS. I phoned BP again, they said they would put a claim in with UPS... It would take up to 10 days and they could do nothing until that was resolved. I asked them to ship me another unit in the meantime, and just recall the original shipment if they found it - or if they didn't find it then no harm done (although I strongly suspected and still do that this was an insurance scam on BP's part - they generated the shipping label, but never actually sent the TV). Anyway - no luck with that. I asked for a refund. No luck - have to wait. I asked for a refund for the express shipping at least and they said they would process it. After 2 weeks or so, with me calling regularly, they finally resolved the claim with UPS and were sending me another TV. My refund for express shipping still hadn't arrived. A week passed - with me calling regularly, being met with the usual rude and unhelpful phone reps - still no sign of shipment. I put a claim in with Paypal for a refund - the next day, I had notification of shipment! And by the end of that day, UPS had scanned it into their system. My TV arrived over a month after I ordered it. The express shipment refund took a further 2 weeks to come through.Rude, unhelpful staff: "there's nothing I can do. sorry". "It's with our TV buyer" - "Can I speak to him" - "no he doesn't take calls". "It's with the other warehouse" - "well can you call them, I'll hang on the line" - "no we can't contact them" etc... You get the picture. At best their staff are unhelpful, rude, robotic and obstructive. At worst I would suggest someone there used this case to scam the cost of a TV from UPS... but I speculate. Either way: don't bother with these guys! "
"I tried to buy there despite the reviews here. I placed an order for a TV on April 3. When I received my order confirmation email, I found out they were closed for Easter and would open up on April 7th and send out the orders then. (What business closes for the Monday and Tuesday after Easter?). On April 7th, they promptly billed my credit card. On April 9th, I called to check status because I had yet to receive a shipping notice. The customer service rep asked me to hold while they checked on my order and said it would ship out soon and they would send an email with the information. By April 13th, I still had not heard anything. I called back to find out they don't have that particular TV in stock and it is discontinued. I suggested they cancel my order and refund my money. When I asked why they had not notified me of this earlier all they could state is maybe they had a defective one returned to the warehouse that gave a false inventory. I would not recommend doing business with them.**Update** April 29th - They have not refunded the money/reversed my credit card charge. Once again I called and they said it would be done with 24 hours."
"I ordered a case and selected 2nd day delivery specifically since i needed that item urgent. they shipped it first class usps (5 days). After getting the shipping confirmation I contacting the customer service regarding the same, I got a reply there is nothing they can do ! what the f... ! never ever buy from butterflyphoto, order might not end up as requested and PAID for."
"The worst online shopping experience of my life. I simply ordered a camera and was hoping it would just arrive in the mail. I was charged 3 times, the camera still has not been shipped and any attempt to contact support has not been successful. Stay away from this retailer and don't make the same mistake I did, go with Amazon, buy.com or walmart.com, I never had an issue there. "
"Horrible experience. Bought a new 40" Samsung LED TV. Shipping was supposed to be free but the rep called and made us pay $30 so that they can "pack it better". We did that. The TV arrived via UPS in a poorly packed opened box with no sign of the original box inside it. We refused the delivery and UPS guys agreed with us. Since then we have been trying to call but the company seems closed on weekdays for random reasons. Called right now and message say we are closed Modnay and Tusday for Easter and will open on Wednesday. Similar experience last week - they were closed Monday-Wed. We are reporting this to the credit card company - not sure if I can trust these guys. "
"The WORST! I ordered a TV from them; they were out of stock and convinced me to get a different model. Turns out the model doesn't really work as a wall mount (I had told them that was what I was doing). I waited 20 minutes on hold before they told me, "Sorry. Call Panasonic." So I said fine, I wanted to return the TV. They said too bad -- the small print on the web site says you can't return TVs over 19". But the web site also say "satisfaction guaranteed". I asked them what that meant and they didn't care. But good news, perhaps -- my credit card company says that because the web site says "satisfaction guaranteed" I may be able to dispute the charge because the one thing these bozos clearly *don't* provide is satisfaction. Avoid!!"
