"I have been a long time customer. I've always gotten what I have ordered, in a decent time, by UPS ground shipping. I look up free coupons online or use the coupons in the catalogs that they send all the time.

I have ordered numerous tires, cycling garments, and replacement parts such as brake levers and hubs. The products were agreeable for the price, and sometimes I've gotten some really good deals such as tires for $10 each (the Slime/Love Tires 2.25 mudders called Slime SRT Tubeless tires which are really just DH tires with flat-free liners and tubes glued in. They are great in mud.)

Their phone support does not have the best technical help, but they do ship what is ordered, and the prices are ok. I like the Nashbar bike components.

I was charged state taxes, presumably for Ohio where the company is located, though I live in TX. That is pretty dumb. "

"I issue an order two weeks ago, after waiting 4 days,
I sent an e-mail asking what's up with my order.
Since I didn't receive any answer, I called their customer service, they politely answer me that the order in process.
I send them several e-mail and every time took them 4 days to answer.
Still my order was not shipped after 2 weeks.

Now I found over the web that their customer’s credit card information is leaking. So looking into their site look what I found.
Under "Security Info" in "How We Share Information" its says they share Info with "Third Party Intermediaries" as credit card processing company and "business partners" (I guess clean name for whoever pays to get info), etc.
Now the funny part is under "Breaches of Security" it's says

"We are not responsible for any breach of security caused by third parties or for any actions of any third parties that receive the information. We also may link to other websites or we may allow to be displayed on The Site advertisements of third parties. We are not responsible for such third party's privacy policies or how they treat information about their customers."

That is a real waiver of responsibility, Is like they say
We have good prices because we sell bikes and your personal details, now in case something bad happens you can not hold us responsible.

So I begin to be worried."

"I was surprised to see negative reviews.
This is my first order with them and personally, I was 100% satisfied.
I can't speak to the issues others had, my experience was painless.

I didn't care for the lack of an eMail confirmation of my order, but they had the best price, the shipping was cheap and it was in my hands 72 hours after I hit "send".
...what's not to like?
I give them a 5 out of 5."

"I just came across this website (resellerratings.com) in order to post a negative review of another online bike shop (bikesomewhere.com), and I figured I'd see how my regular bike shops are faring. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews for Nashbar, which has always been great for me. I order WAY too much from them; it's just fun to get a lot of cheap stuff and then tack on their sales which happen almost every day. I've never had a glitch, everything has always been in stock when advertised as such, and my orders ALWAYS ship within 2 days. Emails are always sent when needed (order conf, ship conf, refund confirmations). I've never had an exotic requirement from them (e.g., telephone customer service), so maybe that's really a nightmare per some of these reviews, but as far as simple, cheap bike parts/accessory purchases, I don't see how it could get better than these guys. Email service was fine - I had to return some things, and I received a prompt, detailed email back letting me know exactly what to do. Keep in mind that more people will be compelled to leave a review online after a bad experience, as opposed to a good one, so take these reviews with a grain of salt, I guess."

"Product Selection:
Nashbar has great selection, including a good range of low to high quality items, and real-time inventory.

Prices:
Very competitive pricing, so much so that even with paying additional duty on items cross border to Canada, it's still more affordable than buying locally.

Shipping/Customer Service:
My only real complaint of this site. I've ordered from them several times and sometimes the order is processed and shipped immediately, and other times, like in this past order, 2 weeks went by before I was notified that there was some confusion about my billing address. That took a week of phoning back and forth with their CS to straighten out.
Following that it took another 2 weeks to arrive, partly because of an item was back-ordered by the time they processed the order.
(Ironically, the back-ordered item arrived before the rest of the items).

Overall, I would order from them again, but not if I was relying on something within a month, like a bike race (which I was)."

"I wrote them off after their data base was hacked and my credit card was charged for several hundred dollars, while never being warned or informed.
I gave them a second chance. Recent order was placed but not shipped for 2 days, since it was a free shipping deal they sent it Fed-Ex Smartpost...what a joke. Order was shipped from Ohio, I live in Iowa, anything I have ordered in the past that originated from Ohio I had in hand the second day after it was shipped. This order took 7 days. Good bye Nashbar."

"From a normal consumer's perspective, Nashbar is a horribly run company. Their customer service is useless, it's impossible to get any real answers from them, and their phone numbers weren't working when I was trying to call and inquire about an order. Which leaves me at the mercy of hoping they'll answer an email I have to send through their website and pray they'll answer in an educated manner, which so far, hasn't happened.

I ordered some items on May 14, 2010, and it's July, and I'm still waiting for some of the items. When I email them, since I can't get them on the phone, to inquire about an item, I get an email that is addressed to the wrong name (both my email as well as my account have my name, so I have no idea how they addressed it completely wrong), and there's no reference to the items which haven't arrived yet. This shows that it's a very generic copy/paste email, and it just tells me they'll look into when the item will arrive, never to hear from them again.

It's been almost two months, I still have no idea when my item will arrive, if ever. I will be filing with my credit card company once the two month period has hit.

Mix all this in with the fact that you can not cancel any order, just makes this website a headache. There are PLENTY of other cycling dealers online I've dealt with that are much better than Nashbar, I will NOT be shopping with Nashbar again."

"Nashbar doesn't let you change or cancel an order after it has been placed! Shortly after I placed an order I realized that I had somehow selected the wrong item size. I immediately called the phone number they give with the order confirmation (it's labeled as the number to call if you have any problems with the order). The customer service representative was very short with me just flatly stating that orders cannot be changed or modified once they have been placed. The only option I have now is to wait until it arrives (which based on my previous experience with Nashbar will be some time) and then pay to ship it back to them. I will not be ordering from them again. REI has much better customer service in my experience.... "

"Be aware that Bike Nashbar charges state sales tax on shipping charges for shipments to California.According to the California govt website there should be no sales tax charged on shipping.I guess I just have to consider this tax as part of the price when ordering from them."

"Save yourself hassle and don't order from Nashbar. I placed an order and when realized that their normal procedures would not deliver the product when needed, I ordered the item again with expedited shipping. Package arrived on time, but wrong product. Incompetency every step of the way on their part - limited systems visibility and poor customer service reps."

"Placed an order on the 18th. It took Nashbar.com 22nd to ship. On top of that, they shipped Fedex which is the slower than UPS and much slower USPS. So my stuff won't get here until March 2nd. I have gotten products shipped to me from Europe and Asia faster than that. On top of that Nashbar charges sales tax in Washington state but they are in Ohio. Never will I order from them again."

"It's terrible!!!!! After 10 days of order on website, I just found out that they still haven't shipped merchandise yet. It's not acceptable in these days. If you need a parts immediately, don't bother buying from this place."

"Ordered two difficult to find bike helmets at lower than market price. Shipped within two days and arrived less than a week later."

"They had excellent sales but it took 2 entire weeks to ship after I had to pay $10 shipping for 2 small items. Shipping was through USPS so the only tracking information I got was that the package was in transit."

"Until this year, Nashbar was one of my favorite sources for bike stuff. Though selection often left something to be desired, the prices were good, all my orders were accurate, and shipping speed was reasonable.

However, most likely in December 2008, Nashbar had a breach in their credit card database. It appears that they may not have even know about it until at least March 2009 when many of their customers were victims of fraud, and the customers themselves compared notes online and traced it back to being customers of Nashbar. Even after this, they did not officially admit to the breach until June 2009, six months after it occurred.

After filing a police report, a local detective actually attempted an investigation, but Nashbar could not provide any logs, documentation, or any sort of help at all with regard to the breach.

As an apology, I was offered a 15% coupon for one order, shortly after filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

We all understand that breaches happen when you're dealing with electronic commerce, and most of us are willing to forgive when swift action is taken and the retailer does everything possible to help. However, not knowing when a breach happens, avoiding dealing with it for 3-6 months, and not maintaining logs that can help identify intruders is unbelievably negligent behavior for an online retailer. Maybe the folks at Nashbar have improved their security and developed a new attitude after this incident, but I won't be taking the risk of giving them another chance."
