"This company is a total rip off. On 5-16-2010 they took my money for 4 magazine subscriptions. As of this date 10-11-10, two of the subscriptions have not started. When I write the company they keep telling me they are checking on it, it's not their fault it's the publishers fault, etc. TOTAL SCAM - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY"

"FISHY COMPANY...
I have been communicating with this company since the order date. On 4/22/10, order date, is the 8-14 weeks til you get your first issue (was for ESPN and supposed to be a Father's Day gift for my Dad). On 8/6, asked when the first issue would arrive, as had not heard anything yet. On 8/9, got an email back that they would have to send an inquiry to the clearing house to check (which could take up to TWO weeks). THREE weeks after that I had not heard anything back, so had to contact them again.
Well, then, on 8/30, they tell me that there has been a delay in getting my order processed - a start date will be available in TWO WEEKS!
On 9/13, I again have to contact them to ask about the start date. On 9/16, they come back and say there's been a techical glitch in the system. Whaaaa??? Oh, and btw, they don't have a start date for my order. What the heck?
I told them I want a refund.
What a waste of time dealing with them."

"As I just wrote in my 10th email response to Best Magazines, my problem has never been with the customer service. Every email that I have written to them has been responded to...
My issue is that I ordered Every Day with Rachael Ray on April 12th. I waited the appropriate 8-14 weeks before I began my correspondence with Best Magazines to find out the status of my order.
I was first told that it will arrive in August due to the same 'clearing house issues' that everyone else in their reviews on this site seem to be having.
When the magazine didn't show up by the August date, I wrote again and now this morning, I check my email and I learn that now I will not be getting the magazine I ordered in April until September.
I asked for a refund back in July...I was told that once orders go to the clearing house, refunds are unable to be issued...
$3.89 is being dangled in front of my face like a carrot.
Best Deal Magazines, PLEASE refund my money!!
I am tired of following up on a $3.89 problem.
Do the right thing. If a customer orders a product, send them the product.
If you can not send them the product then refund their money!"

"I’m not sure about this business.

They offered 78 issues of Forbes magazine for $41.12 if you'd sign up to get other offers from them. I signed up. They sent me a LOT of email offers. After a number of weeks I contacted them because the magainze didn't come.

They said wait 14 weeks.

I waited 15 weeks. Contacted them again. Again got an automated response that they'd get back to me. They actually got back to me but I lost the message (my fault).

I called them. Left my phone number.

"the publisher, however, rejected and returned to the clearinghouse due to decreased circulation needs of the publisher at that time"

Then... just HOURS LATER... They said sure, I could get the magazine, but pay DOUBLE!

They called me to straighten out, and did give me my refund; however, I have a hard time believing the stories they told me…

When I finally talked to someone, they were very professional (even though I was pretty hot by now…)…

"UPDATE in response to Best Deals reply: First off, it was I that called ESPN magazine directly and got my subscription ordered. Best Deals emails me 5 days later (August 14th, NOT August 9th) taking credit for having gotten it all straightened out for me ! I have NOT received a credit, nor was one even mentioned. But since Best Deals posted such on this public forum, I will be expecting it. But, as of this date, I HAVE NOT received a CREDIT nor a MAGAZINE! 18 weeks and counting . . .

UPDATE: Okay -- it's 5 days since I inquired with Best Deals about where my magazine subscription was and I haven't heard anything. They said the would reply in 2 - 3 days, but may be as long as 5 days. Funny how they got back to me right away when they were making stuff up about me ever getting a magazine and now it doesn't look like I'll be getting anything from them or ESPN Magazine!!

I ordered ESPN magazine for my son's birthday in April. Of course, he and I were disappointed to learn he would't recive the first issue for 8 to 14 weeks, but we waited. On July 26, 2010 (14 weeks after placing the order), I emailed Best Deals to inquire on the status of the subscription. Within a few hours I received a response telling me that the publisher showed my subscription would start in August. As many August issues of magazines were on the stands, I asked if we shouldn't have received it already. Again, within hours, I received a response from Best Deals stating that I should receive the August 9th issue, by August 9th at the latest. So of course, on August 9th the mail came and no magazine. I emailed Best Deals again (because they have no one to answer the phone!) and here we are three days later without a response. I called ESPN magazine (duh - should have done this months ago!!) and they have no subscription for us. When I asked how Best Deals could have told me that "the publisher shows . . . .", I was told they pulled that out of the air. I have no blocks on my email and of course received all prior correspondence from them without a problem -- and I continue to check in with ESPN every day and so far, no subscription -- 16 1/2 WEEKS LATER!! My kid is so disappointed -- we won't make this mistake again!!"

"The key facts:

1.) My order for ESPN the Magazine never began and it has been *over 7 months*. Initial order placed April 11, 2010. Today's date (at the time I update this) is November 12, 2010.

2.) My initial emails to the company were responded to with automated/stock responses for weeks after first contact. Those responses were slow and did nothing to correct problems with my order. They contained no plan of action to resolve my issues.

3.) I would not use Best Deal Magazines again.

Update:

4.) After posting the above, I was issued a full refund and was told over the phone that I would still receive my subscription. However, that subscription was never delivered and I only recently was told by Best Deal Magazines that they have no intention of providing the subscription they promised.

More details: A couple hours after posting this review I was sent an email by Best Deal Magazines with a lengthy explanation of the status of my order. While explaining that the circumstances were unusual, they indicated:

1.) They submitted my order to a clearing house 9 days after I received my confirmation.
2.) Many other customers complained to Best Deal after orders through that clearing house failed to begin.
3.) In June, Best Deal pushed for answers from the clearing house and was advised that the orders would be pushed through for fulfillment during the week of July 23rd (and should have been with each publisher by August 2). Upon checking with publishers, Best Deal found this to be incorrect.
4.) The clearing house was unresponsive to further requests by Best Deal for account status updates for quite some time.
5.) Best Deal is no longer using that clearing house (which they indicated was a major clearing house) as Best Deal's main priority is making their customers happy... something they clearly did not value doing in my case.

Best Deal gave me a full refund (which funded on 8/13/2010) and indicated that I will receive my subscription. However, that subscription never began.

Best Deal asked me to remove my review here as they felt they were not responsible for the failures of their clearing house.

Rather than remove this review as they requested, I updated it include our most recent communications. A full refund is certainly a positive action, but in my opinion Best Deal remains responsible (and thus retains fault) when a business partner they selected to provide product fails to deliver. A full refund is a method of addressing that faulty performance, but it still does not make me as content as I would have been had the magazine been delivered on time. I still expect Best Deal to carry through on their statement that I will receive my order despite being refunded, although they have stated that this will not happen.

Since the refund, I have continued to contact Best Deal Magazine to request a status update. The initial responses were short and showed no substantial steps towards making sure my subscription began. When they finally did hear from the clearing house that the order would not be honored, they failed to contact me to inform me. They did not provide that information until I contacted them and pressed for a more detailed update.

When they told me that their clearing house would not fulfill the order, I asked that they find another means to fulfill their statement that I would receive the magazine subscription. A VP in the company responded to my email and reiterated that Best Deal Magazines will not provide the magazine as they said they would and did not feel responsible for filling the order because their clearing house did not deliver.

I remain unsatisfied and disgusted by the lack of integrity shown by Best Deal Magazines. If I made an agreement with a customer to provide a product and a business partner of mine forced me to fail to deliver, I’d find another way to deliver – even if I took a loss on the exchange. Best Deal Magazines does not share that ethic.

"So i left Best deal magazine a nasty review because they deserved it. then they contacted me asking me to remove it because they were going to give me my money back and a coupon code for a free magazine or something like that. and they were waiting for the clearinghouse blah blah blah! so i removed it hoping they were going to fix everything. this was back in august. and this was their latest email to me. 11/29/10

"We apologize for the long, drawn out process. We have been trying to get answers regarding your order since the end of May. We have been told countless times by the clearinghouse that your order was processed and a start date would be made available shortly. It was only recently that the clearinghouse sent us a list of returned orders. Your order was one of many that was returned , without warning. We have worked diligently to obtain your order status and were told repeatedly that your order would start. The clearinghouse did not provide a reason for the return of your order nor was there any rhyme or reason behind the orders returned.
Again, our apologies for the return of your order. If you have any further questions or require any additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me."

so i was right the first time with the bad review i gave them!!!!!!!!!

"I could not be happier with both the customer service and the speed in which my order arrived. I ordered two magazines on May 12th and my first issue arrived on July 1st. This was my first time ordering with Best Deal Magazines so I had some questions after placing my order. I emailed the company on a Thursday night and a CS rep emailed me back the next morning. All of my questions were answered and I felt reassured that I would get my order. Not only did my order arrive without any problems, it arrived earlier than the timeframe listed on the website. I will definitely use Best Deal Magazines from now.

"I read so many bad things about companies that I really try to give credit to the ones that I've had continued success. I've been ordering from Best Deal Magazines for years and I love them! I have had a few inquiries over the years, but I either call or email and my concerns are taken care of very efficiently. They have great sales with coupon codes as well."

"Not good customer service. I sent two emails because I never received my magazine and no reply. How many emails do I have to send? I almost feel like sending an email every 5 hours, but I have better things to do!!!!!!!!

Additional information: I received an email from Best Deal Magazines after my first review was posted stating that my magazine would start with the July issue. I called Sacramento magazine and was informed that no information was received from best deal magazines and I was not signed up to receive their magazine.
I do not understand!!! I will continue to update my review until I receive my magazine. I should not have to go to all this trouble!!!!!!

Additional information as of July 21, 2010. I still have not received my magazine. I will continue to post until I receive my magazine."

"I ordered a 4-year subscription to Maximum PC in December of 2009. My new subscription had not started by May, so I contacted the company. They claimed that they had e-mailed me a "coupon code" to "replace" my order. I never received an e-mail or a coupon code from them. It looks to me like they were just hoping I forgot all about my subscription. They did credit the amount back to my credit card a week later. If you order from these guys, make sure you follow up!"

"I placed a magazine renewal to add four years to my subscription of Automobile. A month later I checked on Automobile.com and my renewal is there. I was very impressed with the price and the speedy process."

"I ordered 2 magazines for my grandchild in 12/09, which have never been delivered. I wrote in March, 2010 and the matter was not addressed. Now 5/10, still no magazines. I would not recommend for those who want their magazines in less than 6 months.

Update: I received a call from Best Deal and was informed when the magazines would be delivered. I will update when the magazines are actually received.
2nd Update: May, 2010 one of the magazines has been received, second magazine promised for mid-June. I have upped the checkmark rating to 2 checks."

"horrible company.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!
16 weeks now and waiting for a magazine subscription.
customer service is nonexistent.
there's a phone # on the website that goes right to voicemail, telling you to go to the website.
when I email for help, they either don't respond or I get a form letter response, telling me to check the FAQ on the website.

zero personal service or interaction.

again, save your money.
it's not worth the horrible service.

UPDATE: company response below is AN OUTRIGHT LIE.
I emailed 4 other times starting on March 4, 2010 and still have the emails (and form letter responses).
I ordered the magazine in December.
it's now April.
still no magazine.
so how on earth have they "fulfilled the customer's order"????

2ND UPDATE:
this company clearly likes to use double-talk to avoid answering simple questions, so I'll ask again:

I ordered the magazine in December (and believe me, I now regret it).
it's now mid-April.
still no magazine.
and I've yet to talk to an actual person who works in customer service.
so how on earth have they "fulfilled the customer's order"????

PS, don't take my word for it.
read the other negative reviews below.
is there ONE INSTANCE where the company actually apologizes or takes blame for anything that's gone wrong???
I can't find one."

"I ordered a magazine subscription on 9/21/09. I never received the subscription. I have sent three separate emails and left a voice message on their answering machine. No response. The price of the subscription was too go to be true, now I know why I never have received the subscription."
