"I became a first-time customer of Avalon when I ordered a Canon EOS Digital XT camera. I placed the order on Monday and had my camera on Thursday despite the fact that Monday was a holiday. Customer Service was helpful and quick to contact me by e-mail after my order. My order arrived exactly as I had placed it. I would definitely recommend Avalon Gadgets to anyone considering making a purchase from them."
"Ordered Canon digital camera. Avalon telephoned to say there was a problem with the billing/shipping address. I corrected this "error" and was then informed that there was not a memory card included with this camera. If ordered right now for 39.99 I would receive a $10 discount on the sale. I agreed on the phone to this change and call finished. Billed my card and emailed me to say $415 charged to my account. Total was much more than it should be. Emailed back and got snotty reply about no cancellations, tax this, shipping that. Still did not add up. Called them back on phone. Really crappy attitude from them, they bumped me up on the price of memory card, tax, shipping. They would not change or cancel. All of this was within the span of an hour. Research shows that camera does indeed come with a memory card and the purchase was not necessary. So they flat lied to me. I have contacted my bank and card carrier and have filed the dispute. In the mean time charges have posted to my account and I must wait for the investigation to be completed. "
"Do Not Deal With These Chiselers!! I ordered a Canon Powershot digital camera and received an e-mail from AvalonGadgets asking if I wanted to also purchase a memory card. Huh?? Every other vendor on the 'Net *included* the memory card with the camera. After finally actually getting a live person on the phone I was told that the letters 'OEM' in the product description meant I had to buy the memory card separately. When I tried to cancel the order I was told "No Orders Can Be Cancelled!" The reason for *this* policy is obvious, isn't it? I was assured that the camera was New and in original packaging (see below). I already had a memory card on hand so I refused to order the card from them. When I received the camera the memory card was *listed* RIGHT ON THE FACTORY BOX as being part of the kit. When I called AvalonGadgets back to question this fact I got yet another line of crap. In addition they charged me 5% Mass sales tax. When I complained about this they insisted they had a 'retail presence' in Massachusetts, but refused to tell me what it was!!My advice: BUY ELSEWHERE! What little price advantage AvalonGadgets might offer is not worth the chisel job they will try to pull on you."
"I strongly urge you not to buy from this company. After ordering a Olympus camera, I was contacted by phone by a company rep and talked into buying a 32mp card. Later I found I could buy 62mp card from Olympus for much less. After finally finding out their phone # (847)833-4192 (my Emails went unanswered), I was told they wouldn'd except my unopened return for a refund. When I received my bill it seemed to be about $12.00 higher than it should have been. "

"I ordered a Fuji S3000 Digital Camera(I own 3 of these now) from this company on Dec1/04. At that time there website showed 3 in stock and continued to show stock at all times. However as soon as I ordered it and they accepted the order I was sent an order confirmation and my order was put on back order.I requested that the order be cancelled as this was to be a Christmas gift. I was then informed of the no cancellation, no refund policy.Numerous requests were made for an estimated shipping date with a response of, "I told you the item is on backorder". This company with its strict no cancellation policies should not be accepting orders that it knowingly cannot fill.Furthermore the NEW camera came in a different box than the original and was missing several pieces.After complaining about this I am told that New OEM means it does not come complete.I urge anyone considering doing business with Avalon Gadgets to check them out on Google first. There are to many honest companies out there, and no need too use this crooked outfit. I finally got my camera January 13/05, over 6 weeks after I ordered it.They also charged me $10.00 more for shipping than I was told. For what I don't know but I'm fed up and going to write this off as a lesson on buying over the internet. I also have a very hard time believing the good reviews that they get. I think they should be investigated for submitting there own reviews."

She did not push me to buy anything unneeded, in fact she was very hinest and told me that the items I wanted to buy were an overkill for my needs. I bought less expensive items and they were exactly what I needed. I rewarded the company's honesty by referring 2 friends to them."

No pushy or bait and switch tactics. The entire order was very straight forward and everything arrived on time and perfect condition. "I ordered the camera at the lowest price I found anywhere and for about 3 days after they had called me to tell me it was shipping that day, UPS had only the tracking number in the system. When I sent them an e-mail inquiring as to the status of the camera, and they replied with "Relax!! Stop E-mail us!! You'll get it soon!!" Clearly not so polite. I got the camera, OEM as expected but they never said it doesn't come with the 3 MB CF card which is annoying. When I e-mailed them they claimed they called to tell me this. They didn't. Great price but they charged $23 for shipping from almost next door and wouldn't budge on it. They're reminiscent of an e-bay seller who makes money off shipping! I would rather pay a little more than deal with them again! DON'T BUY FROM THEM, I got the charge on my credit card and it was $40 more than they said because there's one line somewhere that says something like tax could be added afterwards but they never told me they actually would be charging tax because they have a location in New York. When I asked they said there was a line in the confirmation saying they might apply tax but they never told me they'd be doing it. I'm not happy!"
"I purchased a camera (Canon S500) from Avalon Gadgets this past week. My order arrived quickly, and was the make and model I requested. No complaints. I was very satisfied with the transaction.Originally I had problems with order. Nice gentleman, Avalon Gadgets' director, called to apologized for problems (even though it was my fault)and promptly resolved them. With a combination of extremely low prices, wide variety of products and an obvious dedication to customer service, I would buy from Avalon Gadgets again and again."
"DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AVALON GADGETS unless you want to get ripped off. This business is what makes doing Interent business bad. It is not a good company to deal with. They are not honest and overcharge your credit card if you purchase anything from them.I purchased a Canon Powershot A70 digital camera from Avalon Gadgets for listed price of $148.24. When it was shipped, my credit card was billed a total of $183.12 and the camera although brand new in the box did not come with a card, so it's basically useless without it. This company charged me $19.76 for shipping charges and $15.12 in tax. Their salesperson was rude and hung the phone up on my wife. I will never buy anything from this store again. They are not very friendly and are not very honest."
"DO NOT BUY FROM AVALON GADGETS. Hey, that looks familiar.... almost everyone who orders from them says that, I wonder why?I am one of the unfortunate ones that found this site AFTER I placed my order with Avalon Gadgets. Everything you read here is true. Here is my story.1) On Tuesday November 9th I emailed Avalon about PART #: PEGUX50/U (Sony Clie). I asked if it was 'BRAND NEW (not refurbished, not used, not 'near new', not 'almost new')'. They replied with 'The product is New'. Sweet!2) On Wednesday November 10th I emailed regarding express shipping costs to Canada. They told me 'The Express Delivery is about $69.99'.3) On Wednesday November 10th at 8:42pm I placed my order and chose expedited shipping (I figured the price should be between ground and express shipping).4) On Thursday November 11th I emailed Avalon inquiring as to what they charged me for shipping (as NO WHERE on their website does it specify shipping costs other than ground shipping), when the package will be shipped, and when I could get a tracking number. They told me they charged $580.99 to my credit card, and did not reply to the other questions. So, $515.79 for the product and $65.20 for expedited shipping. Darn, I should have got express shipping.5) I emailed them back immediately and asked about my other questions (when will it be shipped, and would I get a tracking number).6) They emailed back and said 'The order will be sent tomorrow and the tracking # can be viewed by clicking the Order Status Button on our home page.'7) I figured since they did not ship the item yet, I might as well ask if I can pay 'around' $5.00 more for express shipping. So I did. They replied with 'Sure, we can do that!'8) As a result (I found out later) they charged my credit card $6.99. This is fine, but they never mentioned what the charge would be.9) On Thursday November 11th I queried their 'tracking number' on ups.com and fedex.com, and nothing. I emailed them to inquire, and they told me 'The tracking # is for USPS and it is being sent out today!'. Odd.10) I asked 'How is there a tracking number if it has not been sent out yet? Why has it not been sent out yet? I ordered it on Wednesday, andexpected it to be at least shipped out by Thursday. My Visa card called me asking about the transaction, and I am gettinga little weary about it.' to which they replied 'The tracking # is issued by a computer and the package is sent out through a Post Office. The order will be sent out today!'11) Right about then I was getting worried, as I had found this site and read the terrible reviews. My credit card company called asking about the transaction (as I have never spent around $800.00 CAD on my credit card). I quickly emailed them back and asked 'What time today? Will I be able to track it today? I have read some complaints from some other customers, that is why I am getting worried. No offence.'12) On Friday November 12th they replied with 'We process over 3000 orders a day and there's no way to tell what time today. The tracking should be available within 2 days on www.usps.com In the mean time just relax and await your order.'. So I relaxed. and waited until the following Tuesday.13) On Tuesday November 16th usps.com still had no info about my tracking number. The number is valid, but they just don’t have any info about it. Weird.14) BEGIN CUSTOMER IGNORE NOW.15) Ya, so I emailed asking about the tracking number, it went something like this 'Hello, there is no record of item EC104634430US at www.usps.com. Any ideas?'. No reply.16) On Wednesday November 17th I emailed again with 'Hello, once again there is no record of item EC104634430US at www.usps.com. It has been within 2 days like you said and still nothing. Why did I pay over 80 dollars for express shipping?'. No reply.17) On Thursday November 18th I emailed yet again with 'Hi, I was wondering if you got my previous emails? I asked about thetracking number, and how nothing is showing up at usps.com with it. Please advise. Thanks.'. NO REPLY.18) On Thursday November 19th I emailed for the last time with 'Hello, are you ignoring my emails now? Once again usps.com does nothave my tracking number in their system. If you do not reply VERY soon, I will be forced to call Visa to reverse the order. This is getting ridiculous. There should be no reason why I paid for express shipping and not have this package yet, or at least a VALID tracking number. Thank you!'. NO REPLY!19) On Friday November 20th (Today) I called Visa and told them my situation. They put the order in dispute and will try to take care of it.20) I have been sick to my stomach about this issue and I regret every moment of using Avalon Gadgets. They seemed pretty nice and fast to respond before the order (or should I say before the money cleared in their account), but after that, good luck getting a response.DO NOT BUY FROM AVALON GADGETS, YOU WILL REGRET IT, I KNOW I DO!You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org."
