"Most positive or satisfactory reviews are another Scam by A1books to fool new customers, they are all short, no details, and almost same pattern of deceptive language.

"I bought through AbeBooks, so did not know I was dealing with these scam artists until it was too late: Total scam artists -- DON"T SHOP HERE. I ordered a text book, they shipped from some other company, with no contact or return info THE WRONG BOOK, even though the packing slip had the text book name correct, they shipped a cheap pamphlet "study guide" for the textbook I needed, NOT THE TEXRBOOK. Now I am a week into the semester with no book, the used books are sold out on campus and I will have to spend double for a new book or fail my class. DO NOT SHOP A1 BOOKS. "

"I ordered 3 books for my son for Christmas thru Amazon. The expected delivery dates for the books according to Amazon was December 23rd. Perfect! Two of the books arrived on the date promised. The book shipped from A1 still has not arrived.

I'm not one to complain and have never written a complaint about ANY company that I have done business with on the internet but this is downright RIDICULOUS! They charged me almost $4 to ship ONE book that could have blown here faster.

I order a lot of things off of the internet. I have never seen anyone ship anything so slowly in my life.

"Ordered a widescreen version of the "Stardust" movie. Received a full screen version. Contacted A1 Books - the only way is the website. Received an email to contact the seller directly. The seller submitted again the wrong return address on purpose and then never replied. Summary - A1 Books is a cover for scams.
After I notified A1 Books about my reviews, they replied to several other people on the same day - Jan 4, 2010. They also asked me to perform the following actions:
Can you please take a picture with a camera or your cell phone of the box that you addressed and have had stamped as undeliverable? Can you also forward the email that the seller sent to you to seller@a1books.com along with the
pictures. I want to compare his address with what we have on file. Also, when did you physically mail the package? It should be on the box as well.

Well, I wasted enough time and I am not going to spend any more resolving a $10 issue. Just buyer beware - with A1Books you are gambling and you are on your own. Better spend couple more dollars and buy from Amazon. Even eBay is better - sellers are really concerned about feedback."

"Ordered a guide book to Peru before my trip on November 11. Never received the book before we left on November 24th. A1Books said it had been shipped on the 19th but never gave a tracking number. Book was not shipped until the 24th of November and reached destination on the 9th on December, nearly a month after order was placed. Will NEVER, EVER buy from them again. Recieved a feedback notice from Newegg. Tried to leave feedback and A1books' site and it said my account did not exist. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! It's not worth the hassle and frustration!!"

"I am very suspicious of this company because I believe my credit card number was stolen through transactions with them. Within days of buying an electronic book through A1Books, fraudulent charges were made against my credit card. This is a card that had been used very rarely for several months, so it was not in wide circulation. The card number was changed, I purchased another ebook, and the card was immediately compromised again. The only purchase I had made so far with the new number was through A1Books. I have no absolute proof, but the circumstances are very telling. I saved a lot of money on those two books, but I doubt I will use the service again unless they start accepting paypal."

"So, I like everyone else am struggling to figure out why I have yet to recieve my order. As you've all discovered A1books does not have a telephone number to call. I did eventually find this working one:

(973) 426-9995

Now, if you press 9 for customer service a machine tells you to go to the website and then hang up on you. However, I also found the first names of several of their employees (http://www.jigsaw.com/id552229/a1books_com_company.xhtml) :

Shinu
Bobby
Abhish
Rini

So, if you go to their employee directory and enter the first three letters of any of those fellows, you get to at least leave a message. I'm harassing them til I get a response. You all should join in."

"I ended up ordering the wrong book for my daughter's Government class and needed the right book in a hurry and at a good price. A1Books.com got it half right.

The price was very good but their customer service is non-existent. They shipped twelve (12) days after I ordered and used some UPS service that shipped the book to within twenty (20) miles of my home and then shipped it hundreds of miles away to be shipped USPS (originally shipped UPS). When I inquire as to why this happened, I keep getting the same form letter asking for my order # and issue. It's like a joke with them. I sent them the information and whoever's having a bad day there keeps sending the same form back.

Obviously we need the book before the semester ends and at this rate, knowing the book has been sent to the other end of the state to be sent USPS, I'll assume A1books.com sent it via slugmail and I'll have to find another copy I can get faster (like online) then sell this one. I would have to rate A1books.com a big fat F. There's no benefit to buying a book a few dollars cheaper if you won't get it within a reasonable time. Buy Elsewhere!"

"This company sucks. The phone number and fax numbers are disconnected. I bought my book through Amazon and will NEVER BUY THROUGH AMAZON AGAIN. All they had to say is I'd have to contact the seller. Amazon sent me an email Aug 20 saying that my book had shipped. Today (Sept 1) I got an email from A1 saying that my book had just shipped. I contacted Amazon to find out why there was a discrepancy. The lady, who I could barely understand, said I'd have to contact the seller. Obviously the seller is lying to Amazon about when they ship items, but Amazon doesn't care. They represent crap sellers and by doing so crap on their customers.

BUYER BEWARE OF A1 BOOKS AND AMAZON!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Had the best price on a book I was looking for, plus they had it in the less-common hardback format. I decided to give A1 a try. Ordered late Thursday night, book shipped Saturday, and I got the book on Friday. One week from order to receipt isn't bad. All the other online retailers I buy from provide a package tracking number, but A1 did not (or does not) provide a tracking number. That's my only criticism. Would buy from again if the price is right."

"Not only was this company no problem, but the audio book I ordered was by far the best price out there. Would deal with them again. I am surprised at the number of people with negative reviews here. Again, I 'suffered' only good things from them."

"Cheapest price for the book I wanted, but the turnaround time on their website is misleading. What was supposed to take one business day to ship instead took three. Not a major difference, but buyers should beware that although the prices are very good, that this retailer does not honor their listed turnaround times."

"THIS COMPANY SUCKS!!
I can't believe they are still in business. The website said that it take 3 days for processing and it really took 10 days. I ordered this book on the 21st and I still haven't received it. One of the reasons why I ordered from this compay is because they are located in NJ and so am I. Unfortunately, that was the wrong reason to pick a company. The book left Elizabeth NJ and went to Philadelphia-for what I don't know. There is no phone number to contact them because they don't want to deal with the complaints. This is the absolute worse book company I have ever dealt with throughout all the years I have been going to school. I would rather pay full price for a book than to deal with a1BOOKS...I usually don't write reviews but this company need to go out of business...STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, IF YOU NEED YOUR BOOK RIGHT AWAY!!!"
