"This is a disreputable company. How they run their business may be illegal, if not, it should be. I don't have any "axe to grind" with this company, I just don't want anyone else to get screwed like I almost did.

My experience was very similar to the other bad experiences that people have described here. After placing my order I received an email from 24hrdigital to call them so that they could "verify" the order. As others have said, this verification was really a sales pitch to sell me unnecessary accessories. I don't know whether they were over-priced or not. They said the standard battery included with the camera was only a "30 minute" battery, whatever that means, and I really needed to order an upgraded battery for $42. FYI, Nikon says the standard battery is good for approx. 210 shots, which I think should be adequate for most people. They also tried to sell me an 8GB memory card for another $42. Again, probably way more than the average consumer needs. I agreed to purchase both of these accessories but called backed later to cancel when I realized I didn't need them. They continued to try to sell the options and haggle about the price. When I said no, they informed me of a $35 shipping insurance fee for the original order that, regardless of their assertions, was not clearly indicated, maybe in the fine print somewhere, but this extra charge was not shown either in the invoice when I completed my order or in the "order details" that they emailed me. I should have known something wasn't right when I couldn't print a copy of the invoice.

Don't take a chance on the excuses included in their responses here. There are plenty of other places to shop. Shop elsewhere."

"This seems to be their newest name! These charlatans use tactics similar to digitalelect, a division of Crazy Camera Deals. They will try to sell you an extended life battery, and quick charger. Do not buy from these crooks. You will receive the normal battery and charger. They have gotten hundreds of people with this scam! http://thoughts-of-dave.blogspot.com/2009/12/digitalelectcom-aka-digital-elect.html"

"I purchased a camera for my Mother and paid for expedited shipping. On the day it was supposed to arrive, I called to see what the status was. They told me they had "sold out" but could get me another one for a significantly higher price. They tried to bait and switch, which is illegal and they will be hearing from my attorney. This is a HORRIBLE company and I will never order from them again. I also will tell EVERYONE I meet about the horrible service."

"At the beginning of last week, I was prepared to give 24hrdigital a 3 star review, now it's going to be a 1 star/check review. I ordered online (a Canon T2i camera) without a hitch, but one of their sales reps. named Gabe called me to "verify" my personal info. Well, the verification turned into a 30 minute sales pitch where I wouldn't buy anything extra (in part because all accessories were way overpriced) so he kept trying to lower the accessory prices. I believe Gabe also flat out lied to me about how long the included battery would last. He said it would only last 40 minutes whether I was taking pictures or not, but my research shows it is good for about 550 pics. I would be hard pressed to take that many meaningful pics in 40 minutes.

At the end of the call I find out my order is going up by $33 dollars for insurance and handling. I read there would be a fee beforehand, and I know they give a disclaimer on the site about charging you for that, but it never states how much or how they figure out what they will charge for insurance/handling. A more reputable business who is not being shady could easily include insurance and handling upfront as part of the online ordering process. I almost cancelled my order here, but it was still an OK price after insurance was added. If the story ended here, I would've given 3 marks out of 5.

The sales rep, Gabe, stated my order would be shipped in 2 days. After waiting a week without my credit card being charged, I called to find out it is "backordered". No email, or call from them to tell me this, which is again, standard practice for normal online businesses I deal with in the past. They told me it would be another 3 weeks, which I don't believe anything they tell me at this point, so I cancelled my order. I went back out to their website, not only is my "out of stock" camera still listed to purchase without mention of it being "backordered", but they lowered the price $30 to lure more people in this trap.

Don't know if you can call this a bait and switch, but at the very least it is unethical to say free shipping when they charge $33 for insurance on shipping. Not to mention, if you don't give into their unsolicited sales pitch to increase their profit margin, then all of a sudden your order becomes "backordered". I'm almost tempted to place another order with 24hrdigital for the same camera online just to see if they tell me it's in stock initially.

"I just purchased a Cannon T2i and accessories from 24hrdigital. I was a little put off at first with the slightly less than straightforward advertising, but in the end it was worth it. Yes, 24hrdigital tried to upsale, but what salesperson doesn't? In the end I got everything I was promised for the agreed upon price and then some. I got a free camera bag and mini tripod that I wasn't expecting. Whatever anxiety I had waiting for the merchandise was worth it - these guys are legit and I saved at least $100 overall. I definitely recommend them."

"another Bait and switch store. Unless you buy there overpriced accessories they will hike up additional percentage charges on you to keep you from buying there products that they can not even sell at the prices advertised. As most Bait and switch store out there they all of a sudden did not have it in stock after me verifying with 2 different people that it was in stock to begin with. They are nothing but dishonest, a poor excuse for a business. These guys make crooks look good, and that's pretty sad."

"I feel as a customer a need to prove 24hrdigital is legit!

To ALL of you nay-sayers out there...I received my purchase in perfect new box condition. No I am not affiliated in any way with 24hrdigital. You can point your fingers all you want and waggle, however at the end of the day I still got a Canon T2i $150.00USD cheaper than anywhere on-line or in-store. I actually bought a Sigma lens from B&H while in NYC, you can even check my review just go to www.bhphotovideo.com and search for item: SI1820035C and click reviews and my handle (Mr3dfx) will be one of the newest reviews! You may ask well if he had a T2i allready why buy another? Well I no longer needed the kit lens that came with the one I bought from Wal*Mart so I took that T2i kit back and looked on-line for a body only to save some money and found 24hrdigital.com and took a chance and I too have been burned by the fly-by night NY camera shops and making a purchase from a new store scared the crap out of me. I was honestly prepared to write an awfull review, however these guys are legit! When I called to confirm my order the salesperson tried to sell me a longer life battery and an extended protection plan, I graciously declined and he accepted my answers and sent me my NEW IN A RETAIL BOX camera. This is NOT a bait and switch, because when I called he didn't try to swindle me into a different product, he tried to add on sales, that's what a good salesperson does.

So in a nutshell Great Job 24hrdigital! Thank you for the camera and prompt service! Even if there are crazy people out there with a vendetta against on-line camera gear shops you guys rock! Thanks again!

AND NO!!! I WAS NOT PAID OR COMPENSATED BY 24hrdigital IN ANY WAY. YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GET A LIFE AND STOP TRYING TO RUIN THEIR BUSINESS!
I will copy this review and paste it into the other review sites as well. "

"Have a receipt for order of Canon 7D saying $1314.24 with Free Shipping - when I wouldn't increase my order by buying accessories my total was increased to $1431.xx to cover INSURANCE for shipping...I cancelled order for fear of what would come next...if the actual cost of doing business is $1431.xx STATE it not $1314.24...!!"

“It clearly states in our shipping policy (http://www.24hrdigital.com/shipping-policy.aspx) before you checkout while you are checking out as well as after you check out that the advertised price does not include the Insurance & Handling Fee, that is the reason why your order total went up, we clearly indicate that in our shipping policy. Shop with confidence we have many satisfied customers and we are here to help.

"Excellent, I bought Nikon D700, the camera was as described, new and perfect. The same went for a lense. I did receive an immediate email with the confirmation number as soon as I placed my order. The camera was shipped in 24 hours.

"Purchased a D90 with a lens package. Placed the order online. Received the order as well as a few upgrades in less then 7 days A little slow being that I live in Stated Island and they are in brooklyn. Would do business with again because they saved me over $300 from my local best buy. Thank you 24Hr Digital.
