"I found myself in the same situation as most of these stories....Placed my order, got nervous, tried to cancelled 30 minutes after placing order, was told it had been shipped. I calmly told them that I do not want the camera, and if it has been shipped what are the steps I need to take in returning it and being refunded. "Scott" then explained to me once it arrives I need to insure it and send it back. I would have to pay a 20% restocking fee. I then explained to him that I felt deceived and was going to call the Better Business Bureau about my experience. I was upset, but tried to stay calm, thanked him and hung up. The next day (still trying to be very polite) I called back to see if, by any chance, I could cancel. I was told that my order was voided yesterday. I feel like I was one of the more lucky ones in dealing with this terrible company, but I would high discourage anyone from ordering from them. Obviously I was lied to about the ordered already being shipped. If you find yourself in this situation…. #1 try your hardest to stay calm and be polite (1wayphoto has used foul language and hung up on people….this will get you no where) #2 Inform them that you would like to contact Better Business Bureau about your dealings with the company and #3 Contact Visa or your bank whatever you used to pay to inform them of the situation and that you would like to stop payment or dispute charges. I hope you don’t order from them. If you already have, I wish you the best in your battle. "
"Stay away from these crooks!!!!!!!!!!Same old story. I found this site to late. Made order for Canon lens at low price ad. They call me back with a BS and talked me into a Sigma lens and told it MSRP was 1200 dollars. I was at work and could check it out. This was at 3:pm. I call them that evening to cancel and the y said it already shipped but couldn't give me a ship ID. Callled my CC company but they couldn't help me out.Called 1 way the next day they still couln't give me a Tracking Number. Too boot they hang up on me then they want answer the phone . I call on a differ phone and they answer. Caller ID CrooksI recieved the Sigma lens without the filter he said I would get. I called forever to get a RMA and it says they are closed. After reading all the trouble for credit on returns I have desided to keep the sigma lens. At least I have something for my money. Bad side is I could have bought it online for $350 and I paid 629 by the time it got to my door without a glass filter I was promissed. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org I'll never buy from a dealer without checking them out again.I don't know what else to do. I think an undercover sting should be setup to bust these no good SOB's."
"I attempted to purchase two Nikon D80's with the 18-200 VR lenses from 1 Way Photo. My first question was if they were in stock. I was assured they were. One was to be gift for my sister's birthday and the other an upgrade for me. I made my phone order on Friday and was told the camera's would ship on Monday and arrive no later than Wednesday just in time for the birthday girl. On Thursday I still had not received either camera. A call on Friday morning resulted in being told they had been back ordered and would not be in until the middle of June. I experienced the same upgrade special offers that some of the other reviewers have talked about. They were more than willing to help me spend 2 or 3 times my original purchase. Talk about a slick bait and switch - these guys have it down pat. I passed on all the upgrade specials and now fully expect that's why I'm on the back ordered (forever!)list. I called two days ago and was told they were still on back order and it would now be the end of June. That's when I began searching for some background info on these guys and found this web site. I will be cancelling the order first thing in the morning. I think their rating of .44 is much too high. Almost burned! I think the name 1 way sums it up nicely!"
"I wish I had found this site first, like the old saying if it is to good to be true, it normally is. Unlike many I was excited about the EOS Rebel XSI, I have been wanting a SLR camera for a few years, same story, asked to call to confirm order told I needed to buy a battery, I thought I had some time to talk but when I called I became very busy, gave me a story about a 5 hour battery and a charger being being about $300 more, and said he would do me a favor and upgrade by giving me higher quality lenses, and saving me money on the memory card, the bottom line was 1229, and with free shipping it would be 1299. Hind sight being 20/20 I should have smell the bull. The shipping was quick, in the camera case there was a battery and a charger, I did not find a 5 hour battery, the lenses were not Sanon lenses, but Sigma lenses. I the accessories I felt were cheap quality, the tripod, cheap, the bag cheap. I started checking on-line to do a price comparison, I was not happy. the memory card less than $10, the two Sigma lenses, less than $250, the tripod less than $15, the two u/v filters less than $15. I could have bought the camera in a store for $895, and then had money left over to purchase higher quality accessories. Now my problem, I could still return the camera, but I looked at the return policy and I have opened the memory card case, and have used the cleaning kit. Restocking fee and then making me pay for memory card at their prices I would lose money. What can I do so I not lose money. Or, do I chaulk up it up for experience and take my loss. Any advise would be appreciated."
"I was looking for a camera at a good price, that's how i ran into this website. A Panasonic dvx100b for only $1299.00. Sounds great, except that is not true. when i called to order the camera, they told me that it came without the lens (body only)They than convinced me the buy a different camera that just happened to be on sale at $2,100.00 (Sony hvrhd1000) (normally $2.999.00 that their website, I later found out it only sells for $1,599.00 at honest websites.) claiming that it was a much better camera. To make a long story short. The next day i did some research and realized that i had been lied to everything that i was told, turned out to be false. MY Advice, don't do business with these crooks, they're going to rip you off big time. by the way i found this other website called pricing depot.com, looks like the same people behind the website, be careful, like the saying goes if it sounds too good to be true. "
"Reviews of 1 Way Photo are unfair. This is my favorite store. The workers are my most loyal subjects. The sales techniques they use I have taught them personally. They serve me very well. Satan"
"Pretty much the same story. Ordered camera package Friday for my wife for a graduation present. Got an email Monday asking me to call to confirm my order. When I called a guy with a bad New York accent asked me if I wanted to purchase a "special 5 hr. battery" for $199. I stated that the item description said that it came with a battery and he said it was "just a battery to set up the date and time on the camera". I looked up how much a "real" battery would cost--$15-$45, so i said no thanks to his offer. He just hung up the phone. I then found this site and got nervous. Luckily yesterday they sent me an email cancelling my order due to the item not being in stock. Out of curiousity I called, asked if my order was officially cancelled, he said yes, and I said "Thats too bad, I was going to order that special battery." He then said hold on. He came back and said he just found one and if I gave him my security code he would process my order. I said no thanks, I know your game and will be alerting the authorities. He then yelled some expletives and hung up. Scam artists, and not even very good ones. Good scam artists are charming, not a**wipes like these jerks."
"If you ever made purchase, and now you are reading it, be very hurry!! take your action to get out of there, otherwise you will feel likean greatest idiot in the world. Don't waste your time with these scammers to try to fix the problem. just call the bank, and file disputed claim, that's what I did after I was hung up many times, and fooled by lies and lies, I got sick and tired to deal with them, and I hope you don't need to go through that yourself. You really don't need to be nice to those people because the more you treat them nicely, they will try to fool you and use you. I will skip my story because it is just same as others story here. But one thing, when I was so desperate with this scam, I came here and read all these stories and I got couraged to take my action and I got my money back and returned the stuffs. I learned about BBB from here so I filed the repoert, filed disputed claim with my bank, and they helped me. So if you have same situation, talking to your bank would be the best way. Fight for your right."
"Obviously, I'm here to complain about this company. How much I would have liked to see this website before ordering a lens with 1wayphoto!!! PLEASE DON'T BUY FROM THEM!!! This is an advice from someone who's been buying on internet for more than 8 years and who got scammed for the first time.My story is very similar to everyone... I ordered a $800 canon lens 17-55mm on their website end of march, I was asked to call them to confirm the order. I talk to "Scott" on the phone and he tells me that the canon lens is not good and that he can sell me a Sigma lens for the same price. I was in a rush when it happened, english is not my mother tongue, he was very nice on the phone... basically, he got me and I know this was really silly of me cause it was so obvious that it was a scam!Anyway, I realized my mistake few hours later by looking on internet and discovering the sigma lens was only $300 on Amazon, I call them to cancel and of course it's been shipped already! What a lie! Unfortunately, I paid with a debit card so impossible to cancel at that point. So I wait patiently for the lens, when I receive it, I call them to get an RMA number and of course it takes ages to get that number. They didn't want' to give it on the phone, they wanted me to send an email. I send the email, no answer, so I call again and this same guy "Scott" offers me a $200 discount to which I say no. I finally get my RMA number. I send the parcel back with UPS.More than 2 weeks later, no refund on my account which is not a surprise. I called them today and they told me that they gave me a refund on the 10th april, I ask for a reference number and they can't give me one!!! So I call my bank but they certify me that no refund has been made into my account since last week. I call 1wayphoto again and they put me in contact with this woman who's the rudest person I have ever talked to on a phone. She tells me that the payment has been made and that she will fax me the receipt. Of course, few hours later still no fax...So tomorrow I'm going to call them again and tell them I'm going to the police. I really had enough and I have all the proofs that they own money that I didn't get. What do they think? Just because I'm not american I'm gonna let that go!Sorry but I'm so upset about this whole situation. I'm really going to do my best so that this company shuts down. They should be put in jail!!! It really makes me laugh the few positive comments you can read here. No doubt, they wrote them!Anyway, I could do with some advice right now as I don't really know how this country works with this kind of situation. Should I go to the police in Brooklyn and make a statement? Or can I do it where I am at the moment? I'm in Vermont, going to New York next week. I will obviously contact all the other companies people have been talking about. I really thinks this is very serious what this company does and they should really been put to jail. Before finishing a big thank to all the people who have been writing here, I completely understand what you've been through. If we all fight together, I'm certain something good will come out of it. This may sound very dramatic but I have never heard of something that bad before.Oh and if people don't believe, I have kept emails, ups receipts... and I can proove that I'm not lying.----------------------------------Here is a following up to my misadventure with 1WayPhoto.I'm waiting for a refund of $679.79 that 1Way Photo said they have paid on the 10th of April. They finally sent me a copy of that receipt of that transaction after two phone calls. On the second one, I talked to a guy called Andy and he was literally shouting at me, saying that I was a horrible person because I was threatening him about contacting the police if I wasn't getting my money back. Oh yes, I'm so bad! I have been stolen, under lots of stress, wasted time on the phone with them, being talked to like if I was an animal but of course, I'm the horrible person not them. What a laugh! Anyway, the receipt doesn't look fake and it shows the amount I'm waiting for and my bank card number.I called my bank again and they certified me once more that nothing had come through. Unfortunately, they can't do anything on their side. 1Way Photo has to do a debit trace with their bank. My bank told me it could be that they cancelled the refund the day after so that they could get the receipt and still prove that they had paid me. But of course, they won't say anything about the cancellation.I didn't call them cause I already know they won't do the debit trace, they don't care and this is exactly what Andy said on the phone, "I don't care". Nothing else I can do now with them.So I have called the Brooklyn DA (Kings County DA) and I was told that if 1Way Photo doesn't have a shop, it is not possible to sue them and that I need to speak with the IC3. Of course, they don't have a shop, it's only an internet company, they are very clever.By the way, check that website:http://donwiss.com/pictures/brooklynstores/and this:http://donwiss.com/pictures/brooklynstores/h0265.htmI have made a complaint with IC3, BBB New York and New York City DCA. I think this is the best I can do. From what I've read on internet other people have complained about 1Way Photo with those 3 companies so they shouldn't be surprised to see my complaint. I will keep you updated with what is going to happen next.---------------------------I GOT MY REFUND!!!After more than a month I finally got my money back. I have lost in total $300 (restocking fees, delivery...) and time but it was worth it. The lens they sent me didn't work anyway!!For all the people that unfortunately got scammed, you can send the parcel back, it takes time, money and energy but this is their way of trying to put off people to send items back and in the end win about selling things much more expensive than what they really cost."
"Wow, so many people scammed and I unfortunately am another to add to this long list. Of course I ordered a $2,100 lense and camera deal with all the extras (most of which normally come with the camera like the battery and charger). I wanted the Canon 17-55mm lense since I did my research and found out what a great lense it was. But he convinced me that he had a better deal on a $1,799 sigma lense. I looked up the cost of the sigma lense and found out it retailed for $670 and most places sold it for around $400. I called him back to question him about it and he over and over stated that this lense was not the same lense he was giving me. So I went through with the order and when I received the camera and lense I called sigma directly. They looked up the serial number and of course it WAS the same lense that has a MSRP of $670 and they said they offered no other "professional edition" of this lense as stated by the guy at 1WayPhoto. I was also told that if I wasn't happy with the lense (this was pre-order) that I could have the canon lense I wanted for the same price. But, when I called to complain and ask for the Canon lense as promised he told me that I would need to pay another $250 for the "metal" mount instead of the plastic mount. I said I didn't want to pay anything else and to just give me the plastic and he freaked out and said not to do that and then finally admitted he couldn't supply the plastic mounted lense. Anyway, I'm trying to get my return authorization number now from him to return everything even though he says that I will owe over $400 in return fees (15% of purchase). I have contacted my credit card company (american express) to contest the charges but they said to go ahead and return the merchandise first then worry about the additional return charges. I feel like an idiot for dealing with these scam artists. Oh yeah, on the phone "Scott" also said he would come down on the price $300 and since I didn't agree I wasn't "trying to resolve the problem" and he ended up calling me an "idiot" on the phone. This guy is classless. I'm curious as to anyone else who has contested the charges with the credit card company and how it turned out?? Any feed back?"
"Same story next fool! They pressured me to buy the upgrade (which doesn't exist) I finely reluctantly agreed. I should have ran!Decided I better check out the store ratings and found this sight a couple of nights later. Tried the next day to cancel the order but it had already shipped. I canceled my credit card because I don't trust them not to use it. I did get the part I ordered but it was not a deal , shipping was free but free cost about $30.I have been educated and will only buy from reputable sellers from now on. Resellerratings.com will always be consulted before buying on line from now on. Even some popular online stores don't have great ratings. "
"I purchased a camera and was sent a different camera. I called to say i would be sending it back and was told there would be a 15% restocking fee. I began to argue and said I would not paid for there mistake and the costomer sevcice person hung up on me. I have contaced the Attorney Generas office to file a complaint and also the BBB in New York. A friend of mine is a P.I. he said this is a shaddy company! "
"Do not order ANYTHING from these people! This company's prices are fictitious. They have no intention of letting you buy the item at the stated price. If you resist their aggressive up-selling your item is now suddenly back-ordered. This will give them some time to work on selling you more accessories which should rightfully be packaged with the product. Example: I tried to order a Nikon D80 w/18-135 lens at the unbelievable price of $710.00 (I know, I know, if it sounds too good.......). After looking carefully I couldn't find the "Whats in the box" button common with most electronics retailers. Well, they don't want to say "whats in the box" because they have removed alot of it and will now attempt to sell it back to you at an OUTRAGEOUS price. After refusing to buy "accessories" my order suddenly became back-ordered. After another phone call by me (and another failed sales attempt by them)I decided I'd gone down a bad road with these people and was going to cancel. When I told the rude sales guy I was going to cancel he said "Fine, I'll send you an email". If you don't "play ball" and buy all their over-priced accesories you will never see your item at the advertised price.I consider myself lucky to be rid of them. There are also many other rip-off companies on the internet. BEWARE!It would have been fairly easy to find out if this company is factory authorized by Nikon. Of course they are not.I ended up buying my camera from Abe's of Maine https://www.abesofmaine.com/welcome.do;jsessionid=433102E3B6A05D498BFC533BD0012813Needless to say I ended up spending more than $710.00 but my experience with them so far has been great. And I will actually get all the things Nikon wanted me to receive w/my camera. A good clue for me was when I was told no batteries and/or charger came with my camera from 1way. They (and a few other key things) must be purchased through them at an OUTRAGEOUS price.DON'T DO IT! "
"I ordered a D80 package, called in and told it was in stock and ready to go. I opted not to buy the extras they were trying to sell me. Then the next day it was on backorder for 7-10 days. After a week, I called back, now it is 3 weeks backorded. I suspect that because I didn't order the expensive extras they won't actually ship it to me. I see the same comments all over the place on these guys."
"DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.I have made camera purchases from New York companies in the past with no problems. If you purchase from 1wayphoto chances are you will get nothing but grief. I ordered a Canon D30 package with two Canon lenses. I was contacted by the salesman Mr. David Johnson to varify my credit card number, which is a good business practice, or so I thought. He informed me the lens package that was listed on the add are old style lenses and gave me some lip service to updated lenses which would upgrade the function of the camera. All through the conversation I was refering to Canon IS lenses, he never once mentioned Sigma lenses. I agreed to the updated lenses thinking I was getting Canon lenses. I agreed to the order. Of course when my camera package arrived by UPS on time I opened it to fimd Sigma lenses instead of Canon. Was this my mistake or a shipping error. I called Mr.Johnson to varify my order to try to work it out. If this was my mistake, I would work it out. I would accept the Sigma lenses over the Canon lenses. When I asked Mr. Johnson the retail value of the two Sigma lenses he informed me they were $599.00 each. I informed him that I would do some checking and get back with him. Guess what, I could buy the same Sigma lenes for $130.00 each. I called back. He then offered to take the two lenses back and replace them with a Sigma zoom lens that would do it all for me. His price, $800.00. After checking with other reputable companies the retail cost, $440.00. Now we have a problem, and the story only matches most of the other stories on this web site. I called back for a RMA number. I was hung up on for one hour straight. I kept persisting and finally reached the manager, or so he claimed to be the manager, Mr.Greg Hayes. He informed me he would make me a great deal today by taking off $400.00 on the camera package because it would cost me $366.00 to return it because of the 15% restocking fee. I asked to return the lenes only, but no, this is a camera package. You must return the entire package. That was such a great offer, don't you think. Wrong, I'm still out another $500.00 on the total camera package. I asked for the RMA number three time through the conversation. He finally informed me of the process to recieve a RMA number by Email. I returned the entire package by UPS and informed my credit card company to dispute the charges. I am now playing the waiting game to find out what will become of this. I would like to write a vavorable response to this mess, we'll see. Oh, by the way, the full size tripod that was advertised with the camera package turned out to be a 40 inch max high tripod. I'm 6 foot tall. Are there nothing but midgets in Brooklyn NY? "
