"After checking Pricescan.com and Pricegrabber.com, I was happy to see that a company I have dealt with before, Etronics, had one of the lowest prices for the camera I wanted. I visited Etronics' web site and was delighted to see that the camera was in stock and "usually ships in 24 hours". Because I had been a satisfied customer in the past, (you can see that their lifetime record here is very good) I didn't bother to check resellerratings.com and went ahead and placed an order on the evening of Tuesday, 1-16-07. Almost immediately, I received a automated "Thank You For Your Order" email. The next morning, I was delighted to see that it had gone to the third step, "Processing", out of five and I received another automated email stating that the order had "passed the authorization and verification process" and had been "released to the shipping department." The final two steps in the process were "Packaging" and "Shipped" and I expected to see that it had cleared both by the time I arrived home from work that evening. However...
That evening, it was still sitting in the "Processing" stage. Not only that, there were 2 messages on my answering machine from "DJ", a salesman at Etronics. One at 5:52 and another at 6:37. All he said was that it was in regard to my order. I figured it was to sell me accessories so I did not call him back. I did, however, email Etronics service dept. because my camera had not been shipped and it had been well over 24 hours.
The following day, I got yet another call from DJ. I let my answering machine pick it up (for evidence, should I need it) and it recorded the same message as before and time stamped it. Ten minutes later, I got an email from DJ. This is what he wrote: "Thank you again for your online order. In order to speed up the process of your order please call to verbally confirm at (877) 377-6600 extension 211." Speed up??, I wondered, it's already 24 hours BEHIND what you promised on your web site. I wrote him back... "Why do I have to verbally confirm? I've ordered from you before and have never had to do this nor does any other company I've dealt with require this. If this is to try to sell me accessories or an extended warranty, be advised that I want neither. What's the point of being able to order online if I have to speak with someone on the phone as well? If I have to call you in addition to ordering online, I expect the free tripod and screen protector." I also got an email from Mark Billings stating that my first email to the service department didn't go through so I wrote him as well explaining what had transpired to that point, including the unending phone calls from their salesman, DJ, and requested that they "just process my order." Also, by this time, someone on one of my photography forums pointed out that Etronics had a HORRIBLE rating on resellerratings.com. I visited this site to read the stories from other poor souls and my heart sank. I went back to the Etronics web site and saw that the camera was now listed as "ships in 1-2 days". I knew I was in deep doo-doo. I gave them one more day and on the evening of Jan 19th, I checked the Etronics web site and now the camera WASN'T EVEN LISTED! And my order was STILL in the "Processing" stage! So I hit the "cancel this order" link. Almost immediately, I got an automated email stating that they were "Unable to cancel my order". I was LIVID!
I then sent this email to their service address, to Mark Billings, and to the salesman, DJ: "This item has NOT shipped... it still is in "Processing" stage. I attempted to cancel the order tonight and have received an email stating that the order was not voided. There is NO reason this order should not be able to be canceled. I have contacted my credit card company to inform them of what you are doing. I will not accept the package if you ship it and I will have my credit card company deal with you as I will DISPUTE any charge you make to my card. Your service has deteriorated to an unbelievable low since I ordered from you last. Had I had the sense to check out resellerratings.com, I would have seen and read all about the deceitful practices you now stoop to in order to make a profit. See for yourself... (insert resellerratings web site address) how can you people sleep at night? I will be contacting the New York Better Business Bureau to complain about this matter as well."
All weekend, the Etronics web site listed my order as "This order is in the process of being cancelled". DJ had the gall to call me yet again on Sunday, the 21st. Again, I let my answering machine record the message. Finally, today, the order is listed as cancelled. I better not EVER hear from them again. PLEASE save yourself the headache and DO NOT ORDER FROM ETRONICS no matter how good their prices seem to be. Don't put yourself through what I and so many others have been through. It is a horrible experience and could cost you a lot of money. This company, and others like it, are despicable. "
"I placed an order for two lcd televisions on the 16th of December and was told they were in stock and ready to ship. After 3 days I called to make sure the items were going to make it by Christmas and they had not shipped yet so I canceled the order but Jonathan said that he would ship it 2nd day air so I waited. After two days I called back and still had not shipped. Johnathan said he would ship it next day air not to worry. The next day when I called the rep told me that it would not make it by Christmas because the item had not shipped yet but that I should print out a picture and give to my kids for Christmas!! I cancelled the order after verifying that it had not shipped yet. Two days after Christmas the tvs show up at my house so I refuse delivery because I had already cancelled the order and found the TVS cheaper at COSTCO. The items were still billed to my credit card on the 16th even though they did not ship until the 26th. After a week I called about the charge on my credit card and was told that it would be taken care of. On the 25th of JANUARY the charge was still there and Johnathan the sales rep was saying that DHL never sent them back. I called DHL and got the tracking number where they were delivered back to etronics on the 29 of December and that J Shirley signed for the return. So the whole thing was a scam and I still have not recieved my money they have had my money for a month. When I called back to talk to a supervisor like Reggie Singleton or Leo Landau I was put on hold 3 different times and then disconnected. If you read the reviews of this company that is a common theme with them. They get your money and hold to draw the interest. It is sad that they can stay in business."
"I called to order the Canon Powershot G7 since many reputable sites (Dealnews.com and eDealInfo.com) listed the great price etronics.com had it for. Their webpage said that you'd get a free tripod and screen protector (along with standard free shipping) if you called your order in rather than simply doing it online.
I called and was immediately annoyed-- the representative I spoke with kept messing with me-- "ok, how many batteries do you need?" "None, please" ... "WHAT?!? You don't want an extra battery?? What will you do?" ... "I'll recharge the battery..." ... "Ok, but it's your funeral!"
Then! "Ok, how many compact flash cards do you want?" ... "I'm ok-" ... [cuts me off] "Well, we have a special on a 1gb compact flash card..." ... "Ok, but, umm, the camera doesn't take compact flash, it takes secure digital cards." ... "Oh, uhhh, we have those on sale, too!
This kept going until every possible accessory was listed and after ever refusal came a highly annoying "WWWHHHHAAAAT?!?"
Next, I was asked how I wanted to ship it. I asked for the free shipping, which he said was no longer offered and listed a bunch of extremely high-priced options ($20-40). I said that I was looking at the webpage and it listed free shipping to which he replied, "Ohhh, *that* free shipping, ok."
He then mocked my last name (which really isn't that bad of a name, I swear!)
All of this bothered me, but I wanted the camera, so I gave him my credit info, etc.
Then I said, "One last thing, I wanted to make sure I'm getting the free tripod and screen protector that the website lists." He replied: "Yeah, yeah, yeah, shipping is free."
"No, I said, free tripod and screen protector." Then: "Yeah! You get free shipping.. Listen we already talked about this, it'll ship out for free."
"NO! THE WEBPAGE SAYS I GET A FREE TRIPOD AND SCREEN PROTECTOR FOR CALLING MY ORDER IN."
He says: "yeah"
me: "Yeah what?"
him: "Yeah, you get that"
Me: "I get what?"
him: "what you just said."
This went on for another 5 minutes where I kept asking him to tell me, precisely what I got for free, which he wouldn't do-- he just kept saying whatever the websites lists, I'll get.. He *promised me* I'd get it.
I then said, "You know, I'd like to just cancel this, it's getting a little absurb.
him: "WWWHHHAATTT?!? This is a great price!"
me: "Yes, but you are less than useless. I'd happily pay a premium not to deal with people like you."
him: "whoa whoa whoa, I've only been trying to help you out!"
Then we argued MORE about why I shouldn't cancel. Then he said I needed to speak with his supervisor and he put me on hold for about ten minutes (nice classical hold music-- not expecting that!)
The person that picked up was OBVIOUSLY the same guy, except talking really, really, really slowly. It took another 5 minutes of arguing over how I could cancel the order, then, all of the sudden this slow-talking "supervisor" switched into a normal voice and said "ok, thank you for calling, goodbye." and just hungup the phone.
So, if you want to get screwed, order from the company... They might as well call themselves 51s Street Photo or something. Order from Amazon, Newegg, Buy.com, or Frys-- you might pay more but you won't get screwed over..."
"They had the item in stock while most other stores didn't (except one), so I took a chance ordering from them given their reseller rating. I am glad I did. Shipping was super fast (2 days from the order date) with standard shipping. Product was packed well and they offered the best price over anyone on the web. 2 Thumbs up!"

"This is the first review of a store that I have ever written. I buy thousands and thousands of dollars of stuff online every year and I have never had a experience as bad as I have had with etronics.com. It has been so bad that I felt obligated to warn others. I placed an order on December 7, 2006 for 6 items totaling $549.93. They claimed that all items were in stock. They immediately took the entire $549.93 from my credit card even though, according to their written policy, they do not take payment until they actually ship items. After continuous inquiries by me, they finally shipped one of the six items about 10 days later and I am still waiting for my complete order to be shipped. Now, since they don't seem to actually have the items they say they have, I am trying to get my money back. So far, they have not credited my credit card account for the items that they have not shipped. Also, one of the items I ordered was missing a power cable. This electronics equipment is unusable without it, but I can't even get the courtesy of a response from them on that issue. This place is a nightmare to deal with. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ETRONICS.COM!!!!! If you do, you will be sorry!
UPDATE: After several more attempts to get etronics.com to ship me the final item or give me my money back, I've given up and gone to my credit card company to get my money back. It looks to me like they are going to go out of business."

"Consumers should avoid this company!! I received a defective product and returned it according to the company's specifications. Refunds are promised within 5 - 7 days. After one month, I still had not received a refund. Company representatives kept asking for the order number, which was supplied several times. Eventually, I had to contact my credit card company in order to get the issue resolved. "
"the worse experience in 8 years of shopping on-line. I bought Samsung 46" HDTV via Amazon, seller was Etronics, received TV with a defect; scratched screen. After long conversations, etronics finally agreed to exchange TV. Today Dec 18 I finally after multiple phone calls received exchanged TV and it is damaged as well: it has warped plastic face plate - the type of this damage and the fact that packaging was in really bad shape (was probably sent and returned mupltiple times, the box was opened and damaged) tells me that etronics knownly sent me damaged TV... After all talking to etronics over the phone and waiting so long for exchange and receiving damaged TV for Christmas; I had it with them, tomorrow I am talking to my credit card company and initiating process of getting my money out of this 'deal'. I saw positive ratings for etronics but trust me, after talking to their customer service reps and and see no but damaged goods i assure you: they dont care neither about customers nor about products they sell. Avoid etronics at any cost: at the end you will loose money not save, dont be lured by low price from etronics"
"The item I ordered did not ship for over a month after ordering it, despite the fact that they charged my credit card immediately. When I finally emailed to find out what the status of the order was, I received only "your item will ship in 3-5 business days" in response - of course it didn't. It took multiple emails to finally get the item shipped. In the mean time, it missed Christmas by a long shot. If they had been upfront and told me the item was not in stock it would have saved a lot of time. I won't do business with etronics.com again.
UPDATE MAY 2009: Nearly two and a half years after I placed my last order (and 28 months after I submitted a negative review here), I just received an email from Etronics' "VP of Sales and Marketing" offering me a $50 Amazon gift certificate if I were to remove my negative review. This sort of offer is in direct violation of Resellerratings.com's terms and my own personal ethics. The time for Etronics to have improved their image would have been while my order was still current and they were ignoring my communications, not years later!"

"Fraud! Paid for "Brand NEW Factory Sealed" Motorola HS850 Black. Received REFURBISHED item! The product has scratches all over it, shipped in a plastic bag. Customer service would not send new headset after a week of telling me "it is new," then "we package it ourselves," then "if you do not like the product, you can get a refund" but not the shipping! Frauds!"
