"My impression, after my own RATHER FRUSTRATING AND NEGATIVE experience with BatteryRefill.com, and after reading the numerous complaints on this ratings-page, is that they send out just enough refurbished batteries to make it appear as though they are actually a reputable business. But my feeling is that THEY ARE NOT.

I found this seller online through a web-search, and it seemed to be a good alternative to have 2 worn batteries refurbished for a lesser-used laptop/notebook, rather than buying a new one. WRONG. DON'T DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE.

I paid online for 2 batteries to be refurbished. I received instructions on how and where to ship them, which I did via USPS Priority (with tracking). It took me maybe a week to get them shipped out.

I was actually rather satisfied when an email arrived on Oct 25, informing me that "Your battery has been" shipped. It'd been probably a week since they'd received it. I recieved shipment on Nov 2nd.

But my concerns regarding "YOUR BATTERY" were confirmed when the package arrived -- it contained ONE OF MY BATTERIES, BUT NOT THE OTHER. I'd even supplied the serial numbers for each battery, when I shipped, in order to avoid any confusion for them.

Since then, it's been all downhill. I emailed, several times-- NO REPLY TO EMAIL's. Then, maybe 2-3-4 weeks later, I received rather fancifully-designed email "non-replies" from them, simply stating, "Due to a system e-mail routing error, the following e-mail was not received in a timely manner to our support representatives." IN OTHER WORDS, THEY HAVE A PRE-FABRICATED METHOD OF PRETENDING THAT THEIR ONLINE-SYSTEM IS MESSED-UP, as an excuse for not having replied to your email. FRAUD ALERT! They apparently even update it seasonally, because it closed with, "Happy Holidays from all of us here at BatteryRefill.com!!"

I didn't receive one of these FAKE-ERROR emails for about 6 weeks after my first email to them-- but they sent numerous, at the same time, in reply to each email that I'd sent to them-- but not with a copy of my original email. SAVE ALL OF YOUR CONTACT-EMAIL AND DETAILS in regards to these FRAUDS.

The FAKE-ERROR email also contained their 800-number. I see that some others who have posted on this site have somehow managed to talk to someone HUMAN at BatteryRefill.com. I've had no success-- I hear an automated pretend-greeting, and then about 30 seconds later, I get an apology that NO ONE IS AVAILABLE. I leave a message, I GET NO REPLIES TO THE MESSAGES LEFT ON THEIR ANSWERING-MACHINE.

Federal Consumer Law dictates that a merchant must either 1) ship within 30 days, or 2) give you the option of a refund or to extend your order for another set-period of time. Apparently, BatteryRefill.com does not wish to comply.

In essence, THEY HAVE STOLEN MY PERSONAL PROPERTY by retaining my second battery. They show intent to avoid any contact with or from me. Their track-record on this ratings-page, seems to indicate that BATTERYREFILL.COM IS A LESS-THAN REPUTABLE BUSINESS.

For me, TIME IS MONEY-- and these people at BATTERYREFILL.COM have cost me about 4 hours of wasted energy, time and frustration, so far. I'm now taking action.

I searched http://whois.sc to see who the contact person was for the website, and I emailed them at the shown-email address. Again, NO REPLY.

I emailed this Kyung Choi at the above email-address, several times. Today, I emailed both Kyung Choi and support@batteryrefill.com again, to inform them that I am about to take the following action. I'm sure I will receive a prefabricated "error" apology (with Valentines Day Greeting?!?!) from support@batteryrefill.com within the next 2-4-6 weeks-- AND NO ACTION ON THEIR PART.

My email states:
Within 12 hours of this email, I will have
1) filed a FRAUD complaint with the California State Attorney General's office.
2) posted yet another negative rating for you on your growing negative-ratings-page at
http://www.resellerratings.com/seller9342.html
3) filed a FRAUD complaint with the FBI's internet-fraud taskforce.
4) contacted the California Secretary of State's office for the name and location-address of your business.
Within 24 hours of this email, I will have contacted your Sheriff's office, to file a FRAUD complaint and to ask for the arrest of Kyung Choi and/or the owner(s) of the business, registered with the California Secretary of State's office.
Pending the outcome of the above, I will be petitioning the California Secretary of State's office to REMOVE YOUR BUSINESS LICENSE.

“This is our 11783th customer. According to our database, the customer placed an order for two Sony Vaio PCGA-BP1N battery exchanges which cost $42 each on 10/11/2005. The last status on our database is that the battery was shipped on 10/25/2005. The summary of this long posting is that the customer sent us two batteries and he received just one, not two. The customer tried to contact us by e-mail and phone and both didn’t work.

We were really in the middle of the company re-locating process during the end of the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2005. We apologize for all the problems that were caused by this moving process. Pre-paid postage labels can be manually generated online at http://postage.batteryrefill.com. Our automatic phone attendance system gives instructions regarding this matter. We have no idea why this customer received just one battery. If we made a mistake in shipping, there would be no problem sending out another battery to the customer or refunding the missing battery. Please call us during our office hours Monday thru Friday, 9AM to 5PM Pacific Standard Time.

"Update 1-23-06: I received an email from Battery Refill.com that my $95 was being refunded on Friday, 1-20-06. I emailed them that when the funds actually cleared my acct. I'd be happy to edit this comment. I received confirmation today (and another email).

Hrmmph! Begrudgingly, I give them a Somewhat Satisfied even though it took threats of reporting to the feds to get action. So be it.
___________

I ordered/paid for a battery on Jan. 6, 2006, Invoice # 15371, and decided to cancel. Sent email requesting refund on Jan. 7. Wrote back on Jan. 10 at 4 a.m., repeating request.

On Jan. 10, at 4 pm I called number on website - 800-628-0121 – and spoke to Ian. He checked with accounting and was told that all the refunds were being approved by the [head] and I would probably get my money back the end of this week or early next week. I asked him the name of this person – Kay (local phone numbers were changed to 909-947-3686)

No refund or communicatiion. Called today. Jan. 20, left message regarding dates and transactions. Informed them that I will write feds and credit card security at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/billed.htm.

"Made order on Jan 29 and sent out battery using the pre-paid postage label on Feb 4, to recharge a Northgate (Mitac) 8060B notebook, Sanyo brand battery. I sent four emails since the Feb 15 with no response and attempted to call the support number but received a busy signal every time. They advertise a turn around time of a week, but it has been a month already. Finally I received the battery on Mar 02. The battery was returned in a cardboard envelope in bubblewrap with draining/charging instructions. The battery works fine after going through the drain/charge cycle three times, and even holds a longer charge (almost a hour longer)."

“Dear Customer:

We apologize for the delay for your order. We have exchange programs and refill services. We can refill any laptop batteries that exist nowadays and make them run longer than brand new batteries. Our exchange program is designed for common name brand batteries. If the customer's battery belongs to one of our exchange programs, the turn around time is typically 1 or 2 days after we receive customer's battery. So, it usually takes just one week to get the battery back to customer.

If the customer's battery is not one of the exchange program batteries, then the normal turn around time is within 7 days after we receive your battery. It means usually over two weeks to get the refilled battery, because it takes 3-5 days after we receive the battery from the customer, 7 days to finish the service, and another 3-5 days to ship it back to the customer.

However, if the customer's battery is a very rare battery, such as this customer's (Mitac
8060B), it takes longer than our usual 7 days turn around time. Our phone line is always available. Please leave any messages or concerns, and one of our customer care representatives will either answer the phone or call you back and resolve the situation.

"I thought the idea of having my battery refilled to give me better performance than a new battery for less money sounded like a great deal. However what their website doesn't tell you is that the process takes FOREVER and their customer service is horrible.

I placed an order on September 29th, and sent my battery in the same day. It wasn't until October 7th that they sent me an email saying they received it. After having it for 3 weeks, they finally sent it back to me on October 28th. When I received it a few days later, it did not work. It was completely dead and would not charge.

I sent the company several emails which went unanswered. I left a few messages and finally got a call back. I asked how long it would take to get the battery repaired since it took a long time the first time they had it. I was told it should not take very long. I was emailed another pre-paid label and I sent the battery back in. They received it on December 14th, and it's been almost 2 weeks now. I called last week to check the status, and all they would tell me is to call again next week.

I'm sick of waiting, and I would caution anyone thinking of doing business with these people to reconsider."

“This is our 11297th customer. The customer ordered a refill service for a Li-ion battery. According to our database, the initial refill service didn’t work so we got the battery back from the customer for warranty service, and unfortunately we were not able to fix the circuit inside the battery pack. We refunded the full purchase, including shipping. Even though we are able to fix the vast majority of the problems on the Li-ion control circuit board inside the battery pack, some problems we are just unable to fix. Obviously, manufacturers will not fully disclose their circuit designs. Once again, we apologize for the problem.”

"I ordered two batteries for a Thinkpad T-20. One was DOA. The other lasted one deep cycle. I contacted them and sent the batteries back in January. I got the "batteries received" auto-email and then nothing. Repeated e-mail went unanswered. I tried phoning their cust service phone number listed in their e-mail -- it was disconnected. I tried phoning sales -- it rolled over to voice mail. Frankly I thought they were out of business until I saw messages here from March 2006. In the end, I worked with my credit card company and disputed the charge and got my money back. This company is seriously broken."

"Ordered a laptop battery refill for my ASUS W3 battery. Here's the timeline detailing how I still don't have my battery:

5/30/08 - Placed purchase, cc charged
6/3/08 - Received email stating that they received my battery
6/13/08 - Received email asking for delay of 2-3 weeks to clear out orders. Said that they didn't have cells to refill my battery and that they couldn't buy more cells because the price of the American dollar was depreciating.
6/17/08 - Requested that they refund me and charge me only when my battery ships out. Got the refund on my credit card next day.

Since then, I have called them to inquire about my battery about 2-3 times. Every time they tell me that there's a battery cell shortage and they haven't done my refill yet. They offered a refund, but that's useless as they cracked my battery open already, essentially meaning I'll end up with a battery damaged more than when I had sent it in. I've decided to just opt for the battery to be refilled whenever they get the cells in, which could quite possibly be in a couple more months.

My problem with them is that I feel like they're giving me the runaround. They claim they don't have cells, yet their website is still accepting orders for battery refills. They shouldn't be accepting orders at all if they don't have cells and can't even fulfill my order from nearly 2 months ago. Overall, it feels like a very unprofessional way of doing business.

Buyer beware. Just be ready to not have your battery for a good while and feel like they're feeding you excuses whenever you call customer service. You might want to look into just buying a new battery, as I don't know whether or not the $40 savings is worth months of not having a battery."

"They have righted their wrong.

They are a legitimate company after all.

I appreciate that they went out of their way to correct their mistake and even changed their return procedures.

I wouldve gone with them even if they had told me it would take 2 months because its such a deal.

PRIORITY #1:
What they need to do though to eliminate complaints like this in the future is to assure the customer that they arent getting ripped off.

Reassure them that it is going to take some time because they have limited staff. and most importantly make sure you get the transaction completed within the 60 day period or somehow reassure them that you will refund their money even if it goes beyond that. Everyone's number one fear here is getting ripped off. I am certain most people would not complain if those fears were put to rest.

Also, I have to consider what razor thin profit margins they must be running on to refill a battery for 42 bucks. Human labor is expensive especially in california."

“This is our 14838th customer. He ordered one IBM Thinkpad T20 battery exchange for $42 on 12/27/2005 and we shipped back the battery after receiving it on 01/10/2006. We apologize if the battery didn’t work when you received the exchange. Even though we always check the battery before shipping it out, there is still a chance there could be some defect. Our exchange battery policy is that, if the battery doesn’t work, we send out a replacement battery with return box (depending on availability) or we e-mail the customer a Pre-paid postage label to return the battery back to us for repair. We have enough stock of T20 series batteries most of the time, since it is one of our best selling models. We can send you out the replacement battery with return box to return the defective one with. We tried to call this customer, but we could not get a hold of him. We are working hard to meet the increasing volume of customers’ demands. We continue to hire more employees to increase our daily capacity. We will also create an online warranty and RMA request procedure to expedite situations like this one. We will go ahead and post the URL for this new procedure within 24 hours.

Our company address is below:
eBattery, Inc
739 E Cedar St
Ontario, CA 91761

We actually have had a few walk-in customers on a daily basis. They all found us from the Internet like this customer and happened to live in the Los Angeles area. Even though we don’t encourage customers to bring batteries to our corporate office, we are more than welcome to walk-in customers.

"I placed an order on 5/7. My card was charged on 5/8. Today (5/16) having not received my battery, I called customer (dis)service, and was very flippantly told they will ship it out in a day or 2. Charging a credit card for an item not yet shipped is illegal, but when I questioned them about this, I got a "who cares" attitude from the phone drone. Was planning on buying at least 1-2 more batteries from them, won't happen now."

" On July 17, 2008, I ordered a battery cell replacement from eBattery at www.batteryrefill.com . I received, from them a paid shipping label, with which I shipped off my original laptop battery. Their website claims a 5-7 business day turn-around time from receiving to shipping. I had received an email from them on July 25, 2008, claiming they had received the battery I sent to them to be refilled.

I originally contacted them by phone on August 14, 2008. I figured that given their quoted turn-around time, I should have received my battery back by then. When I called the merchant, I was told by an automated message that all their representatives were busy, and so I left a voicemail message. My call was not returned, though I did receive an email the following day.

The email I received said that their shipment of battery cells had been delayed, and would arrive on August 23. It would take 3-4 days to replace the cells in my new battery, after which they would overnight mail the battery back to me. They offered me a refund at this time, but I consented to waiting.

On August 29, I sent the company an email, requesting a status update on my battery, since I had heard nothing about the batteries being replaced, nor about my battery being shipped. To date, I have received no response to this email.

On September 4, I once again attempted to contact the company, by phone. This time, I was again told all the representatives were busy by an automated message. When transferred to voicemail, another automated message said that the mailbox was full. So I was unable to leave a message.

Since I can't even successfully contact the company, it seems like the company has taken my money, and now refuses to do the service they charged me for."

“Dear Customer:

We had problems getting our cell supply on time for this month (May 2005). We are getting factory fresh high-capacity cells from South Korea every first week of the month. However, there was delay in shipment in April since the cells were delivered by vessel (across the ocean). We shipped all the delayed packages by next day delivery service.
