I have received an okay experience with this company. To elaborate, It began when I ordered a ProStar M570TU from their website, customized it, and had the order finalized on Sep. 7th, a Sunday.  
 
I understand that it might take a while to get the payment from the credit card company and get the computer underway, but by the 10th (Wednesday), the order was still unprocessed and I have received no communications from the Discountlaptops to why my order was being delayed, so I had to proactively email them, and after 1-2 days, we got the details of shipping vs. billing address worked out. Afterwards, the payment was worked out, and my order was underway.  
 
However, after nearly 2 weeks of "In Production," my laptop still has not been shipped to my house, and near the latter portion of these couple weeks, I have sent several emails asking about when my order was going to be complete and shipped, and they have replied with empty promises of "next week," or "this week," or "today, or tomorrow" with no specific dates, and no reason why it was delayed.  
 
Fortunately, after 3 weeks of waiting, I was contacted by DiscountLaptops about my order, and they let me know that the reason my order was delayed was due to problems with the manufacturer and the shipping for my laptop has been upgraded to 3 days shipping.  
 
Update:  
 
I have received my laptop on Oct. 6, 2008 and after unpacking and turning it on, looks like everything works, so I'm happily typing this update now on it.  
 
Overall, while I believe that they should have kept me updated on the status of my laptop, I'm glad that it has finally came. May recommend to Friends and Family.

certainly the most discounted laptops on the web, but there shouldn't be any price difference in the configurations; meaning if there is a low price laptop that has 160 GB memory for an additional $110 then it should be $110 for the same 160 GB in a higher end model. online gaming is cheap but it s about getting the laptop first though. it took me 4 months to save up for a laptop. it's not low end for sure but it's not the top rated in which case i could have afforded but since the config.'s differ in price by 100's of dollars i had to go with what i got. oh you should also look into throwing in a T-shirt with your logo on it. i'd be proud wear it!

Good website. Very quick customer service. Got a phone call the next day after placing my order since I placed it at 11pm at night. Had a question that I sent a email about and got a quick reply and follow ups as Greg tried to find out what was happening.

On the 25th of October, I ordered a Sager 2090 from Discount laptops. Within fifteen minutes of placing the order, a representative called me and said that the screen I'd ordered was on backorder, and did I wish to change to the cheaper screen, which would allow the laptop to ship out in a couple of days. I said definitely, in fact, take the money and put it towards 4 gigs of RAM and I'll make up the difference. He said ok and did it.  
 
The laptop shipped out that day, and I had it in four days.  
 
I am very very happy with DiscountLaptops and would love to buy my next Laptop through them. They did everything Dell claimed they couldn't, and when Dell screwed me over for two months backordering, then canceled the order with no notification, DiscountLaptops came through and I had my laptop far sooner than the next possible ship date for a 1720.

The day after I made the order, customer services called to verify everything before billing. The technician was able to answer my still lingering questions with ease, and made the whole process pleasant.  
 
The laptop I ordered was backed up until Nov 2, according to the Sager website. It made me happy when I received a confirmation for my ship date as October 16 - cake happy.  

Kinda quirky, but great low prices and great personal service.

Excellent personalized service. I was kept updated and informed of the production delays affecting my laptop order. They went the extra mile, which they didn't have to do and which I hadn't requested, to facilitate shipping because they knew I'd had to wait almost 40 days.

Great service. Received my laptop as promissed. Buying from Discountlaptops.com was a breeze.

Everything went smoothly, and the customer service was really wonderful. The prices are competitive and they shipped my notebook quickly. After placing an order, they called for a confirmation and responded promptly to my emails. The shipment arrived intact and neatly packaged. If I need anything notebook related in the future, I would look to this company first.

I dealt With DiscountLaptops.com after reading many pages of info about laptops and peoples experiences. I had called and wrote a few of the other laptop resellers and by far Matthew was patient, prompt, and helpful when answering my questions.  
 
I was on the cusp of newer laptops coming out and what impressed me most was Matthews understanding and willingness for me to ask even more questions, and his non imposing sales technique that let me take my time. They have been the best of laptops in horse power for their price, though my 1st purchase w/ them is kind of sour in 2001, laptop came with defective cdrom and took ages to ship (3months) to my ship (guess I can't blame them, but 3months to ship is long long time by then my top of the line became like top 10)  
 
This purchase however is much improved from my previous experience. W/ paypal (still slow transaction) they shipped my product in 2 days (reverse ground). I'm very much impressed, though the software/drives that came w/ it had a little problem w/ vista that took hours to figure out (bought the device w/o os). So my only complain is softwareshipped was only for windows xp and not for all systems. When i tried to install the webcam an error code 14 came out (bad programming?).

Complain: spend 5 hours for drivers and figuring out how to use the functions (reading manuals).  
Also they should state what reverse shipping is... I almost thought my laptop was shipped elsewhere lol.

Well, after many months in research we decided to purchase two ASUS G1 notebooks, so once the model dilemma was resolved the time came to decide where to purchase them. At the time Best Buy didn't have it in stock yet (fortunately, since BB does not provide the same warranty and extra goodies) so we started to research on notebookreview.com and obviously on resellerratings.com.
