"It would be hard to find worse service. After no response in 24 hours I wrote back. They wrote back that there trying to keep there prices down. Low prices but didn't get my books."
"I have attempted to order the same book three times through Alibris.Attempt 1: Rec'd reply that book no longer available, acc't credited.Attempt 2: Book never rec'd. Acc't creditedAttempt 3: Wrong book rec'd. Expecting acc't to be credited.Frankly, they still show a copy of the book for sale but I"m reluctant to pay $25 when previous copies were being sold for $5 and $16 and the most Alibris is offering to help w/increased cost is $1 or $2 coupon.I know that Alibris is just the middle man for a bunch of booksellers but at some point they need to accept accountability for a negative shopping experience and help compensate for a miserable experience but their reply is "Too bad, try again." I wonder if they aren't actually based out of another country like India."
"I don't even remember how I got to Alibris in the first place. I was looking at the book prices and I thought wow great prices I think I'll try buying books here.Big mistake.I ordered one book on Sept 28 and upon checking a few days later, I realized that my order was never updated. It showed up as pending. So I sent an email to the seller and they said they never received my order. What the flying f. I was already charged over $100 so I was not happy. I responded immediately and they emailed Alibris to resolve my issue. A few days later, they were like "Alibris gets final approval for every transaction before shipping items. In this case of this order, there's a question as to either the customer or the credit card being used that hasn't been resolved yet" um hello? I never got any resolution email regarding my credit card or else I would have responded immediately. Items were supposedly expected to arrive October 7 which would be today. I needed it by today but their herp derp miscommunication fiasco is preventing me from ever wanting to order here again. I told them to cancel the order in which they now did. They said I should get my money back within 2-5 business days. We'll see. UPDATE: I got my refund within 2 business days. But I'm still not returning to this site to order books."
"Terrible! My book supposedly shipped on Aug 31st. Today is Sept 26th, and I have not received the book! I contacted Alibris, they refunded my shipping charges, and then they told me to contact them again if the book does not arrive 30 days after the ship date. 30 days for shipping!! This is absurd! Also, beware of their return policy. They have a separate page for libraries (where you can actually return the book) and one for us poor saps. When looking to return my book (from a separate order- this book actually came, but not in any sort of timely fashion) I clicked on the Return Policy link located at the bottom of their home page- and unknown to me, it took me to the library return page. I diligently followed the instructions, and sent back my book. Well, as it turns out, they do not accept returns (except if it was their error) and because my book did not include the required return slip (as stated on the regular return page, not the library return page) my book was discarded and no refund issued!!!! WHAT! Please DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE! With is kind of service, THEY WILL BE OUT OF BUSINESS in no time! I've lost one book to the EVIL RETURN POLICY and may never even receive my other book! AWFULAWFULAWFULAWFUL"
"DO NOT ORDER FROM ALIBRIS! It is one of the most horrible website I have ever ordered my book from. I do not think I will ever be ordering from this site again. I ordered a book on the 25th of August, and it was supposed to arrive by September 9th. and I got email from them on Sep 11th, that my order has been cancelled. I am pretty sure that Alibris is just playing dirty games with everyone to scam us out of our money."
"I ordered a textbook from alibris.com. About a week later, I received an email informing me that the order is cancelled because they do not have the book. I wonder why they did not tell me in the first place when I ordered on their website if they did not have the book. alibris.com seems to not understand a textbook order is time-sensitive and delay or cancellation can have a big adverse effect. When I checked my credit card account, I found that they had charged my credit card right after I made the order. However, I still do not see the refund to my account even though I received the cancellation email two days ago. When I call the company, I was told by the answering-machine they have no person to answer the phone and that the only thing I can do is to send them an email and wait for their reply. But in their cancellation email, the email address is email@example.com. This is the first time I ordered a book from alibris.com. I regret that I did not read reviews from others who ran into similar problems with alibris.com. I will definitely try to avoid buying books from the site in the future. In contrast, the other textbooks I ordered at the same time from Amazon.com had already arrived a couple of days ago."
"I like this site. It really has everything books. Unlike my local bookstore. They always want to "order" what they don't have in stock. Who wants to wait that long and then hope the bookstore even remembers to call you when it comes in.Alibris says they have 150 million books in stock. That's insane! That's like every book ever. I like having access to so many books. Just the click of mouse and I'm in book heaven. "
"I have bought a lot of text books from many different websites, and this is by far the worst. I ordered 3 books from them this semester, and they canceled all 3 orders because the books weren't in stock. It took over a week to get my money refunded. I paid extra for expedited shipping, because I wanted the books to arrive to my step-daughter before the start of classes. On the last day that the book should have arrived I emailed Alibris and asked them about the status of the book, and it took them a day to respond and tell me they will contact the seller and that it would take 2 days to get me any information. 3 days later(5 days total because of the weekend) they emailed me and told me my order was canceled because it was not in stock. There is no way to contact Alibris by phone, and the customer service via email, is a 2-3 day wait. It is really rare for me to write a review, but I had such an awful experience trying to buy books that I wanted to warn other shoppers!"
"It's not worth it! I'm in my Senior year so I've bought and rented a lot of books this is the 1st time it has been so difficult. 1st the seller sent me the wrong book. I returned it with tracking, he had it back within 2 days. 2 weeks later I'm still waiting on my refund. Alibris has no interest in helping resolve the issue. Roll the dice if you want but I'll stick with Chegg from now on."
"Excellent Source!I was looking for a copy of a book I used during my studies at Juilliard. I wanted to give a copy to a student of mine, only to find it was out of print. All of the other Classics To Moderns books are still available and in print but this one was not. Alibris came through with flying colors, finding me a seller who had a beautiful copy for less than $10.00! As compared to brand new at $150.00!! I'm happy, my student is thrilled and I have MY copy back after loaning it to him. My student loves playing themes and then making up his own 'variations', so this was the perfect book to teach him how the "Masters" did it. So glad Alibris is here to help those of us looking for out of print books, music, etc... Great job!"
"I have long enjoyed finding both new and used books and CDs at nice prices and which are sometimes not available elsewhere. I was really happy to find an older book in "like new" condition and at a very competitive price. Whether new or used, I enjoy the really nice prices. The shipping costs more than I'd like, but pretty much the same as other sites. The coupons help. When I can find what I seek at Alibris at a good price, I order from Alibris."
"I'm so glad my daughters bought me a computer. They felt it would lighten my day being confined to a chair resulting fromn my legacy of the Korean War and over the past 4 years, requiring more time in the hospital for 6 major surgeries to attempt to correct problems I didn'[t even know I had. I made it through the entire War and I love history but now I can sit back and read about instead of being shot at by it. If I, an 81 year old novice with a computer, find ALIBRIS an easily manageable site to make purchases, then there's no excuse for anyone not to do so. They couldn't make it any easier. I'm usually intimidated by these "monster" machines' but 'damnit', I mastered it this time and I'm proud as hell with myself. And they have coupons. Its a great deal and the deliveries of books brighten my days."
"Terrible service. Terrible shipping. Never received my book. waiting on my refund. Avoid them at all costs- it's for your benefit!"
"TERRIBLE customer service. Had to go to my credit card company to get my refund. Their "independent" seller sent me a "receipt" for a refund but never posted it to my PayPal account. This, after sending me a damaged book for $60.00 Many emails to Alibris and Econgo (neither of which accepted responsibility) and a lot of runaround later, I'm still working on it (6 weeks so far). What a rip-off!! I suggest you find another way to buy your books and save yourself the ridiculous hassle! I guess that Amazon's excellent customer service and selection have spoiled me."
"Alibris is an excellent source for books; their network of booksellers is huge. The issue is their poor shipping choices.Alibris' free shipping is a sad joke. My books shipped 14 days ago (11 shipping days ago) and I still don't have it. What is really strange, is that I specifically ordered it via a store within my state for this very reason. So, a store that can be no more than 6hrs from my doorstep is taking at least 12 shipping days.Amazon Prime: New copy of Philip K Dick novel $10.99 free 2-day UPS.Alibris: Same exact book, $10.15, free saver shipping (they don't have free 2-day), I'm still waiting going on 2 weeks. Will you pay a little more? Sure, a matter of cents, but as the saying goes, 'a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.'AmazonPrime does costs $80 per year. My family has made that back from the shipping savings of items that rarely have free shipping otherwise, and because of this, we have the added bonus of free 2-day for my book habit."
