"If you enjoy waiting for weeks for an appliance to be shipped, by all means buy from this merchant! If you enjoy receiving UPS tracking numbers from a vendor that are invalid because the order wasn't shipped until days after the electronic notice went to UPS that a package was coming, then buy from this merchant! If you like contacting a vendors customer service via e-mail and NEVER receiving a reply, then you are going to REALLY enjoy this vendor! I read the reviews and bought from this vendor despite being forwarned, and would NEVER LET A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER BUY FROM A.J. MADISON. It just isn't worth the angst that comes with dealing with this unresponsive, screw the customer service outfit!"

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you incurred with your order. We strive for customer satisfaction and work hard to insure all our orders are delivered as soon as possible. Most of our orders ship within 48 hours and delivered within a few business days. Your order was slightly delayed and delivered within 2 weeks from the date of purchase. Once again, we are sorry for all the inconvenience. We hope to see you back at AJ Madison.”

"I ordered a 'fridge from AJMAdison on Sept 29th and was told I would get it in about a week and a half. After about 3 weeks, I started calling their 1-800 number, but they never answer it, their office is often closed, I had to wait least 30 minutes on hold to get to talk to someone, and they never returned one of the 5 or so voice messages I left or called me with an answer when they said they would. Since couldn't get a status on my order, I left a voice message to cancel it, and a customer service rep called me back right away. She convinced me to keep my order with them, that the item had been on back order for 4 weeks (although no-one had told me that before). Now, its Nov 4th, it was supposed to have been delivered yesterday but I have no idea where it is, their office is already closed (it's 2:30 pst), and they haven't returned my calls ..."

"It's simple to order and customer service on the sales end works well. But, BUYER BEWARE! I have been involved in a customer service nightmare for 2 weeks now, in an attempt to have a refund credited to my account for a damaged refrigerator which I refused to accept. I ordered a dishwasher, range and refrigerator. I am satisfied with the appearance of the first two items, but haven't installed them yet. I was told, upfront, that I should inspect merchandise and refuse delivery of damaged goods. The freight company was marginal in it's ability to allow me to track the items, and in its ability to deliver the goods (i.e., they initally tried to deliver these appliances with one driver, driving a truck with no lift). We refused the damaged refrigerator. I tried for three days solid to talk to someone about the refusal and my desire for a refund. I left specific phone numbers of where I could be reached personally. When I finally got a call-back from "Irving", it was three days later, on a voice mail, saying the store would be closed for the next two days. When I finally spoke with Irving, the customer service supervisor, he was rude to me. Although the company claims 100% customer satisfaction, Irving continues to try to talk me into taking the refrigerator and allowing them to repair the damage (dent in the back of the unit and a damaged door). I refused this as well as some money taken off of the unit, saying that: 1. I don't want to take a chance on damaged goods; and 2. I don't want to deal with AJ Madison anymore because they do not follow through on their claims.

Customer service is a nightmare. I tried again today (a Wednesday) and voice recording says the store is closed for two days. I spent 1 hour on hold yesterday trying to get back to Irving, who is evidently the only person who can talk with customers about damaged goods and refunds. It is one and one half weeks now that I have been awaiting a refund of $2199 for the refrigerator I charged on my credit card and which has not been refunded to me. DO NOT SHOP WITH AJ MADISON.

"I did not have a good experience with this company. I'm not sure where the people who wrote satisfactory reviews are located but if you live in California, I suggest you purchase from some other company. The delivery company that they use, AM Trucking, is based in L.A. and is very difficult to work with. Scheduling the delivery of my appliances took 3-4 weeks of scheduling and rescheduling because these guys can't come up with their delivery schedule until the day before. When they finally arrived, they said they did not have the stacking kit for the washer/dryer and left the appliances without completing the installation and were not able to return until the following week. When they returned, they said they could not install the dryer because I did not have a gas hose ready for them. No one asked me to purchase one beforehand and they had 4 weeks to do that. They did in the end go to the local hardware store to get a gas hose. Then they didn't want to install the vent hose because they were not sure if installing it would affect the vent for the range hood which is close by. By then I gave up and told them to just leave it and I would get a friend to do it. So a month and a half after I purchased the appliances, I am still not able to use them.

AJ Madison's customer service line takes half an hour to reach a live person to speak to each time I called and the people aren't very helpful unless you tell them you're upset and want a refund etc. During my last call, I had to insist they get the supervisor and granted, she did take care of things and give me a refund for the delivery. But the $160 or so that I saved was not worth all the trouble I went through.

If you are the persistent sort, have a lot of time on your hands and don't mind dealing with situations like I and others here have described, I suppose it is worth saving a few bucks and going with them.

I only wish I had done research on AJ Madison before purchasing from them. "

"I purchase 1 avanti EWC28 Thermo Electric Cooler on 4/24/05 and recived it on 06/14/05. I sent them TWO e mails and received a response each time that I would receive the merchandise within one week. I also called them TWICE 18005703355. Fist time I was told again that the item was in and I would receive it in one week, The second time was two weeks later and again I was told that the merchandise was just received by them. I told them that if I din't receive the item in one week then I wanted the order cancelled. I received it today June 14th. Looks like they sell items that they don't keep in stock and they wait untill they get enough orders for the item and then they place their order. I been ordering things on the web for years and never had a problem till now. I would newer purchase another item from them."

"I ordered a Bluestar cooktop May 12. They said 2-3 weeks delivery. It's already June and no cooktop. I call and they say the manufacturer has them on backorder for 4 weeks. I call the manufacturer and they say BS. I should be able to get it in a week. I call AJ Madison back and they ask to be able to locate one. THey tell me they found one and will ship it. That is June 5. I still don't have it, I get a busy signal when I call, and there is no resolution to this. I have countertop people coming to measure and I have no cooktop or downdraft vent for measurement. I am really considering suing them. This is ridiculous. After reading the other reviews, my guess is that they have cash problems it would not surprise me if they went out of business. They stink, their CS people stink, and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. They tried to sell me another product when they said the manufacturer had the cooktop backordered for 4 weeks. They are liars. Don't buy from them. "

"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY***BUYER BEWARE***

They will ONLY answer the phone to take your order.

Call about a problem and no one will talk to you or return phone messages or emails!!!!

The minute the salesmen hears it is a problem he puts you on eternal hold. Customer service never answers the phone and never returns the calls.

The WORST service I have ever experienced in my 55 year old life.

All they care about is taking your order and money."

"I purchased an electric washer/dryer combo--my mistake. It turns out our room wasn't equipped to handle an electric. Fine. So I decided to return it--minus the 15% restocking fee--for a different washer/dryer. That's when the trouble began.

The rep forwarded me to the manager, Irving Ross, who informed me that I needed to take pictures of the unit from all angles to ensure the unit is in resellable condition. He also told me he needed the box, again so it can be resold. Of course, it didn't come in a box. The delivery people had already taken it out of the box when they rang our bell. We discovered they left it in our trash area, so we got the box back. Then he informed me that he needed pictures of the box. After we gave him all this, he said he needed to review the information.

After several messages--he never once picked up the phone when I called--and the passage of two months, we finally decided to dispute the charge. Mr. Ross called back, not knowing I had just disputed the charge, and said this was all just a great misunderstanding and he'll take care of everything. However, he later found out I had already disputed the charge and then told me that all bets are off and that we'll let the bank decide the issue.

The bank eventually resolved the dispute in our favor. I talk to Mr. Ross to see if he wanted his washer/dryer back. He said he would only take it back if I paid for the delivery. At this point, we just wanted it out of our house. I gave him a credit card number, and he scheduled delivery. I immediatelly called the bank and asked them to cancel my card and send me a new number.

The truck finally came to pick up the unit--after nearly 5 months (mind you, we live in a tiny Manhattan condo, so this thing was in our living room for all that time).

Mr. Ross in particular was condescending and insincere--a class act, that one."

"Customer service at AJ Madison is some of the worst I have ever experienced. I was put on hold forever, and each time the person I finally did reach was rude and unhelpful. They sold me a four year warranty on my appliances which the repair company will not honor, because AJ Madison registered them wrong. I spent almost $10,000 with this company and I've spent hours on the phone trying to get assistance to no avail. I would never buy from them again. "

"I would avoid placing ANY major appliance order via AJ MAdison unless you are comfortable with atrocious customer service and lengthy processing delays. I placed an order for an LG Refrigerator and I was assured by a telephone operator that the item was in stock and would arrive in 7 to 10 business days. After 8 business days (12 days later) I checked on my order and to my surprised it was still processing. I called to check on the order and was told that it was being shipped to AJ Madison at the end of the week. For those of you keeping track that is 11 business days after placing the order... and that date would start the 7-10 day shipping period. I called back within 10 minutes to cancel my order and was told that now my order had magically shipped and couldn't be cancelled. Its been 24 hours since my order "shipped" and the shipping company still has no record of my order in their system, and frankly I have no faith in AJ Madison having shipped the item. Based on my experience with customer service over the last several weeks I feel like AJ Madison either lost my order until I called back, or listed the order as shipped to lock in my order when they realized their mistake.

I ordered a washer/dryer set from another appliance retailer and had none of these problems, my items arrived within the stated time period. Although AJMadison offers a competitive price online I will NOT do business with them again if I need any item in a timely manner."

“AJ Madison is one of the largest authorized dealers in the country of appliances. We keep a large inventory in stock. However, this particular unit was on major manufacturer backorder. The customer called our customer service department and requested for this to shipped ASAP. Our goal is to provide 100% customer satisfaction so we arranged for the unit to be expedited and shipped out the same day.Additionally, we advise all our customers that it takes up to 48 hours for all shipments to become trackable. We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. ”
