"They sold me a three month membership on living social, then tried to use my credit card to turn it into an ongoing membership at $29/mth. That was not what I PAID for when I bought the 3 month membership, nor was it in the contract for the three month membership. As some one in law and with experience in contracts, I can tell you they're way out of bounds on this little move."
"I've been a member of zip.ca for a little over a month and so far everything has gone well. The service works just as advertised. One thing that annoys me, though, is that some of the more obscure titles they have listed in their catalog are not actually in stock. You have to become a member before there's any indication that these titles aren't available. I find this practice misleading and have to wonder if they don't deliberately do this to make their catalog appear larger than it really is. With some titles that are unavailable, they say that if you add them to your "ziplist," they will consider ordering them in, but of the dozen or more titles on my list that are "on order," one has yet to materialize. I added these to my list on the first day I joined. I'm not holding my breath for them to show up.Also note that the membership fees listed on their site do not include sales tax.Despite these criticisms, I'm generally happy with the service and can recommend it without hesitation.(I see that the five reviews preceding mine all give the service low scores, but those reviews are over 5 years old. I can only assume that zip.ca have gotten their act together since then because I haven't experienced any of the problems mentioned.)"
"I have had nothing but trouble from zip.cawhen I registered my account did not get activated. No phone number for support. Over 5 days to get an email reply.I was so annoyed. Finally after many days and several emails to suuport they said my account was cancelled. However, I just got my credit card bill and I have still been charged $80 for the 3 month plan. Looks like another 3 weeks of emails to try to get a credit issued. Further, I was unable to delete my credit card information from their database.zip.ca... No thanks. Zip.ca is the worst excuse for an internet business I have encountered since the internet began... and I buy a lot of stuff on the net."
"DO NOT SIGN UP! Company will take your money, even if you sign up for trial period and then keep charging you monthly. They will also tell you that they haven't received any DVD's you ship back to them. They will close all your outstanding incidents and they do not provide phone support. PLEASE SOMEONE STOP THEM!"
"DO NOT SIGN UP!!!Eventually they will "lose" or "forget" to a movie and you will get screwed.I returned a movie at the SAME TIME as 2 other movies and they just didn't update my account for one of them.THEY HAVE NO PHONE NUMBER, and the online support is completely useless.IT HAS BEEN A MONTH!....and nothing. As soon as my account gets fixed I am canceling SO FAST.TRUST ME DO NOT SIGN UP....YOU WILL BE SORRY!"
"Customer service is VERY poor!No phone number or address to contact them. Only by email and it can take weeks or they don't even answer.Takes 7-14 days to receive one DVD."
"I found the Zip.ca shopping experience to be mediocre at best, offering a great service but very little value for money. It took 18 days for my 4 DVDs to make it to me and then back to them. I cancelled after 2 weeks. It wasn't until after I cancelled that I learned that Zip.ca violates both their own privacy policies and federal privacy laws. In particular, after you cancel your membership they will keep your credit card and personal information indefinitely "...incase you will be renewing again (as many members do)". I spent 2 months trying to get this problem dealt with, and trying to get them to remove my information from their system, and it was like beating my head against a wall. Eventually, they told me that I might find more information about their abuses of my privacy "on the Internet". At that point, I filed a complaint. They are currently under investigation by the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner.Full story:http://www.mikesmit.com/page.php?id=3"
