"ZipZoomFly has good prices, and a well-organized search feature, however, I encountered some problems with the site and service. The notebook I ordered (which has a sizable rebate attached) went out of stock, yet there was no indication of this when I ordered, or in the following week when the status should have been updated to inform other customers. They were slow to communicate with me about it, and failed to accommodate what I thought a reasonable request - to refund a portion of my payment to reflect the price reduction that occurred while I was waiting for my notebook to be shipped. Now, 10 days later, my parcel is still on the other side of the country, the rebate period is getting closer to expiration, and the laptop I was attempting to replace has failed completely, taking my hard drive and all my data with it (optical drive had failed, hence the purchase of a new computer). If you are interested in the details keep reading. . . in the shopping screen, they have a "notify me" button which shows up instead of “add to cart” when an item is backordered. This is very handy, except when it does not work. My backordered notebook still had the “add to cart” button, and while they state that this will happen when the system update lags because of high order volume, they did not fix it (even though I informed them about it) during the entire week between my order and their restocking of the item. They also state that they will send an e-mail with cancellation instructions for items that are backordered for more than 1 day. I did not receive this e-mail (I noticed the “backordered” status in the tracking info on the site) for days, and had to call customer service to get them to send it to me. When I requested that they refund some of my money to reflect the new price, their only response was, “inform us if you would like to cancel.” Bah. Poor communication. Poor customer support. Very disappointed. I hope you have better luck than I did!"

"Ordered a hard drive that turned out to be defective. They charged for return shipping and a 15% restocking fee. Contacted them directly and through BBB regarding this issue and was told to take a hike ...

What kind of business do the run? I would call charging restocking fees for defective merchandise fraud ... "

"Rebates on Asus computers. The $30 rebate on Asus 1000HE computers are highly deceptive. the fine print on the "Terms and conditions" of the rebate form requires you to apply for a Citibank debit card and the rebate is credited to that card. If you want a check you must get the card and then request a check. This appears to be a highly deceptive offer that forces you to get a Citibank debit card."

"I will NEVER, EVER order from this company again. I had placed a few orders previously with them for fairly large amounts, so I decided to go with them when they advertised a good price on an ATI All-In-Wonder X800XT AGP video card. BOY was that ever a mistake!

To start with, they were slow with the shipping by an extra couple of days. Normally, this might be enough to really annoy me from a regularly-speedy company, but after the rest of what happened, it's barely a footnote.

The outer shipping box was in perfect condition when I received it. However, the interior box was slightly crushed, including the plastic antistatic packaging inside the ATI box (retail model), as well as an obvious large tear near the corner of the box. One can conclude from this that Zipzoomfly shipped me a damaged box (and at that point, I was thinking the product too) on purpose.

So, after carefully inspecting the card for any physical damage, I decide to excuse the box's condition and pop the card into my computer. After installing the drivers and starting to run some games, I start seeing artifacts (yes, the system was very well cooled in an Antec 1040B chasis with a Fortron 550w PSU in it on an Abit AN7 motherboard).

Soon, the card begins displaying artifacts in 2d mode in Windows, as well as scoring below the normal amount in 3dmark when I tested it with that. Concluding the card was obviously damaged (and likely damaged when they shipped it to me by the box's condition), I called them up calmly and explained the situation. I was given a biting response basically saying that it had to be my fault and a system incompatibility. After a 30+ minute phone call of being transferred and ran-around endlessly with claims that I was trying to defraud them, they finally agreed to let me ship back the card for a replacement or refund, as long as they determined the card was indeed defective. Annoyed as all get-out at this point, but still being calm on the line, after I threatened a charge-back, they agreed to a refund in full (again with the condition on it being defective in their testing).

So, I shipped back the card, and a couple of days later, I get an email from them with screenshots of ONLY a 3dmark window and a random few screenshots from other games/etc., as well as a screenshot of the ATI control panel page that shows an X800XT AIW card. The email claimed that the card worked fine in their testing, and basically being rude toward me and saying it must have been my poor installation, they said that they would not be refunding the restock fee of 15% (about $62).

I called them and explained again that the card had NOT worked in my system, and was sold as a new, working card, but was blown off and told basically to have a bad day. I then filed a chargeback with my credit card company for the restocking fee after another call to confirm they absolutely would not refund the fee for their defective product, when their site explicitly said they would not charge restocking fees for defective returns.

So to sum it all up, they were slow to ship, shipped a damaged product from their warehouse to me, gave me a run-around on a replacement/return, then lied about whether the card worked and told me to go screw myself basically and enjoy losing $62 and a lot of hassle. Their CSR's were rude, unknowledgable, and slow to answer the phone. I would never order from them again, and will warn off all of my family/friends from doing so as well. There is absolutely no way the order could have been worse with them, and I have never had such a terrible experience with an online merchant ever."

"On December 7th, I placed an order as a Christmas present. The laptop's battery would not hold a charge. Called ZipZoomFly and they requested me to pay to send it back and it be sent in to be checked and if was not working, they would send a new laptop. After never being notified two weeks later I called to inquire about the order and ZipZoomFly on the phone said they did not have the item in stock and will refund the order. Seeing ZipZoomFly had the exact same laptop but in blue I placed an order online for it. Called and had them change the shipping to two day because of the fact I paid $24 for me to send the defective laptop from before back. After waiting a week and checking on it myself and with no notification come to find out this item is on backorder. I called ZipZoomFly today (Jan 8th) to cancel and refund my order because of the terrible quality of service I had. The refund for both orders is currently being processed. It is unfortunate that I spent hours of my time and $24 to acquire nothing from this company. "

"Horrible experience. I am staying with newegg. I ordered a Motherboard and Processor from them, There site said both were instock, the next date my order status changes, to shipped all the items show as being shipped, with the same tracking #. So I am excited the day it is suppose to arrive I run home to open my box to find out they shipped only the motherboard, without telling me. To top it off they billed me for the 399.00 processor as well. So I checked there site, still says in stock, also to verify I checked my credit card statement yep they billed me for it all, I call them up to complain, not only are they unsimpathetic, they don't offer to rush ship my processor, which they claim just came in stock. If they don't do something to rectify this I am sticking with newegg, with whome I have never had a bad experience."

"I placed an order for an item that was shown to be in stock and was supposedly shipping within 24 hours. My credit card was charged the same day and I received an email stating that my order was being processed.
For the next 3 days i saw no change in my order status and i wrote an email using their contact form as well as leaving a voice mail since i could not get a hold of anyone. No one responded. The next day i called repeatably until i finally reached someone, they said i need to talk to the 'verification department'... there no one ever picked up, it always went straight to the voice mail. So i called the customer service again (and again and again) and when i finally reached some one they asked if i could verify my shipping address.. i did and then they told me the item was out of stock and i had to wait 3 weeks. Even though the item was still shown to be in stock and shipping within 24 hours on their site.
I order from this store specifically because it stated that the item was available and would ship within 24 hours. Without any notification i was simply delayed to the point where the delivery is unacceptably late. I am leaving the country and wanted to bring this along as an x-mas gift but that is now impossible. I feel betrayed and will never ever place an order with this store again."

"I inspected the merchandise minutes after receiving it from FedEx. I immediately noticed one of the items was damaged and clearly not new! I tried to contact Zipzoomfly by phone, but only got an answering machine. (No one ever returned my call!) Frustrated, I completed an RMA form and returned the merchandise. I though the problems would end there, but then they had the audacity to claim that I had caused the damage and would only offer to try and exchange it through the manufacture! I have spent thousands of dollars with these people over the years and to be treated like this is unimaginable. This will be my last experience with Zipzoomfly and I would urge caution before anyone else buys from this company!"
