"I ordered from the company then checked the reviews. Based on many poor reviews, I sweated out the order until it arrived. However, the order arrived in perfect condition, exactly what I ordered, and I am very pleased with it. Based on 2 factors I will downgrade my evaluation. Communication regarding status is not forthcoming. I had to call several times to get updates, but the updates were given in a courteous and friendly manner (but sometimes vague and of minimal value). The second fault was the overinflated shipping. The shipping charge for 2 boxes of 2 barstools each was $175. I accepted those charges since the price of the chair was much lower than other merchants, and I considered the overall price per chair with shipping figured in as a competitive price. There was one incident that temporarily concerned me. During my last call to receive an update I was given the tracking numbers for UPS shipping, but they told me only one box (2 chairs) was sent and the item was no longer available. They were ready to refund the price of one set of chairs, but only the chair price. The shipping for the one box was still $175! I argued that and figured I would have to dispute the charge with the credit card company. Later the man called me and said he was mistaken, 2 boxes did ship out and the order was complete.I guess the bottom line is they probably fulfill most orders well and properly, but pay attention to the details such as shipping, and pay with a credit card for your protection, at least until the feedback suggests a better run business. "
"DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM IF YOU NEED IT DELIVERED! I put in my order on Dec. 17, 2010 and it finally arrived at my house Feb. 14, 2011! We called every week and at first was told it would be Jan. 3rd then it was "can you call next week" It was a bedroom set and they are horrible at sending emails or contacting you for anything. It came with some marks on it and still smelling of paint but after the hassle it took to get it I'm not sending back, because I will be out the money and a bed and if I get money back it will probably take a year of constant emails and phone calls. They are short with you on the phone and if you look at their feedback on their web page it is only the good ones they keep. I will pay the extra $ to stay local and receive my goods in a timely manner and better customer care."
"1 star for the fact that the piece I bought is good quality. But otherwise, 0 stars all the way. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!! Their web-site guarantees 30 day no hassle return policy, but AFTER you have made your purchase you're given a receipt that says "exchanges only". They seem to change their policies according to their mood. Customer service was extremely poor and unprofessional; I felt harassed in my efforts to return the couch when it did not work for my space. Definitely not worth the hassle. Watch out for the 15% charge to "repack" your brand new furniture if you try to return it -- even though the delivery guys will "unpack" it for you automatically. Staff have no problem changing their story multiple times to evade accepting returns. Also, do not believe their sale prices. They will use it to pressure you to buy, but the day after the sale is over, you will see they have set a new "end of sale" date."
"My credit card was charged 5 weeks ago and still no delivery. Delivery was promised 1, 2, and 3 weeks ago, only after I called them to find out the status. Not once did they call me to let me know that there would be delays in an order that was promised in 2 weeks. They did try to deliver a completely different (and cheaper) item than what I ordered.ORDER FROM Z FURNITURE ONLY IF YOU'RE WILLING TO PUT UP WITH UNEXPECTED DELAYS, LIES, AND WRONG MERCHANDISE."
"Warning - Poor customer service! I purchased a TV cart over the internet from Z Futons and Furniture. When I received it and placed a small TV on it, it bent and was unusable. Only after a number of phone calls and emails did they agree to refund my money for the cart, although they refused to pay for the shipping back to them. I had to pay $20 shipping for their defective product. One person I talked to on the phone blamed me and said this cart was not meant for a TV, when in fact it was advertised on the internet as a TV cart. I was very unsatisfied."
"I ordered an item from Z Lights and Furniture on 12/18/2004 and it did not arrive until 1/18/2005. I was verbally told by the sales associate that the item would arrive within two weeks. Had I known the item would greatly exceed his estimate, I would not have agreed to purchase the item. The reseller did not proactively inform me that the item would arrive later than the expected timeframe necessitating multiple requests for the information. As a professional consultant I often work from home. The delay in shipping caused inconvenience, thereby negatively impacting my ability to complete assignments for clients and colleagues.Upon reception of the item it was found to be damaged to the extent that it could not be assembled (i.e. the metal frame was warped such that the parts would not align). In addition the item had chipped paint and otherwise poor workmanship quality.Because the box that packaged the item parts was damaged from previous shipping and handling, I requested that the reseller pick up the item. Initially the sales woman agreed to send a company employee to pick up the desk, but upon learning that I would not be ordering a replacement, reneged on the offer, stating it was company policy that the consumer return the damaged goods.I called the reseller and asked for the names of the sales representatives that had spoken with me, however the sales staff refused to provide their names or the name of their manager when requested."
"I placed an order online for 2 table lamps. The price was $132. The website said, "Shipping is free for all orders of Lamps & Futon Covers over $100. Everything else we will email you the shipping costs for your approval before we finalize the order," but they emailed me saying it would be $30 - which is ridiculous, considering the size and weight of the package, and the fact that they advertise free shipping for orders over $100. I told them to cancel the order because of the ridiculous shipping and lies, so they finally agreed to ship it for free. However, the order didn't ship out until 5/25/04, which was 3 days short of a month AFTER I paid them. I called them twice to get status, and they kept asking for my phone number, saying they would call me back, but they never called. It wasn't until my third phone call that I got the shipping information, and that's because I gave them a very hard time for not calling me back twice. -Poor communication.-Shipping advertised free on website but they tried to charge it anyway.-Extremely slow shipping."
