Wintergreen Systems likes to run rebate promotions it has no intentions on paying. I've been waiting for 6 months on an approved $100 rebate on a monitor, they don't have the money to pay it. I hope they go out of business soon so they can't continue to cheat customers again and again.

I ordered a monitor for my parents through wintergreen and it proved to be a horrible move. The monitor became defective after about 8 months, and I returned it to get a different one. Well within 5 months of getting the other monitor, that one started to not work correctly. After a week or so, the monitor stopped working completely. They refused to exchange the monitor for a new one. This was the worst purchase I have made in awhile.

In December, 2004, I ordered a Wintergreen bare bones system from Tiger Direct. It had three rebates: one for $100 from Tiger Direct and two for $20 each from Wintergreen. I submitted the rebates within the proper time period with the correct information and UPC codes. Tiger Direct paid its rebate promptly. A year later, Wintergreen has not paid its rebates.

I contacted Wintergreen and asked them why they had not paid the rebates. Their first response was that I had not included the serial numbers from the CDRW drive and motherboard. I sent them a copy of the rebates clearly showing that I had provided the serial numbers. Then they sent me an email stating that the serial numbers were not correct. I checked the drive and motherboard and the serial numbers are correct.

It is clear that Wintergreen does not want to pay the rebates and is using the “incorrect serial numbers” as an excuse not to pay.

Tiger Direct is still selling Wintergreen products. I contacted Tiger Direct reporting that I have not received the rebate payments from Wintergreen and that in light of the many customer complaints about Wintergreen not paying rebates, if Tiger Direct continues to sell Wintergreen products, it is participating in cheating its customers. A week has gone by and Tiger Direct has not responded to my email.

I have told Tiger Direct that I will not purchase any more products from them as long as they continue to sell Wintergreen products. There are many other online sellers of computer products who provide better customer service. Those sellers can be determined right here on this web site.

I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau of Fort Wayne, Indiana, (fortwayne.bbb.org), the Attorney General of Indiana (in.gov/attorneygeneral/contact/) and the Attorney General of Kansas (accesskansas.org/ksag/contact.htm).

I believe that no one should purchase any product from Wintergreen Systems and that all should refuse to purchase anything from Tiger Direct until they stop selling Wintergreen Systems products.

07/2006

I received a check for $40 drawn on the Attorney General of Indiana's account. There was not a clear explanation of what the payment was for, but since Wintergreen owed me two $20 rebates, totalling $40, I have to assume that this check represents payment for my rebates.

Of course, the expense represented by the time I spent pursuing these rebates was much more than $40, but it's the principle of the thing and I would do it all over again if I have to.

I don't know any consumer who likes rebates, but as long as manufacturers and retailers are going to offer rebates as an enticement to buy, I will do everything I can to see that they meet their obligation or if they don't, that this behavior will be reported to the proper authorities and other consumers.

I've been 8 months now trying to get $120 worth of rebates for Wintergreen products bought through TigerDirect.com. I hope they invest this money well because they won't last in business. If you go to techrepublic.com, there is a thread there where a lawyer is trying to get people interested in a class action lawsuit against Wintergreen. Just google wintergreen system rebates and you'll find it.

I purchased a Wintergreen Barebone Kit from TigerDirect that had $140 worth of rebates. The $100 rebate directly from TigerDirect was great. The Wintergreen rebates not so good. I was informed yesterday by Jessica Bruckner that they were processing rebates from 12/14/04. That meant they were 2 1/2 months behind with rebate processing. The excuse given "unfortunately working 12 hours a day on rebates and processing as quickly as possible is the best we can do." Should we feel bad for her? Do not purchase from this company if you expect your rebate on time.

Purchased 17" LCD Monitor from TigerDirect, that was advertised with a $70.00 Rebate. It has been over 9 weeks, and I can't get a reply from them. Have sent several e-mails, no response!
E-mails go to: JessicaBruckner@wintergreensys.com!

They don't have an 800 number, that I have been able to find, and when you call (574) 295-9054, they will put you on hold!

They have changed locations, since I mailed in the rebate. Address was in Notre Dame, IN.
Now they are listed in:
2510 Sterling Ave
Elkhart, IN. 46516

If you have rebate(s) due, but have been unable to get them, please file a complaint with the BBB.

www.fortwayne.bbb.org

Including myself, there are 3 of us that will be filing.

Have had very good results when filing with BBB.

Like most other respondents, I would not purchase from Wintergreen again. I purchased because the price with the rebate was much better than anywhere else but the rebate process was extremely frustrating. It took multiple emails to the rebate person and one letter to the owner of the company for my rebate to go through. I finally received my rebate almost 6 months after my purchase. I think I will stick to the big box stores for future purchases.

Wintergreen Systems does not honor their rebates. I am currently 5 weeks past the promised receive date and they have not arrived. I have spoken with their customer service twice in these 5 weeks. The first time they gave me a run-around (common practice, but rebates usually appear afterwards). The second time they tell me that they do not have any of my information on file. I highly recommend that you DO NOT buy products from this company.
Matter of fact, let's make the people pay for ignoring us and ripping us off - file a complaint with the Indiana Better Business Bureau just like I did:

Ordered a 17" wintergreen lcd monitor from tigerdirect.com on 11/24/2004, the monitor was $289, with a $80 rebate from wintergreen. It is now 3/4/2005 and I still have not received a rebate. Phone calls and emails to wintergreen and tigerdirect have gone un-answered. I will not purchase again from either of these companies. It's been over three months, I believe they count on most people forgetting about the rebates, but $80 is $80!!

Wintergreen is a fraudulent company that does not honor their promised rebates. This company will be out of business soon if they continue to steal from their own customers. I bought a Wintergreen computer from Tigerdirect as a gift for my mother and Wintergreen Systems never honored the rebate.

The computer was purchased via Tiger Direct. Despite email and phone communication, I am still waiting for the promised $80 rebate. My experience appears to be similar to that of many other buyers. Tiger Direct refers all rebate problems back to Wintergreen.

I purchased a Wintergreen desktop computer thru Tiger Direct. These people keep telling me that my $80.00 rebate is in the mail.after I questioned their honesty because it was three weeks after they said it was in the mail. They said I was insulting a very christian woman and to wait two weeks. When I called again they said there was a mixeup and that they went out last week.Tiger Direct has said they will make it good but I am going to ask for a refund towards another computer. So far it's been over 17 weeks.

I will never buy another computer from Wintergree Systems. Prices may seem low, but they find every possible excuse to weasel out of honoring a rebate. Buyers beware, your better off buying from a reputable company!
