"I admit I was concerned about placing my first order with Visionman after I read the reviews on this site. We are a small business with a very tight budget and did/still do not have room for error. I spent many hours working through the configurations our organization was going to require for our next deployment of servers and decided I would at least request a quotation on my project. After all, I continued to see Visionman servers being sold through very reputable online stores like Staples.com, Compusa.com, Tigerdirect.com and my new favorite place to score hardware deals, thenerds.net.
I contacted Visionman via telephone and was greeted by yes …a live person who kindly directed me to a member of the small business sales team. We worked together through my configurations and made improvements per my new Visionman sales consultant. I weighed the final quotations against the two other quotes received from HP and Dell. On paper, Visionman was winning the race; my new sales consultant was great. However, some of the reviews from this site were still lingering in the back of my head. I went forward with the purchase of two database servers and one mail server and could not be happier with my decision. Everything arrived on time and was “plug and play” out of the box. I even received technical support with loading a copy of MS Server 2008 that I did not even purchase from Visionman. Bottom line…I will be purchasing 6 more servers in August and it will be from Visionman.

"We are a systems integration company and this was about the 10th server we've purchased from VisionMan. On our 2nd order, we were contacted by a personally assigned sales rep who has been very helpful ever since and has been there for the 2+ years we have been doing business. They have called us back with great tips/configuration recommendations after we have placed web orders (like recommending a more compatible RAID controller or a more economical memory option), and their support has been excellent. I used to use Dell exclusively, but I have found that Dell has gotten a little proud of their equipment lately - and I have grown tired of waiting on hold in Dell's support tree. I can usually save anywhere from 25% - 40% on a server from VisionMan and I find if you stick with the quality component manufacturers (SuperMicro, GigaByte, Intel, Adaptec, etc.), I have had even better reliability from VisionMan than I have had with Dell. Once, I tried to save some money by using on-board RAID, and installing the OS myself and I ran into some headaches, but I have never had any trouble if I chose a Visionman recommended configuration and let them install the OS."

"This is the worst Customer Service of any company I've ever dealt with. I'm refering to Vision Computers, Inc. They're rude, not at all helpful or freindly, and they're obvously only out to make a buck. BAD COMPANY. Don't do business with them unless you're willing to take a loss!"

"I ordered an ATHLON XP 2700 workstation (and rec'd) in Nov '04, it arrived with a different (cheaper) motherboard and also the satellite USB ports (top and front of case) were not connected to the MB. Over the next 2 weeks (after receipt) I called Vision 5 times (at my own expense) and faxed them once. Also several e-mails. Each time I have been either sweet-talked or stalled, with no resolution offered other than our (president or manager) will be calling you back. Never once have I received a call-back or even an e-mail acknowledging any problem. The computer works but it was shipped (1) INCOMPLETE and (2) NOT AS ORDERED to be specific inferior parts yet charged me for superior parts - to the tune of $919.00 which of couse I paid in advance.
After being ignored for a month, I will NEVER recommend Vision Computers Inc (dba visionman.com) in Chandler AZ to anyone. Stay away from these guys."

, Visionman / VCI Systems (smmdirect.com) rep has responded

“The customer received exactly as ordered and we delivered on time. We have quotes and invoices to prove such upon request. Also, our phone # is a 1-800 so there is no expense and we attempted to make contact multiple times, and we offered a 30-day moneyback return option which the customer refused to use. ”

"This has been my WORST experience with any online retailer ever. I will NEVER do any business with visionman again or recommend them to anyone I know. If you have any sort of problem with your order, you can expect weeks/months for any kind of resolution, I am going on 4 months now and they still owe me $60 for a faulty part they refuse to credit me on. I guess they are very hard up, and with service like I have received, it's no wonder!!!"

, Visionman / VCI Systems (smmdirect.com) rep has responded

“Customer ordered a system through one of our resellers, and the system was damaged during shipping. Customer was given the run-around by the reseller, and once we were brought into the loop we did our best to take care of our customer. Customer refused to ship it back for repair, so we shipped out parts so the customer could repair the system on-site. ”

"I bought 2 similar computers - 1 rack unit. They worked fine for several months, and then the power supplies quit working. I have left a phone message and filled out an online form. I have had NO communication from the company.

I had to buy replacement power supplies from iStarUSA for over $100 each. iStarUSA claims that their power supplies have a warranty, but they do not ship any paperwork with the power supply to prove the purchase. Also they do not provide any invoice or receipt even when requested. It was difficult to even order from iStarUSA -- they required copies of drivers license and credit card."

"So...you've read the sharply different reviews and you've seen Visionman's (VM) responses. This is important, because I want you to read and apply those to my recent experience. On Feb 25, I ordered a well-priced 1U server, fully realizing that it takes 5-7 BUSINESS days to receive, b/c VM builds and tests the equipment before shipment. Fine. I expect this for business products. Now, I have a *firm* deadline of 1.5 weeks with a critical client (time includes a Gentoo Linux install), so I chose 2nd-day shipping, and asked my rep to please contact VM and try to get a little time shaved off the end (at the very least this indicates my deadline is firm). He said that he has had trouble reaching them, but he knew who to call. Today, Monday, March 3 (7 days later), we contact them again to find that the motherboard is on backorder (?!), pushing shipment out to Friday, making my total time-to-product more than 2 weeks. Even if I *receive* the machine this weekend w/a next-day option, weekend access to the hosting site, which put in new equipment expecting me to come this week, bills around $200/hour. So here I am--no server, an angry client, a host with whom I pulled an unnecessary favor, a professional client-locator whose reputation is also on the line, and my sales rep trying to find an alternative giving time to install--smack in the middle of a political nightmare. To say that I am extremely dissatisfied would be unfair--I don't have a product to say they did it right--but I am NOT by any stretch happy. I stand to lose a large sum of money, but realistically I am returning to a vendor who WILL get me a more expensive, discontinued machine in 2 days. To be fair to VM, it is OK for a company to sometimes be out of stock, but it's NOT OK to fail to communicate. I have heard complaints about their communications, and I note: how long did it take for them to respond to customer complaints on ResellerRatings? 2-3 years? If they are so organized that they can blame the customer/retailer after that much time, it is bizarre that they aren't more responsive. While they might have come through for my business--and let's be honest, I know they tried, so this could be an unfortunate fluke--the nature of business is that you don't have time to screw around. I will pause on returning to this vendor, but if you have the time to wait--and they drastically improve their communications--at their prices they may be worth a careful second shot. And folks, if they work for you, don't forget to say so; sometimes it just takes some deliberate feedback on what went wrong to make significant improvements."

"I contacted Vision Computers for help with a virus that had infected
my system. I did not buy my system at Vision, and at first I was told
that they give service priority to systems bought at Vision, but to my
relief they eventually agreed to do a rush job on my system after I
explained the urgency of my situation. Within two days they had
cleaned up the virus and all other malware/spyware/adware on my
system, and now it is not only able to function properly but it also
seems to be much faster! I greatly appreciate how they went the extra
mile for me on this!"

"Ordered a new Widowpc gaming computer from Tiger Direct May 19, 2009. Computer would not power up on August 30, 2009. After 2 days trying suggestions from Visionman tech support, it appears the motherboard has failed. I can't return it to Tiger Direct because its over 30 days, I have to ship it to Visionman repair center. Called September 24 2009 to check on the status and find out they won't start on it for another 4 weeks because there are 3 more ahead of me. Their technician must work every other Saturday morning. What a joke for a professional company."
