"I have purchased a bunch of cigars from Thompson and must say, I am VERY unimpressed. I run an online business as well and if I treated my customers like them, I would be out of business. They are always back ordering my cigars and when they do have them in stock (rare), it takes days to process my order. I paid for 3 day shipping to get them quick, the only problem is that it took 3 days for them to ship them. I still do not have them. I will NEVER order from them again. I have ordered from Mike's cigars and get them in 2 days. Say good bye to Thompson and HELLO Mike!!!!!"
"I placed an order with Thompson cigars and during the order process I opted out of receiving marketing... At the end of the order I was offered a 10% discount on my order for signing up to ??? I didn't sign up.Since I place my order, I have received multiple mailers that I didn't want. I received a call on my cell phone, misleading me by telling me my order had shipped (it had not) and solicitation me to sign up and get 10% (Same thing I didn't do at check out). After being told that my order shipped I received several emails pertaining to out of stock items??? (That supposedly had shipped??). I called customer service 2 times, sent emails.. Their chat says to leave a number and someone will call you, 8AM... I leave a number at 8:15 ET, get a call back, automated....telling me hours are (AM ET ???? This company is the worst I've dealt with when it comes to internet purchasing. Abusive marketing and lousy customer service. Tip...Don't"
"NOT SHOPPING HERE ANY MORE! VERY DISAPPOINTED! I have purchased several times from them before, but not anymore. I was in the MIDDLE of an order in response to a "deal" on shipping (I put up with a MILLION emails for "specials") when I must have crossed over midnight and - WHAM! - "The promo code has expired." Wow! In the middle of my order. OK, your opportunity to do business with me has just "expired.""
"Was a loyal Thompson customer since 2008. bought my humidor from them too. they used to be the kind of company that cared about their customers and showed it. since 2013 I've received stale cigars and had several problems with their club services and every time they seem to have no record of any of it. After receiving a shipment that I did not order recently I cancelled all my services and ended my club account. I was told by their customer service that I would be issued a refund and given a prepaid shipping label and all the catalogs would stop. Low and behold 6 weeks later and I'm still getting blasted with catalogs, spam, and a nice bill for shipping and return shipping. I called up customer service and asked if they were really going to do this and make me go out of my way to fight a 15 dollar charge and the guy politely ( I would say smugly) told me "yes sir, that's exactly the way this works." asked to speak to a supervisor, was told they would call me back... so far no return call and no help. 15 dollars is not that much but it's still wrong and it's clear the Thompson cigar of today is not the Thompson cigar I started with so many years ago, hard to find a company that will treat you good and have all the selection I want."
"I've ordered cigars several times from them, which have ranged from poor to good. After a bundle that was poor, I wrote a review that was negative, but fair. They would not publish it. They are cherrypicking only reviews that are favorable. I even wrote them to complain, and wrote a second review. I did not get a response to the complaint, and they did not publish the review a second time. I hate crap like this. I'm not doing business with them any more."
"Awful, after my elderly father said he DIDN’T want to join their VIP Cigar Club, they enrolled him anyway and were set to charge his card after the 1 st month…I see several other reviews where this happened, they should be closely looked at by the Better Business Bureau for their unscrupulous business practices!"
"I just ordered a box of cigars and a humidor from Thompson Cigar. I have to say the whole process went perfectly fine without any issues. I opted for the 2-day processing and placed my order after their cut off on Tuesday, so I expected it wouldn't ship till Wednesday. Wednesday night I got an email confirming it did in fact ship, and I just received them today on Friday. Items are exactly as described and I got a good price on them compared to the local store. Won't hesitate to order from them again.Oh, and they did not call me after I placed my order online to join their club or any other reaspon. Not sure if they've changed or I was just unique."
"Our account was suspended. We requested it be placed under suspension because we did not want to continue the monthly club at the time. During that call we were advised that we would be notified before it became active again and before we would be charged. This was incorrect. We were charged for a shipment and not notified ahead of time. The shipment was sent to an address we no longer reside at. We requested they reship the cigars to our new address or refund us, they refused either option. I escalated to a manager who stated they would return my call later that day. When the call was returned they advised that it was our fault that we did not notify them that we moved 4 months ago, and that we will not get the cigars, nor would they refund us for merchandise we did not receive. I advised this answer would result in me contacting my bank to start the dispute process. Our bank attempted to contact them today, to which Thompson Cigars immediately hung up on our banking representative as soon as he mentioned he was with Bank Of America. We called back again, this time I answered the representative. We spoke with an extremely rude representative that once again, advised it was our fault for not notifying a company we have no contact with in at least 6 or 7 months that we had moved. We do have a forwarding address on file with the USPS, however, as of today, nothing has been forwarded to us. It is not fair that we are being charged for a shipment we have not received, and that the company, Thompsons Cigars, refuses to refund. It is unethical and a scam."
"I have ordered from this company a few times. They always call you to follow up after your order. It is not to ensure they did well though, it is to try to get to join their cigar of the month club. This is annoying and will happen if you un check the "please contact me" box. Other than that they are jam up."
"I have ordered a smoking pipe with a pipe tool from this company. They send me a completely different and much cheaper pipe tool then the picture they show in their web site and ad booklet. When I called them about it, all they sad was "they don't have the pipe tool they show in their web site any more". But I guess they don't mind to show the picture of a better product in their web site, as if they still have it. Typical "Bait and switch" scam. I will never order anything from this company."
"i placed an order from these guys over a week ago. i never received any sort of confirmation that they received the order, even though they billed my credit card immediately. After waiting another week - i still haven't received any order or shipping confirmation so i tried calling them. I was kept waiting on hold for more than 40 minutes and nobody ever picked up on their end when my phone battery died.I posted on their Facebook page asking why the long wait on the phone and they deleted my question and banned me from the page instead of simply trying to do something to help me resolve the issue. Ignore it and maybe it'll go away is their way of dealing with unhappy customers.i have sent an email asking what's up and never received a reply either. Buyer Beware. There are other cigar shops online that are much cheaper and that have better customer service than Thompson's."
"I have been a customer of Thompson Cigar for years and I know they deserve a better rating than this. Clearly the guy who wrote the previous review neglected to uncheck the box to receive promotional emails. While they do send quite a lot of emails (one every few days) that's no reason to give such a low rating when the actual transaction went smoothly. All I had to do to stop receiving emails was to click the link at the bottom to opt out and I haven't gotten one since.I haven't placed a ton of orders with Thompson Cigar, but I've never had a problem. I enjoy thumbing through the catalog they send.P.S.Do like I did and set up a new email account and use it only for websites that might send spam. My junk mail email has almost 20,000 messages and it's no big deal."
"I bought a pack of cigars from this company. Shipping and ordering was fine, no problems. My issue has more to do with their spam. They automatically enroll your email in a mailing list and they will shoot three or so emails a day promoting all of their products. It got so annoying, I used their unsubscribe function to take me off the list. The next day, I still get their emails! So, I try it again and again, I would still get the emails. I finally just shot them an email telling them to take me off the list and I get a reply about how I am now off the list. I thought that was kind of waste of time that I had to email them but it was worth it, to stop getting all the spam. Next day, a whole new set of their emails is waiting for me in the inbox. I swear, this has to be the lamest attempt at marketing I have ever seen. I was perfectly happy with them until this. I finally just set my email program to treat anything with their name on it as junk. If you order from them, use an email you never use!"
