"Pretty much the same thing that happened to everyone else happened to me. Tried to purchase an Olympus sp-560-uz for the unbelieveable price of $279.00 (red flag...yeah, now I know). They told me to call them to confirm the order, at which point an utter jerk tried to hard sell me memory cards and batteries. Then he tried to sell me the warranty, since I was getting a Japanese camera...or I could spend a lot more for the U.S. version (he said it was in the description, it wasn't; I told him it was supposed to have a year warranty, he disputed it). I ended the call, talked with my wife, and called back to cancel the order. The next guy was the rudest man with whom I've ever spoken who was trying to sell me something. He congratulated me on being so stupid to pass up such a great deal. Go ahead and tell everyone I know not to buy from them, he didn't care. And so I am. I got a cancellation confirmation email, luckily. Anyone who says they had a great experience with them ("they're just rough-around-the-edges guys from Brooklyn" "it did mention grey market") is (in my opinion) a liar who is on their payroll. Oh yeah, and that one person was right about the grey market items being listed in the return policy. Anyway, VERY FISHY & SHADY, TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS. [I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and recommend you all do the same]"

"BUYERS BEWARE!

www.TechonDigital.com and www.TheDigitalNerds.com are FRAUD!

DON"T BUY FROM TECHONDigital.com or TheDigitalNerds.com FRAUD!

I just filed a serious complaint with the BBB about TECHON Digital ( www.TECHONDigital.com ), and The Digital Nerds ( www.TheDigitalNerds.com) about their unethical and illegal tactics of offering low priced items without fulfilling orders unless they throw in extremely high priced accessories (Their high pressure telemarketers will call you and try to sell you accessories before they even think of mailing it to you.... They'll find some reason not to send it to you if you don't by any accessories.)

On Jan. 02, 2008 I ordered a (JVC Everio GZ-MG555 5MP 30GB Hard Disk Drive Camcorder) from www.TECHONDigital.com . $389 for the camcorder and $14.90 shipping. Full price:$403.90 Order ID: 910***. The site said it would be shipped out in three days. Today, Jan. 3, 2008, I received a phone call from TECHON Digital trying to sell me many accessories. During our conversation the sales associate offered me a "US version of the camcorder I ordered." I was confused. The English only site and description page doesn't say anything about the camcorder not being English: http://www.techondigital.com/product.asp?productid=GZMG555 The associate (James: 800-958-0054 ext 201) told me that the camcorder I ordered and they were sending me is a "grey market" item. I told James that it doesn't or never stated grey market, which I never heard before, anywhere in the item description, on the website, or during the transactions, emails, or receipt. James told me the camcorder and instructions I ordered would be in Japanese. I was confused. There entire website is in English. James told me that the "hidden" policy is on their policy page. I looked over the entire website, all my transactions, all emails and couldn't find anything that stated my ordered camcorder would not be in English or the words grey market. After searching awhile, I found the words grey market hidden in their "Return Policy", not their Store Policy. James became very rude and hung up and canceled my order. What kind of scam are they running. I have copies of my order and their policy page with the words grey market only hidden in their return policy online. I even talked with management and another associate. All were rude. It was like they had this grey market conversation rehearsed.

They are using an unethical, misleading, and hidden policy to reach customers they wouldn't normally reach by listing grey market prices under all their items. TECHON Digital's management even told me they weren't an English company to attempt to avoid my reasonable arguments. I found them, via you, to be a New Jersey based company. Although my order is canceled without my permission, I still want to pay for what I ordered: http://www.techondigital.com/product.asp?productid=GZMG555. I am extremely angry with this company and its illegal and misleading way of selling merchandise. I gave them my personal contact and financial information to receive an English item as described. If anyone buys the same camcorder I did, they'll be just as angry. Please tell me what I can do.

"This store tries to bait you and then do a hard sell over the phone to purchase overpriced options. After declining the hard sell, they say either you item is out of stock for 6-8 weeks or the low price is only good on the Japanese version that must be serviced in Japan. AVOID THIS STORE. THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND. Simply cancel your order as I did and deal with someone who is honest about their prices."

"I feel like my recent experience with TechonDigital.com was a con-job. My dealing with them leads me to believe they are operating something similar to a switch and bait scheme.
I ordered the Garmin Nuvi-760 last week. The price was much lower than the market price, but their rating on EveryPrice.com was more than acceptable, so I didn’t think I was taking much of a chance to deal with them. After placing my online order, I received an email to call them in order to confirm the order. When I called I received a solicitation for many items that I did not want.
Two days after saying "no" to the long list of items on their sales pitch, I received an Email that stated:
“We thank you for your order and appreciate you shopping with us . Due to the product you ordered being out of stock for 6-8 weeks from today's date. We regret to inform you that the order is canceled due to the product being on backorder. when or if we get the product again in stock soon will send you an email to place an order please do not resubmit your order again . sorry again and thanks for your understanding .” [I copied this exactly from the email, including the grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure errors]
I have since checked their website many times since receiving the above notification, and the unit has constantly shown as in-stock. They have even lowered the price by $20.00 since I placed my order. They have yet to Email me indicating the unit is again available.

Finally today, I called in. When I first asked if the unit was in stock, the sales rep said yes. Then he told me that “the only thing it needs is a memory card”. When I told him no, he changed to saying the unit would not be available for 6 to 8 weeks. When I asked why the website shows it in stock, he simply hung up on me.

I don’t know if they have ever truly had the unit in stock, but the way they handled the sales pitch for the add-ons, I can only draw an assumumption that they have had the unit available this whole time. I don't think they will sell the unit at their advertised price unless I purchase more products that enhance their profits. If this is the case, it is very deceiving.

I’ll be forwarding this letter to both the California and New York State Attorney General’s offices, as well as to Support@techondigital.com.

"Don't go there! Same experience- ordered a camera and they wanted to sell me overpriced acc's when i declined they said it was a refurbished camera- which was nowhere in there descriptions- when I refused to pay 100$ more for a new one he said my order was cancelled and hung up on me! I tried to call back and was swore at and hung up on! Sounds illegal to me! Also have discovered that they were under a previous name TheDigitalExpo.com of which this site has numerous complaints that are the same. Funny all the "excellent reviews" that they had at pricegrabber.com!"

"Techon Digital was prompt and accurate on their low price. They did what they said they would and when it was a day late arriving they make it right. I highly recommend this company. I love the camera and they didn't oversell the attachements. I am very satisfied.

":mad:STAY AWAY FROM THIS Site.
To good to be true. I'm only going to state the facts, you make the call.
I ordered a garmin GPS from them.
I recieved an email that they needed to talk to me.
I called them to see what's up.
They said I didn't order a SD card with my GPS and I needed one.
I told them I have several already, I don't want one. (there price was way high.)
I didn't hear anything from them for a week and I called them to see what's up.
They told me It was now on back order and it would be at least 2 months till I get it.
I told them it said in stock and ship right away when I ordered it and they said it was a mistake.
I cancelled the order and I sent an email stating this.
I emailed them several times to remove my account information from their site and called them to do this also.
This started on DEC 18 or so. It is still in their computer today 1/20/09
My card security # is also shown.
ON 1/12/09 MY CREDIT CARD was compromised. I used this card for years and never a problem.
You be the judge...!!!
MY opinion STAY AWAY.

"I had same experience as others. Should have checked them out first. When I wouldn't buy their high priced accessories, the price they quoted to me for a "US market" camera was over MSRP! Sales reps were unprofessional."

"CROOKS! SCAM ARTISTS! STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! WORST, SCARY EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH AN ONLINE RETAILER. I STOPPED THE ORDER AS THEY TRIED TO UPSELL OTHER ITEMS TO ME AND WHEN I WOULDNT BUY ANY, THEY REMINDED ME THAT MY PURCHASE WAS A REFURBISHED ITEM (WHICH IT WAS NOT--NO MENTION ON THE WEBSITE). WHEN I CALLED THEM , THEY YELLED AT ME AND HUNG UP ON ME. THIS SITE MUST BE CRIMINAL. "

"Earlier this evening I placed an on-line order with TECHNODigital for a Nikon S51c camera. After the order process was completed, I received an email providing a phone # to call to confirm the order. I called the number and got a recording with thier hours. Shortly afterwards I received a call from TECHNODigital asking that I confirm the order. I did. This person then started a hard sell to upgrade the battery for the camera. I decided not to accept his offer. He continued, insulting me becuase I wanted to accept a poor battery that ships with the camera. I told him that I was not interested in any additional accessories and if he wouldn't sell the camera as advertised I would cancel the order. He said since I just told him to cancel the order he was going to cancel it and hung up. Shortly thereafter I received a second email stating the order was cancelled. I'm now concerned that I provided my Credit Card info. I would not recommend anyone do business with this company or any of its clones (e.g. DigitalNerds, Stargate Photo, etc.)"
