"** WARNING -- WARNING -- WARNING -- ** DO NOT EVER EVER SHOP WITH THESE SCAMMERS!!!
I am a professional shopper as I have been shopping regularly for years and years, have seen all the bait and switch companies and their stories or excuses to cancel your order on the loss leader items. I have been trying to buy a Sony HDR-SR8 for a while and came upon their $899 price. now sirens went off: 1. price is lowest on the web 2. east coast company, probably NYC or NJ 3. lots of BS text about new items, usa only, satisfaction guarantee crap 4. lots of optional accessories and bundles for upsell and bait and switch techniques.
I decided to place an order with my business amex card. I know it is guaranteed to go thru, I put the same info for billing and shipping to prevent them from having an excuse to not ship it. I ordered next day air shipping to prevent them from saying it got lost or it is not a priority shipping method and why I cannot get it on time etc.
I got a confirmation email saying i must call to confirm. call 1. our system is down, call back call 2. what is your order no? gave it to them, pls hold. then someone picks up and said you are not confirmed. i told them that is why i am calling another guy came up. said ok now you are confirmed. i said great, will i get it tommorrow. he says "you are never going to get this item" I was like what? is this a joke? he says "Do you think I am joking with you? do you want me to cancel it?" then i said you have it in stock on the website, he said "no we dont, do you want me to keep your order here forever until we have them for this price? " I was like WHAT? I could not beleive they have this clown as customer service. I said can you repeat what you are saying? thinking I misheard him. He said "What did you say about your PEN*S?" I was like so this is a scam right? He says "thank you" and hung up.
THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM!! DO NOT EVER BUY FROM THIS PLACE. A warning to other shoppers.
1. look out for the above red flags when you order consumer electronics. Check the whois, a lot of them share the same address or are all on the same street.
2. Dont get fooled by 800 numbers, it does not mean they are going to be in business or have been in business for long.
3. watch for the FAKE certified seals, like 5 star or shopping seals, they are ALL fake and probably owned by one of their associates, they are all no name price comparison engines desgined to boost their own traffic or search engine rankings. Most of the vendors are the same on those fake comparison sites giving fake seals for certified store or customer satisfaction seals. If you scan the best price stores in froogle, or adword listings , the same stores always show up and upon further investigation they are really the same outfit or are associates of each other.
4. I see the same issues over and over again. dont give them an excuse to cancel your order. make surey you use a card that will go through, make sure you are shipping to the billing address of the credit card, make sure you do your due diligence. These scammers will try and upsell you, if they succeed in dumping crappy options and bundles onto you, they will ship it since they are now making a profit. If you say no to everything they will find all the ways to NOT fulfill your order.
"Very misleading and SORRY company. I ordered a Fugi S700 camera and in the ad it says that everything they sell has a FULL USA warranty. WRONG!! The camera came in an open plain box, no warranty card, no lens cover. I tried to register the camera with Fugi, guess Fugi didn't get the memo from thecameraprofessionals about Full Warrany and they said it could not be registered as it was made overseas, in my case, Indonesia. I have tried and tried to call their 800 number to get an RA number from them but to no avail. You are put on hold and no one EVER comes back to answer the call. Oh, I did cancel my order online within 15 minutes of placing it and after reading the fine print you CAN'T cancel online and well calling is not an option as you never talk to a real live person. Oh well, they fooled me once, but this is the very LAST penny they will get from me. It is best to spend the few extra dollars and buy from a reputable and upstanding company. I learned my lesson well."
"Same complaint as the other people. Tried to sell me the upgrade package, I refused. After a few days I called and was notified my item was on backorder, unknown ETA. Very rude people. canceled my order. "

"Their website said the item was in stock. I ordered and then found out it was on backorder. I was told it would be in in a few days, 21 days later still no update from The Camera Professionals. I called today to cancel my order, I was transferred three times and on hold for 5 minutes, when I finally spoke to someone he was very rude!"
"I purchased a Sony DCR-HC38 camcorder from The Camera Professionals and was very misled by their advertised price on the web. I was getting ready to go on a trip and was thrilled I was going to be able to get this overnighted to me so I could take it on my trip. When I called to confirm my order and complete my transaction like the confirmation email I received told me, I first chose the customer service option to have someone pick me up ask me what I wanted and tell me I needed the sales department then put on hold. I held for about 5 minutes before a sales person answered. They asked me my order number then put me back on hold for another what seemed to be 5 minutes. When they picked back up they proceeded to tell me that a battery and charger do not come with the camera and can be purchased for an additional charge. I should not have assumed that it came with it, but all the other camcorders I researched did come with this as a standard feature. Due to my pending trip I agreed to purchase the battery and charger. Then he proceeded to try and sell me even more extras till my $157 camcorder turned out to be $1400! I explained that I was not planning on spending that kind of money for a camcorder and he kept insisting I needed an extended life battery, a bag, extra lenses and filters.... and oh by the way, with this extra package a tripod came with it for free! I again explained that I was not planning on spending that kind of money, but the extra lenses did interest me. He ended up settling on a price with me that was below $1400, and in the heat of the pending trip, I just wanted to get him off the phone and get my camcorder over nighted to me in time to take it with me. Yes I played into their bait and switch tactics and I way overpaid for what I got. My major complaint is that my husband about a month later wanted to by another camcorder. I referred him to The Camera Professionals, but I warned him what they would try and do. He called the sales person to complete his transaction, but was not successful in purchasing his camcorder because they refused to sell it to him without him purchasing any extras. They said it was their "policy", despite the fact that there are no disclaimers on the web displaying their sale. He got into a heated discussion with them and it resulted in both parties getting mad and no camcorder was sold. I called later this evening to try and persuade them to sell my husband the camcorder at the $157 without purchasing any extras because I purchased the same camcorder from them a month prior and I already had all the extras. I was treated the same way with them stating that it was their policy not to sell just the camcorder body. I claimed they were selling under false pretenses because there was no policy stated on their advertisement and he proceeded to tell me that he had those camcorders in stock if you purchased the battery and charger with it, but if I just wanted the body then they were out of stock. I figured out that the camcorder comes standard with the battery and charger and if they sold me just the body, they would have to break the seal on a box and take those parts out therefore voiding the warranty. This is totally false advertising because they will never sell you just the camcorder body, they will just tell you it is out of stock despite the fact that they have them prepackaged. Him and I went back and forth despite the fact that I was much nicer than my husband basically just asking him questions as to why and how they can do that when their advertisement says different. Finally to get me off the phone, he told me that he would send me the camcorder body and I would have it in 7-10 business days. I can guarantee I won't see that camcorder because he never even took my credit card number for me to pay for it. What a scam. I have filed a complaint with the Better business bureau as well as the Department of Consumer affairs. I would encourage everyone else to do the same. The Dept of Consumer Affairs is http://www.nyc.gov/html/dca/html/contact/contact.shtml and the better business bureau is www.newyork.bbb.org. The offending company is The Camera Professionals, 2277 McDonald Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11223"
"I ordered a GPS from ubuydigital.com and a week later still heard nothing so I called to find out where my order was. They said I needed to confirm it. I said I never got an email on that. After 30 minutes and being transferred to 5 people I eventually got back to person number 1 who immediately transferred me again. When I tried to explain I was on hold for 30 minutes I was immediately put on hold mid sentence. After doing a google on ubuydigital.com sucks I found this site and immediately cancelled my credit card as soon as I started to read the horrors out here. I was unable to confirm or cancel the order and nobody answered any of my 5 emails I sent to every address listed on that site. What a nightmare. "
"I was given the blessing of my wife to go ahead and order my fathers day gift. I have been wanting a Nikon D300 for a while and jumped at the oportunity. I thought that I had found a really great deal at "The Camera Professionals".com Their site was easy to navigate and informative. It also stated that the product was in stock with free shipping. I placed the order and gave all my personal info and credit card#. When I printed the order confirmation I started to get uncomfortable. There wasn't any company logo or information on the reciept. I thought that this was strange. Then I get an email from the company:

So I immediately call and get placed on hold. I am transfered twice while trying to confirm my order. When they were finally able to pull up my order I was informed that I did not order a battery or charger. I questioned this because the last camera I bought (Nikon d100) came with both. He stated that "the reason the camera is at such a good price is that your getting the body only." I started to question him further when he abruptly informed me that the camera was out of stock. I said in that case I want to cancell my order. He rudely told me "Fine! We have not placed your order yet anyhow." Then he hung up on me. I immediately started researching thier company. A little too late I know. I found this site from a link in Dpreview.com. After reading a few of the reviews I called my credit card company and changed my card number. Save yourself some time and grief and don't order anything from them!!!
"When an order is placed the craziness begins.Mine was for a $230.00 Canon camera.I was emailed a confirmation and order#.The email requested me to call the 800 number listed on the website, during their business hours, to verify billing info. 2 hrs later, I received another email requesting the CVC number from my credit card. It said to just email it back.I waited until the next day and called them.I was transferred to a VERY RUDE man. There was loud laughing and yelling in the background. The very unprofessional rep asked me for my authorization code. When I questioned him about the yelling and 2 emails, he said,"Look! No one's forcing you to buy anything here."I said that I was feeling very uncomfortable. He said,"Fine.Your order is cancelled!" and hung up.I immediately called my credit card company and cancelled my card. Within 20 minutes, a rep from ICE.com called to verify a purchase made with my credit card out of CHINA for some silver jewelry to be OVERNIGHT shipped to my home. They thought it odd.THANK GOD! NO I DIDN'T place the order. Someone from thecameraprofessionals.com did! I KNOW this as I haven't used that credit card in over a year and I ONLY used it to purchase this camera!Lucky for me,ICE.com cancelled the order."
"What an absolutely miserable experience! Incredibly poor customer service, with 0 integrity. Same experience as previous reviewers -- they clearly underpriced the product (in this case a canon sd750) with hopes of selling me overpriced warranties and paraphanalia once they had me on the phone to confirm the order. Once I declined all the extras, the product was never shipped. I assume, in the end, the sale wasn't worth their while. After calling many times, finally got through. "Backordered" they told me. Having read the above reviews by this point in the story, I understood exactly what was going on. Promptly cancelled my order and notified my credit card company. These guys are crooks. Do not buy from them under any circumstances."
"I ordered a camera from this company and got the email to call or else my order will be delayed.
I called and they tried to sell me a card to go with the camera and I declined. They hung up and the next day my order was at the house. They sent the order days before I "authorized" the transaction by calling them.
I got the camera and it was scratched along the casing in a few places. I called the "customer service" line (waited on hold a good 10 minute or so and they told me that I would not be charged the restocking fee but I am responsible for the shipping charges.
I asked them "you sold me a camera that is not what you said it was, I want to return it and you are making me pay for the shipping?" She replied "The customer is required to pay shipping" and would not budge. She gave me an authorization number for the return pretty quickly when I asked to return the camera though.
God knows when I will see the credit to my card since I have yet to see the charge but I will send the camera back and am going to be out 20 dollars for the experience."
