"I purchased a radio off Ebay back approx 3 years ago and bought a warranty from SquareTrade for about $60. It was a last minute decision and figured I was already buying this expensive item off Ebay and figured, what's another $60. Oh yeah, the radio was 498.50 (So, roughly $500). I only purchased the warranty because Ebay advertised it to me and because I saw the reviews from the local TV & internet advertisements and they appeared legit.
Anyways, moving forward 2 years and uhm,....10 months, the radio died. Only the power light was on, but other than that, no sign of life!
I had forgotten I even had a warranty and a few days later, I thought back to when I bought it and it hit me. So, after a quick search of original paperwork, I found my SquareTrade warranty info and logged into the website and saw my covered claim (the radio), in my profile. And obviously, I figured, "What's it gonna hurt?" So, I filed a claim.
Next day I received a response from SquareTrade advising steps and the need to send my radio in for repair. So far, so good,..."they responded". It was more than I even expected.
So, they sent me a UPS prepaid shipping label via email, and I reluctantly,...VERY reluctantly, boxed up my radio in it's original box. Oh before I boxed it up, I actually took pictures and marked the radio in an inconspicuous area so i can confirm it was the original radio IF they eventually returned it. So, it's all boxed up and brought it to the UPS Store and sent it out. I mean, the radio didn't work anyway, so if I never saw it agian, it wasn't the biggest loss, ya know?!
I kept track of the UPS tracking number and saw that after a couple of days, I got the confirmation that someone in CA signed for it. I'm in Florida, by the way. Uhm,...anyways, about 2 weeks went by and I received no update, so I called SquareTrade and they informed me that the repair shop was waiting on a part to come in to complete the repair. I then called again after another full week to get an update and they said it was still being worked on.
Fast forward now, approx 5 weeks later, and not feeling super confident about my decision to ship it out,..........yesterday, 04.15.13, I finally got my radio shipped back to my office. I was like,..."No way,..it's fixed?"
I will say that one thing does bother me and that's the way it was shipped back to me. Electronics are NOT items that you ship in their original boxes. That's a no-no. All electronics are supposed to be boxed inside another box. That's my main gripe!!!! I didn't ship it to them like that. I actually boxed it inside another box as is customary.
Regardless, I received the unit back and was excited. I took it home and hooked it up to a battery and a speaker, and sure enough, while all my settings were reset to their factory defaults,...which I actually unfortunately expected,....the unit powered on and I was able to insert a cd and listen to the music. Talk about really being excited!
SquareTrade actually worked for me. And while yes, there is the inconvenience factor, you can't be sore that it worked and the unit was repaired free of charge (minus the original purchase of the warranty). I payed nothing to ship it to them and cost me nothing for the repair.
I wish I knew specifically what was wrong with the unit, because they shipped it back with no paperwork to describe their efforts. But,....in the end, I have my unit back and I feel good,...and I have to give a big kudos to SquareTrade for doing their part.
Will I purchase another warranty from SquareTrade? Absolutely! I have wayyyyy more confidence now. Of course it depends on the purchase price to begin with, but what you do is your decision, of course. Just do NOT be so sore later, because you've not given any credit to a warranty program.
Have a good day!"

"As with many of you I purchased this warranty on Ebay with smartphone purchase for peace of mind. This was my first purchase of an extended warranty in a long time, but will not be my last. The phone failed after only two months, and process for a claim could not be easier. The price for the warranty was 1/8 of the purchase price, worth every penny."

"It only took one phone call to do the whole process. After printing the prepaid UPS label and boxing it up, I had the refund in about 3 days."

"I've had a great relationship with SquareTrade over 3 transactions so far. They are easy to work with and don't try to argue with you when you have a return or need to file a claim. They are hands down the best warranty seller/service I have ever used."

"This is a great outfit to deal with. I was a little hesitant to buy the policy when I bought the drive but it was not very expensive and gave a little more peace of mind. When the drive failed they took care of the claim right away and were very pleasant to deal with. I will use them again especially for items purchased over the internet. I have since found that they have household warranties as well which is interesting."

"My Canon printer quit printing anything blue. Good thing I bought that SquareTrade Warranty. I followed the instructions on their website and filed a claim. I then boxed up the printer and used the prepaid shipping label provided to me. Within one day of UPS picking up the package from my office I had a gift card for 105% of the original purchase price in my email inbox.

I can't say enough great things about this company. They've always come through when I needed them. I'm never the first person to push purchasing any extended warranties since I used to work retail and know how much of a bad deal that they usually are. However, whenever I purchase an item that I'm pretty sure will break within 2-3 years you can be sure I'm going to purchase a SquareTrade Warranty. The fact is, things aren't made like they used to be but SquareTrade always comes through when they break."

"I bought a SquareTrade 3-year warranty on a whim during an electronics buying spree about 2 years ago. I didn;t remember I had even purchased a warranty until my product (Motorola S9-HD Bluetooth Headset) broke.

Motorola wouldnt replace it after one year, but I noticed my receipt had me down for a SquareTrade 3-year warranty. I expected a lot of hassle and emails back and forth to prove purchase, etc., but ALL I had to do was log on, type in my email, and they already had a record of my warranty. Too good to be true already? It gets better.

I wrapped up my Motorola S9-HD, pasted a pre-paid UPS sticker on, and sent it off. As soon as UPS PICKED IT UP, I received a $75 credit on my PayPal account for the item (I paid $68 for it, plus tax and a few bucks for the warranty).

Needless to say, when I bought a new bluetooth headset, I immediately signed up for another SquareTrade warranty. I will be purchasing these warranties for all my electronics from now on!"

"These are wonderful people to insure your appliances with. I've had nearly a dozen warranties in place with them for years, all placed because of a combination of positive Amazon.com ratings on the one hand and first-had experiences with Best Buy (Geek Squad) over the years on the other hand. When I finally had to file a claim myself, there were no silly questions, just got right into the problem and the circumstances in which it surfaced. I immediately received a UPS label to ship them the item – all 35 lbs. - for independent examination and soon received a very prompt Amazon.com gift card in the amount of the claim – not some silly “VISA gift card”. And the amount paid for this particular claim was the full amount, not a pro-rated amount. As you can imagine, I promptly insured the replacement unit with SquareTrade. I just wasn’t prepared to be treated so well . . . I was expecting the long, slow line at the GeekSquad, waiting twelve weeks for someone a few states away to look at it, getting more questions from that state, getting the unit back still not working, going through the whole routine again, then having to accept what BestBuy thought at the moment was an equivalent unit in their inventory, and then “welcome back to BestBuy” to pick it up. And this item I just filed a claim on was purchased at BestBuy but insured with SquareTrade instead of the GeekSquad. My experience with SquareTrade was really, really painless."
