"You're Damn Right I'm going to write a negative review !After ordering two boxes of ammunition, the order mysteriously dissapears, and is never delivered to my door. FedEx knows nothing about it, and Sportsmans' Guide Customer Service, whom of which are just a bundle full of JOY to deal with.. Can you sense the sarcasm .... Tells me that they will investigate on their end... and I might hear back from them within 3 - 4 weeks. During this time, they refer me back to fedex... Again, I'm getting the run around with these idiots, and I'm Out $150. Whatever happened to customer service ? Pathetic ! I will NEVER buy anything from them, and I will tell everyone in my community to NEVER buy from them. HOrrible experience ! Losers !"
"I have placed three orders with Sportsmansguide, over the past year, and I am not too thrilled with them. I am still waiting for the last order despite their assurances of "7 day shipping." Apparently that is 7 days from when they decide to ship! Not from when you place the order. I have had to call and ask if they actually intend to ship my order or not? My last two orders consisted of many items which I had to return or have replacement parts shipped for. In fact, I was VERY hesitant to place this last order because of that. I will not be renewing my membership. The only good news is that they are very good about replacing bad merchandise. They have even sent me a shipping label for a cot, which failed after almost 8 months. Of course, it was the first time I actually used the cot and it was supposed to be rated for 1,000 pounds. It had nowhere near that on it when it failed. If you are going to place an order with them, I strongly recomend that you do not "join the club." The "non-member" pricing is not that much more and membership costs increase the total price of merchandise far beyond comptetive market value for the average consumer. Only if you are going to be ordering a high volume of merchandise is it useful. Bottom line, Pro's; Lots of merchandise, readily take returns on bad stuff and they pay the shipping. Cons; Lots of bad stuff, VERY slow shipping, excessive membership costs. They just leave me with a feeling of "being suckered." "
"Usually I have been very happy with Sportsman Guide. However over a year ago we purchased a Castlecreek walk-in greenhouse.A storm caused some damage to the fittings and I have tried to track down the parts to replace it. I have not been able to locate an office or manufacture for Castlecreek outdoor products. I recently learned that Castlecreek is a trademark product of The Sportsman Guide. The Sportsman Guide customer has been no help. All we want is to purchase some replacement couplings to get continuous use of the greenhouse."
"Okay. I'm not sure what other people are ordering to get such bad ratings but I've been ordering from SPG for years without complaint. FA accessories, camping gear, sporting gear, a tool or two, ammo, storage items, and other odd things that might have struck my fancy. Do they sometimes get back-ordered? Sure. But EVERY SINGLE back-ordered item that I have ordered has ended up shipping to me at the price it was ordered. In a time like today where ammo prices have gone insane (and 4 years ago when we went through this the first time) I knowingly ordered ammo that would be back-ordered and it came...at the price I ordered, WELL under the insane market prices. I'll take a short wait for 1/3 the insanly inflated market price (223 anyone?) any day. Given my long history with SPG I've also had to deal with a few returns, including a dueling target that was shot to hell as it did not meet advertised ratings (manufacturers's not SPG's). Never once had an issue with a return. These guys are a flexible as coscto and that has to impact the bottom line. I'll keep shopping with SPG as long as they keep offering low prices, don't gouge like others do during insane times (thank you!) and have customer service like they do. I think I'll go order something right now. Just need to go find some coupons!"
"Have been a customer for a couple of years now. Always been pleased with products and their service. Whenever there was a delay in shipping ammo they kept me informed and offered the option to cancel the back ordered portion. Money was promptly refunded"
"Ordered ammo which showed in stock when I ordered. Now they say it is back ordered for a year. I sent an email to cancel the order and also the 1-year membership which I subscribed because of this order. They already charged for the membership, even after I requested to cancel. No response for my cancellation request. Typical bait and switch business. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM"
"Ordered ammo on their website and had to buy into the Buyer's Club just to get competitive pricing. On further review I found many instances where the Buyer's Club pricing was not as competitive as say Midway USA on almost everything, and Midway doesn't sell you on a program in order to get better pricing. In addition, when I found something I wanted on SG's website it was never in my size. Since my ammo was backordered I called and cancel everything, including the Buyer's Club. "
"I understand the frustration with back orders. I have had quite a few myself, but if you are patient, you will receive your order. Lets be honest, some items(especially ammo) are often not in stock. Why? Because they have the best price and deals around! I really feel much of this criticism is unfair because it's not sg that has nothing in stock, it's everybody!! If you need something now, go to to cheaper than dirt or one of the other despicable price gougers and pay $1 a round for 5.56 or 9mm. Sg does not play pricing games, they don't buy into the hysteria, they just offer great products at great prices that happen to be very popular. Things will get back to normal after the hysteria stops, and items will start shipping as promised. You will get all your items and your card won't be charged until it ships. Customer service is excellent, the few returns I have had, were prepaid back and professional. While they are not perfect, unless something drastic happens, they have a customer for life."
"Very Accommodating customer service whom I have dealt with more frequently than I had hoped. I am a member of Sportsman's Guide. They rarely seem to have what they say they have in stock and it almost never ships without a rescheduled shipping date. I have cancelled my last 2 orders due to lack of stock or improper communications from direct shipping associates. "
"used to love SG, last two ship dates kept being "on back order", with the dates kept being changed over and over. felt like a scam., ending up w/ the actual seaon i was going to use the item in was over. Very dissapointed in SG now, and will go to competitors now."
"Do not buy from them. I've placed 12 orders since December including the signup to be a member, all I've received so far is their membership card! Have not received any ammo, keep pushing back dates of ammo by 3 months or more, I was supposed to have already received it based on status when I ordered. No clear answer from customer service, very rude. Seems to me they keep taking back orders, but don't have any ammo in stock and do not fulfill their promises on dates of delivery on orders placed."
"Over the last year I have placed orders in excess of $2000.00 I've actually taken delivery of merch worth less then $400.00 Sportsmans Guide tries to pass its self off as an ammo distributor and gun dealer. less then 2% of the ammo they clain to offer they have in stock. I've ordered thousands of rounds of ammo, 12ga, .380, 9mm, 5.56mm and 7.62. the only thing they've ever delivered is the 12ga. every other order, they promise a date, the date arrives, and they move it out 3 to 6 months. EVERY TIME!. I have order cancellations from as far back as 2010 because they claim to have it in stock and they day for shipment arrives and no, they lie and lie, and will never tell the truth. I will not renew my membership and I will never place another order with them and I will never waste another minute of my life looking at their second crap, which they have in stock while they peddle ammo that doesn't ever exist.the Sportsmans guide is a complete rip off, don't waste your time or money!"
"I´m an international buyer, and i found a brand new pair of U.S. military N4B flyer´s mitt at Sportsmans Guide, great price and okey shipping costs, so acording to the invoice i got with mail, i had to pay roughly $ 62, i knew i had to pay tax to the danish customs when it arrived, but it would still be a good price all in all.BUT instead of charge me $62 for the mitt´s, they charged me almost $ 375 for the mitt´s and shipping. I told customer service, a day later, I got a mail from them, where i was told, that they would contact the company that had sent my package and find out what has happend, and then contact me again, that was 6 days a go.Now the parcel has arrived, and on top of the hole thing, did i get the honor of paying an extra $ 90 in tax and customs, for a shipment that was set at $ 176 instead of the approximately $ 25.5 as stated in the e-mail i got from Sportsmans Guide. Have sent a copy to the customer service, and yet another day has gone by, and still no answer. So i´m looking forward to what their response will be, one thing is for sure, I will never shop at Sportsmans Guide again nor will I recommend them to anyone I know."
"It's been a nightmare. It's not over yet. I had a Sportsman's Guide $15 gift certificate expired on 01/31/2013 but I threw it away because I really had no courage to place another order even I didn't have to pay any money. My order B has been postponed from 11/8/2012 for four times. it's still not shipped out yet.========================= detailsThe experience of the latest orders was not too good from the first order 2 months ago. Because I had the gift card, I had to use it. So, I still orderded 7.62x54R ammo on 12/6/2012 as a Christmas gift. Let's call this order A. It didn't say that it's a backorder item and it just said that "Expected delivery date for in-stock items is 3-7 business days" when I ordered. The status was "Expected Ship Date 12/6/2012". But, I got the notice that the expected ship day was postponed to 03/10/2013 on 12/12/2012. Today is 12/14/2012 and the order is still "Order Approval in process". Let's see how long Sportman's Guide will take to process order A. I'll keep this review updated.=====Today is 12/27/2012. Nothing changed order A is still " "Order Approval in process". But, they said that it is scheduled to be shipped on 3/10/2013. I'll keep this review updated.=====Today is 12/27/2012. I placed another order on 11/08/2012 for 9x18 ammo for the range shooting in New Year holidays. Let's call it order B. And, I was told AFTER I placed the order that it's backordered on 11/17/2012 and it will be shipped on 12/24/2012. Today is 12/27/2012, but it hasn't been shipped out yet. I sent an email asking for the status. I'll keep this review updated.=====Today is 12/28/2012. The customer service replied to my order B shipment delay problem. They said "We are still expecting the merchandise in stock any day." and "Backorder dates are tentative and subject to change due to vendor shipment.". They are unable to tell me when my order B will be shipped. Of course, the range shooting was cancelled due to the ammo shipment delay of orader A and Order B. I'll keep this review updated.=====Today is /01/02/2013. I still haven't received my order B (placed on 11/08/2012 and shipping was 5-7 BUSINESS DAYS). And the pass due ship day on the order status is still 12/24/2012. There's no updated ship date on my order B any more. I sent the email to Sportsman's guide customer service today:"Another week passed. I've been waiting for my order to be shipped for 54 days. I still haven't received it. Could you please at least give me your next estimated ship date of the item WX2-147943 of my order #xxxxxxxx?" I'll keep this review updated.=====Today is 01/08/2013. On 01/04/2013, Sportsman's Guide replied about my Order B placed on 11/08/2012 and shipping was 5-7 BUSINESS DAYS. They said that "The backorder date has not been updated because we are still expecting this shipment or waiting to hear from the vendor what the new date is. If the date changes by 21 business days you will be notified with an FTC (Federal Trade Commission) notice which will ask whether or not you would like to keep the item on backorder. We will need a response within 10 days or we are required to cancel per FTC regulations.".Later, on the same day (01/04/2013), they sent an email said that "Item number xxxxx from your order, xxxxx, is still on backorder and shows an availability date of 01/23/13.".On 01/08/2013, when I checked the status of Order B on the web, it said "Expected Ship Date 2/10/2013". The expected ship date was changed again from 01/13/2013 to 02/10/2013 within 4 days.I'll keep this review updated.=====Today is 2/5/2013. I threw away the $15 sportsman's guide gift certificate because I had no courage to place another order even it is free.=====Today is 2/16/2013. Order B is postponed again. It's postponed from 02/10/2013 to 04/30/2013. It's the fourth time to be postposed since it was ordered on 11/8/2012."
